Love this little place. I was there when it opened, and I'm pretty sure i'll be taking my kids there. Love the guys who run it, and all the awesome people who hang around. Great staff and amazing collection of rare and quality vinyl. I have purchased a few items from them and the records are in pristine condition with no warping or scratches. You can practically see yourself in the reflection. By far my favorite record spot in Orange County. They have jams playing all day that will brighten up your mood in an instant. The Tangerine has a very unique set up in a quaint... but maneuverable... trailer in the heart of The Lab in Costa Mesa California. The prices are competitive (inexpensive for the most part) and just ask the staff about any information you desire for each and every record they have. This little record store is really one of the last places in OC you can find some quality records at cheap prices. The owners are collectors just like you and they seem to value the rare/weird/eccentric gems, so there's a lot of that in stock. Sure, there's lots of stuff you'll want to see like your Led Zeps and whatever but there are a lot of rare/weird gems too. I came by the other day to buy a christmas present for my friend and I wasn't disappointed. Although the collection is much smaller than many other record places, it was a very diverse and interesting collection. I would love for them to have more alternative vinyls, however due to the size it's understandable if they don't. The service here was nice and they really knew their stuff well. We went there yesterday and had an awesome time. Despite being in a small space (a cool airstream) the collection was 'deep' my husband said. We bought a couple of Christmas albums and are going to go back to buy the Brian Eno record they put on while we were there. Respect to the guy who was working there (long hair, Kiss t-shirt), he had great taste in music, deep knowledge, was super helpful, and was super nice as well - which can be tricky for someone imparting their musical knowledge to pull off. This is a fun, worthwhile and efficient place to pick vinyl. Due to the size limitations there is not a lot of junk in there. The owner is a cool guy, he's got good prices and I've found some smokin' good deals not only in the trailer, but in the bargain bins out front. I had such a fun time shopping here today. This place has the perfect balance of new and used records. I somehow picked up three used records here today that I was thrilled about for only $27 (plus all were records I couldn't find anywhere else). The discounted record section is incredible and I found plenty of great albums in there. What I also liked is it's a small place and you can go through everything in an hour. The shop is small, and I usually quickly peruse though the dollar section before delving into the more quality records inside of the "store". Where do I start... when I bought my first record player about a year ago, I came straight to creme tangerine since I knew nothing about vinyl. Parker showed me how to use my newly aquired record player and sold me a few records at a really good price since I was new to it all. If you like buying well priced, clean records, in a slightly cramped but well curated area then this is the place for you. Wish he had a little more selection but he has nice stuff. He's well located just outside Urban Outfitters at the Lab and as you'd expect his prices are much better than those at Urban. Whereas Urban carries more new releases and has used stuff at $12, Parker offers more used selection of harder to find stuff at various price points. This is my favorite record shop! Parker Macy is a stand-up guy who loves the blues and knows almost everything about music you could want to know. There's a wonderful variety here, and they get new stuff all the time. I get all my Jack White-related records here, and there's a ton of great jazz, blues, country, and folk in addition to the large rock/pop selection. Which is surprising, because the shop is housed in an Airstream trailer. If there's something you're looking for, Parker really tries to put it in your hands. He also buys records / appraises them, so if you are looking to not get ripped off, he's the honest guy you're looking for. Definitely check it out. Creme Tangerine is changing and not for the best. We used to love coming here but have noticed that they are switching to a lot more brand new LPs instead of used. Honestly, if I wanted to buy new, I could just go on Amazon. The appeal of this place is/was the large selection of quality, used LPs. They are always in good shape, which we really appreciate, but are disappointed that they have discontinued the classical section as well as filling up on a lot of brand new LPs. read more

i've been visiting Factory Records in CM and Left of the dial in DTSA for some time, and both the fellas over there recommended i visit Creme Tangerine. Don't know how I missed this. I finally made it and boy have I been missing out. This shop is staffed buy a few guys, Parker, Chris, Bob, all stand up guys who like the other shops above have no record store attitude. Its a tiny lil spot just overflowing with goodness in the vinyl and cassette tape departments. You can make a day of digging for vinyl right in this local area.
