In a sentence: An adorable cafe with an awesome brunch and lunch menu with great service! We arrived at 8am opening time and were happy to find the door unlocked and servers ready to help. The hostess and server were friendly and accommodating with my friend's excited 2 year olds. The cafe itself looked clean and organized with a rustic and cool style. The pastry case was full of brownies, cookies, cake pops, bars, salads, and more, everything looked delicious! We sat in the beautiful brick alleyway which is so picturesque for those food pics! I ordered the Pedro Rachero, a bowl of creamy grits topped with pimento cheese, avocado, black beans, and pico, so good!!! Fruit and toast on the side made sure I was full and happy. Just passing through Hartville after a race at Darlington Dragway and there are not very many options to eat apart from fast food The Rooster One Thirty Six is AMAZING !!! Great food , service and a really cool atmosphere . I will be back here next time I race at Darlington !!! read more

Loved it. It feels like a swank lil foreign college town coffee shop, but with a menu. Great service and breakfast drinks. Great omelette and pancakes. Of note: we ordered an English Muffin and got a bran muffin. It was very good. read more

What an amazing gem! We were in the area and Yelp led me here! You guys nailed it with this place. Amazing h fried potatoes, cooked perfect in my favorite way! The sausage meat is local and made into a homemade patty and my favorite part about it is that it was not salty. They have gluten free toast! Super plus and it's good. Although we live 1.5 hours away we may just have to find an excuse to get to that part of the world again. My son loved his Nutella crape! read more

My family & I stopped in on July 20, 2023 while traveling from Florida heading home in Maryland. The food was great, but what made my rating 5 STAR was THE SERVICE in addition to the food. The service this morning was impeccable! I wish I would have caught the young lady's name! She was so prompt and friendly! #Brunch I have their lunch more than their brunch but how I've missed their brunch. Such an eye-pleasing display of my waffle this morning and it was so tasty. The coffee is amazing and would come back just to order the macchiato again and the waitress was very knowledgeable.... The food however didn't hold up, at least for me. My boyfriend said he liked the hunter plate and I got the mushroom omelet and was disappointed. It may just be I'm used to fluffy omelets with the components mixed in but WAY too much onion and the cheese was WAY too overpowering for how thin the egg was. Might try something else or just come for the coffee. read more

We we're passing through town and saw their listing on Yelp. After a short wait we were seated then enjoyed an excellent Ruben sandwich. The staff were warm and welcoming and the decor was interesting yet welcoming. We highly recommend this fine restaurant and will visit again next time we're in town. read more

Brought here by my cousin. Looks small from outside but plenty of seating inside. The sweet tea was good. The menu is a good size for lunch & brunch. We went around noon and not packed. Feels very open and everyone is super friendly. I got the 1/2 valley girl with tomato bisque which was really good. A girl comes around with the dessert tray ... I definitely didn't need dessert since I'm completely full. read more

Holy cow, this place! We visited The Rooster during a one day, overnight stay business trip. We came here first thing in the morning, no free breakfast for me "thank you" very much anyway. My latte was amazing. My husband's cafe mocha, also amazing. It was like a giant soup mug of stay hot greatness until my breakfast came. Disclaimer: I try everything on the table, so this is first hand knowledge. Blueberry compote pancakes with a side of ham. Delicious. Ham can be very questionable, it was not here. Also on the table, Roasted Mushroom Spinach Omelet. Superb. Here's the thing. WE ARE GOING BACK THIS TUESDAY! I've never loved business travel more. Hartsville is the cleanest small town in America! This is such a cute, quaint place; it is a bakery/coffee shop and a restaurant in one. It has very neat almost vintage-esque decor throughout the entire place - that's what captured my attention the most and what prompted me to write about it. There are plants everywhere (yay!) and the decor gives it a warm feel. There is even a small library in the corner. We sat in what was almost like an outside patio and we fell in love before we even got our food. Now on to the food itself. I got a turkey sandwich for brunch and it was quite flavorful, very fresh and one I really recommend if you want something light. The service was good, attentive and kind. If I'm ever in town again I will look forward to stopping by again. I highly recommend! read more

The Midnight Rooster is a very cool Bistro in downtown Hartsville. My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a day drive looking for another business that was closed today due to the Memorial Day Holiday (thanks to all veterans for your service to our GREAT Country the USA). Glad the Midnight Rooster was open as it is so nice. The wait staff were very busy and attentive. Offered gluten free options which made it perfect. They had very delicious soups and sandwich specials for the day which we both took advantage of. Both our orders were delicious and well prepared. My inlaws live in Hartsville and we go to visit them there. Midnight Rooster is on Carolina avenue and opens for breakfast. I'm a recreational runner, so sometimes when I'm in town I jump into a local 5K if there's one going on at the YMCA, this is next door. We always walk over there for breakfast after the local races and Midnight rooster is always delicious and very good service. It's an artsy place and cute inside. They don't open until a little later on weekend mornings, so I guess you should keep that in mind. I think it's 8 or 9? read more

One of the best local coffee shops that offer seasonal flavors and they also have a full bar! I've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here and all of it was really good! Their staff takes time to know you on a personal level. If you leave this shop unhappy its your fault. These people mean business when it comes to your happiness. The atmosphere is a cross between old country and British. Men do not feel out of place here. The food is more than tiny sandwiches. Take your wife or your favorite girl. You won't miss. Lastly, the pecan scones are to die for. We took some frozen scones home as always. The Devonshire cream and Lemon Curd are on point. Living in the UK for 3 years I can tell you this place is awesome. Just a couple more things you need to know. They are only open 11am to 2pm Monday thru Friday. Take cash unless you want to pay 3.5% to use the card. They will alter any sandwich for vegetarians. Outdoor seating available.
