If you're looking for true Southern comfort food, Bazen's in Florence is a must-visit. The buffet was packed with delicious home-cooked favorites, and everything we tried was fantastic. The fried chicken was crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and comforting, and the fried okra had just the right amount of crunch. We also enjoyed biscuits, collard greens, peas, cornbread, and washed it all down with some of the most delicious sweet tea around. And don't even think about skipping dessert because the banana pudding was absolutely worth saving room for! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Their Southern hospitality added even more to the experience. There were plenty of other options on the buffet, but these were the dishes that won us over that day. Buffet is pretty basic egg, grit, bacon, there were freshly made blueberry biscuit. For me I prefer a little more variety on a buffet but $10 isn't much on wallet. On the search for post Christmas breakfast with the family and everything we were aware of was closed. Yelp sent us on an interesting journey that ended with this gem. All we wanted was some good grits and we found them. Popped into this restaurant and was immediately acknowledged and found our seat for 5. The staff was so friendly and ready to serve. They laughed with us and made sure coffee cups were never empty. The sweet tea was delicious as well. And the grilled biscuits... they are a MUST! The food was just what we needed. It came out hot and yummy. My only issue is that all the food didn't come out at the same time. The prices are super reasonable. This will definitely be a stop each time I'm in town. Went here in a Sunday morning, wasn't busy at all. Polite staff. Service and wait time was great. Now the food...trash. My scrambled eggs were served sitting in a lot of liquid. The servers and quality of food is great, however, when you order breakfast there are problems when you order hash browns. We have experienced on numerous occasions they rarely serve the hash browns with the breakfast. As example by the time our hash browns were supposed to have arrived our breakfast was cold. We arrived here on a Saturday evening to meet a large group. Upon entering, there was a bit of congestion at the front door and we didn't immediately know what to do or where to go as it was our first time there. This was partly due to the cashier's counter being at the entry. We didn't know if one should pay first or get in the cafeteria-style line first and a lot of people were milling around. Maybe I missed some signs or something. Anyway, we saw some members of our party who told us to go ahead and get in line. So we did. The food is self-serve, buffet style. They had several main choice options like chicken and dumplings, fried chicken, baked chicken, beef stew, etc. They also had sides like rice and gravy, dressing/stuffing, peas, beans, corn, etc. Then there were two small salad bars. One for green salad and one for chicken salad, tuna salad, etc. And finally, there was a small table with a variety of desserts on it, including various types of cakes and banana pudding. Everything was prepared home-style/southern. The manager was very friendly and staff kept drinks refilled. The food was okay. Some of it was tasty. Some of it was not. If you like buffets, you will surely find something tasty that you can enjoy. Also, you can get your buffet "to go" in a styrofoam platter. Hours are from 6 am to 2 pm everyday, except Saturday. On Saturday, they close at 11 am instead of 2 pm. On Thurs, Fri, and Sat., the restaurant reopens at 5pm for dinner. Dinner is served on these days until 9 pm. And on Sundays, the hours are from 6 am to 3pm They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets. Apparently, the price is a bit higher on Sundays. Approximately $9 or so. read more

Very bad breakfast. (How can you screw up breakfast?) Poor table service. Absolute confusion at the door with people paying as they come in for a buffet (all fried) while those ordering off the menu try to pay as they are leaving. Terribly tacky aesthetics. I love eating here!! I use to live in Florence, SC and I would eat here everyday. There food tastes like someone's grandma is cooking in the back. All of the food has the perfect amount of seasoning, the staff are very friendly and if you eat there everyday like I did when I lived there you will become family. This is my favorite restaurant. I love the food and the employees. To me, the food is is seasoned similar to a homemade, and not just poured out of a can. Some of the food (baked pork chops) is better than my Mom's and my mom is a great cook The waitresses are always friendly and personable, the tables are not too close together and very low to no employee turnover, they all seem to be long term, so they must be treating their employees well. They smiled as if it was their mission to distribute coffee and grits to the hungry denizens of Florence,SC. Our shock at the speed and quality of service escalated after seeing the low, low prices on the menu - especially the 0.50 cent egg meal add-ons. The staff were unordered, not curious and quite rude. When entering we were told to find an open table with no direction, however a section was closed but we were not inform until the waitress who's section it was told us that she was on break, so we would have to find a different area to sit. The restaurant itself was run down and unclean. Ceiling tiles with large water stains with appalling bathrooms. I had also ordered a easy straight forward breakfast consisting of two eggs, with toast and sausage. My eggs were not done with the whites uncooked. In addition they were brought to us by the waitress who was "on break". I wouldn't recommend this as a stop if your looking for a greasy spoon, this establishment is a little to greasy.... read more

I remember things like grits and fried bologna when I was growing up. But, I live up North in Vermont where everything is sourced locally and cooked healthily and something like fried bologna never ever not once shows up on a menu in Vermont. Grits? infrequent. But there are grits, and then there are GRITS! Bazens makes GRITS. Perfect grits that beg for a little salt and butter. This place is known for their endless breakfast and lunch buffets and we witnessed people eating to their heart's content. We chose to order off the menu. What came out was without a spot of grease and was delicious at a price we could not believe.
