Who needs a Starbucks when you find an amazing local spot like this? The espresso soda is amazing. It's perfect for a summertime pick me up. 1st time today just stopped by for a quick caffeine fixed. I ask the barista what coffee they have and literally she said it's been sitting for hours. I was waiting for her to offer a new brewed coffee but she did not. It's few awkward sec pass by Ans I just ask who's their roaster. She said counter culture. I'm familiar with the roaster but not a big fan due to light roast,I have low tolerance on high acidic coffee. And when I order latte after 1 sip I knew this is not gonna be a good cup of coffee. There are so many smaller local coffee roaster that roast better espresso than Counter Culture and maybe option of full bodied espresso base. And also not much option for dessert which is advertised in their website. Hopefully this review helps the owner/management to update their items read more

Long story short: I met my husband at the coffee place down the road. The owner sold it and the new ownership there is just not working. My husband tried to propose to me where we met and some drunks cut us in line and the barista at the place down the road ignored us. SO we walked to Crema for the first time and loved it. My husband proposed to me outside of our new coffee shop. We actually asked the owner for permission to take photos there after our wedding. They have music and art and try to cultivate a community there. It is what a coffee shop is meant to be! We now live in TN but try to visit crema every time we visit! read more

I happened to be in Hartsville this weekend and needed my morning coffee. Of course, I could have gone to a national chain coffee shop, but I love shopping and supporting local merchants and trying new places. I found Crema. This place is a gem! I need it in my hometown!! They serve lunch, and I wish I could have tried it. The soup of the day was Spicy Corn and Bean. Curse my timing! But I digress. The have the usual craft coffee menu but, they also have a great menu of drinks with college themed names. Crema is near Coker University, and I'm sure a favorite of the student body. The menu has drinks like the Graduate, Undergrad, Elective, and more. I tried an iced Elective-a coconut mocha flavored cup of coffee heaven!! The establishment looks great. On the outside, you don't realize what a cozy and welcoming coffee house you're about to step into. There are nice tables for sitting street side but walk up the stairs and inside and be pleased. It has the feel of an industrial loft. There's a nook with a private table for a window seat and a mix of high top tables and comfortable lounge seating in armchairs. It's a very open space with a high ceiling and soft lighting. And, and . . . Annnnnnd a stage! I'm assuming they host bands, open mic, poetry readings, I dunno. But I was impressed and wanted to hear Smelly Cat immediately. The barista was lovely and professional. They sell merch with their logo and I was bummed I had ran in with only coffee money, because I wanted a shirt just to wear and hope people asked me about this place so I could sing their praises. If you are in Hartsville, staying or driving through, stop at Crema! You won't be disappointed!! read more

The staff is friendly and the place is clean. But three experiences out of 7 or so... and unless Crema decides to get some regular "coffee tasting" coffee beans I can't foresee our being back. I suppose it was the third time in a row their only 'strong' roast was a chocolate something or other that tastes like syrupy sweet staleness. I did also LOVE their outside seating , too. My favorite is the Undergrad made with dark roast coffee-just enough of a kick to get a long workday off on the right foot. Give them a try if you're in the area on business! I love this coffee bar! The coffee is always good. The only thing that bothers me is the last 4 times I've been there they never have ceramic coffee cups. They always give us to go paper cups. When you go to sit inside for the atmosphere then you want a real cup to drink out of. They are always out of creamer also. This is a coffee bar! They should have these items. Everyone I've spoken to loves this place. It's really great having a place to come work, relax, or meet up with friends. There's a really great community feel here - they call it a CREM-munity. Events every weekend like trivia nights, board game nights, open Mic nights, and live music. The staff is amazing, efficient, and super friendly. Everyone who works there seems to enjoy it and all pay great attention to their customers. I love coming here and only wish I had a never ending coffee budget (although the prices here are great)! I went to Crema back in May 2015. The menu was classic, yet phenomenal. It had both extensive hot coffee items and cold coffer alternatives. This is a FAMILY OWNED venture. Daughter runs it with the full support of mom/dad & siblings. The is a whole family affair and I appreciated their results. I ordered a cold drink - it was perfect. I sat there during open mic and there were a bunch of college kids supporting their friend. Great atmosphere combined with great coffee.
