So, Sunday night, barbecue, friends. Go into basement and of course there is water that has no buisness being on my floor. I freaked. Started searching around and called multiple companies. And within an hour their plumber showed up at our door. 45 minutes later, not only was he gone, but so was the water and all the mess. He even cleaned!!! Anyway.. an update- the original work was a misdiagnosis, there actually was no blockage in the drain pipe (they weren't lying, they simply saw some fecal matter and assumed it was a blockage instead of being a symptom of a larger problem). The reason that I know this is because the toilet stopped working hours after they left for the original job. Cregger kindly came back, opened up the toilet and found the real problem and installed a new toilet gratis (thanks second plumbers!) So on the one hand, they misdiagnosed the original problem, but on the other hand they came back and fixed it for free. It's possible that they did this because I left a negative review and they wanted me to change it (my wife received a call from a manager inquiring whether I would in fact change the review). That was a bit weird, but I suppose that means they care about their reputation. read more

My neighbor Tom referred me to Cregger Plumbing for a sump discharge line repair. The pipe needed to be replaced due to aging and type of pipe material. The office staff worked with me to schedule an appointment and provided me with a timely estimate for the work. On the day of my scheduled appointment, Mark, Dave, and Mike from Cregger showed up on time. All the guys were friendly and courteous, took time to answer my questions, and kept me updated on how things were going. They worked very hard to get the job done and completed the job sooner than expected. They were very careful to make sure they did not damage anything and did an excellent job with clean up. "God sent." Cregger Plumbing and staff deserve "Six Stars". We are a small non profit business located in the city of Detroit. We provide transitional housing and skill building programs to homeless men. We feed and cloth our impoverished community. Our facility, a former convent for nuns, sump pump stop working. Every company I phoned wanted big $$$$. I was devastated. I phoned Cregger Plumbing expecting the same. The receptionist was kind and understanding. Cregger sent out 2 master plumbers to resolve the sump pump problem. Cregger Plumbing charged me for parts only and not labor. Unbelievable!!!. Edited after the Cregger contacted me about my review: One frustration I had was that I was unexpectedly charged $125 just for an estimate. This apparently was because I had scheduled a service call and not an estimate. I am now being refunded that amount. The other frustration I had was the amount of follow-up communication over text and email. They were happy to unsubscribe me from these automated messages. I do notice there was an unsubscribe button in the emails and I likely could have replied STOP to the text messages, but both forms of contact implied it was an individual person reaching out. I did not end up using Cregger to do the estimated work, so I can't speak to the quality of work performed - only my experience with the estimation process. read more

I had Cregger put in my water filtration system. The plumber didn't bother drilling holes into the wood first. He just put the screws in, thereby splitting the wood. Considering the outrageous rate they charged, you'd think they would have taken the time to do it right. Also, my water heater company called Cregger out to investigate an issue with the hot water heater. The man who came out said he was out to give me an estimate. I replied that is incorrect. He was supposed to come out to investigate the issue. He said he's not a hot water heater expert. He appeared very angry the whole time he was here. Shane with Cregger Plumbing was beyond thorough with my 99 year old house and the ridiculously clogged drains. He fixed the issue I had with coffee grounds in one drainage system (I'm sure that was not the only issue) and the tree roots in another area. Not the cheapest (you get what you pay for) but it was very inclusive, got it all done. No more thump as I to flush the second floor commode. No more worries with taking a shower or letting the bathwater out, previously it was going down the tube and filtering up onto my basement floor (gross). Kevin was very responsive and punctual. Kevin came exactly at the time he said he would come for a quotation. He saw what it takes to do the job. After he sent me the quotation, I talked to him by phone the options we had, he explained to me every option how it works and how much it costs, obviously with the advantages and disadvantages of each option. I realized from the beginning that he is an experienced plumber and knows exactly what to do. I had some other plumbers who came to give me quotations, but no one appeared to be as experienced as Kevin. I called Cregger Plumbing for a difficult plumbing repair. The temperature regulator handle in my shower was frozen to the pipe and the shower was continually dripping. Ordinarily it would be an easy fix with just a replacement of the handle. The handle could not be removed without capping off the water and cutting the pipes. There was very little working access and James, from Cregger, was concerned that the tile would crack if he tried to do this from the front of the shower. Instead he cut an access panel in our linen closet, behind the shower, put in an access door and avoided any problems. The cost was appropriate and the work outstanding. read more

Frozen pipes thawed to reveal a leak around the water meter in the middle of a nationwide cold spell on Christmas Eve. Cregger was the only company to even call us back. Talked to Emily, who walked me through the problem and indicated that it sounded like the City would have to replace. She said she did not want to have to charge for a service call and not be able to help. She even gave me her personal number and told me to call back if they were needed. Emily and Cregger probably saved us 100s of dollars! Ended up not using Cregger's services, but was so impressed with their customer service. Will definitely use them next time!!! read more

I bought a great house with a not-so-great connection to the old dryer. It was obvious that in order to have my newer dryer installed, the not-to-code connection would need to be replaced. Danny W. came out and gave an estimate, but not having had to call a plumber in some years, I wasn't sure that it was the best price and didn't have the work done right away. We are first time homebuyers and just moved into our new home. The faucet in my shower was on its way out and leaking badly. I called Cregger to replace the faucet handles and they sent out a technician by the name of Keith. He was very knowledgeable and professional while at my home; he also worked quickly to fix the faucet. The cost was much less than I had anticipated which is always good!
