This park is so calming, even when it's packed with people. Plenty of parking, good paved running trail, bike trail along the back, good scenery with the lake, playground for the kids, outdoor workout station and frisbee golf (if you're into that). The running trail seems to be about .8 miles a lap, with markers for 5 and 10k runs. You will see plenty of turtles and ducks, the fishing is decent, expect to catch catfish. This park doesn't have it all, but it's a good mid size park with friendly people. Dog owners can be annoying, especially those with pits bulls, and the ones that don't pick up after their dogs . Unfortunately not everyone disposes of their trash property and this results in little on the banks of the lake. At night don't be surprised if you see some rats (nature), and plenty of duck poop which can be surprisingly large . Bonus: there is a good size hill on the south side of the park, it is good for climbing, rolling, and uphill sprints. Have fun! read more

This is birds paradise, only for birds and if anything birds should only flock this park and they know they own this park by the way they surround everything, Look near the restrooms, two ducks guarding the restroom building. Look at the drinking fountain, a bird is drinking or bathing in it. Look, at all the benches, ducks and geese are sitting and relaxing on the seats. All kinds of birds commute to this park, specifically for the pond. Families of birds and their babies are born here, so humans don't go thinking you can disturb them and Remember Alfred Hitchcock movie, "Birds", well if you haven't seen it, you better before you think you can rule this park. One big giant pond, not good for fishing cause the sign says so, but it also states there's bass in the waters, but no fishing at all. Although, a beautiful view of the waters and if you like birds, it's rather cute to look at the birds in their natural habitat and how the mum and dad ducks are around to care for their baby ducks, I'm sure a lot of humans could learn a thing or two, about creating a harmonious relationship with one another. Therefore, the people that clutter this park around the evening aren't very nice and friendly, so don't think you can come here looking to relax and read a book on the bench because people with kids will try to make your experience a living you know what. What a perfect park to go walking, running, and bird watching, or should I say bird stalking. Be cautious of where you walk, since some people think they can allow their big dogs to poop on the pavement, which I find ridiculous. Also, there are bags to pick up your dog's poop, but also know that nobody is picking up the ducks, geese, and birds poop. If you are cautious with where your dog is walking because of all the birds and feathers and what not, walk on the right side of the path to avoid and excess of bird activity and if your dog is in the hunting group of breeds, don't bring them here thinking they can attack the birds. That's a no-no! Don't try and think you can create a monster out of your dog. The park is designed for birds and they obviously love it here. I highly like it because of the scenery, and there's always something to look at and stalk with your eyes which makes walking exciting. I enjoy the nice people that come to this park in the early mornings, Yes, it may be a little colder, but well worth it if you wanna avoid an overcrowding issue. Then, I can walk for 2 hours and more. Oh, and the boardwalk that crosses the pond is a bonus treat for humans and birds. Although, sometimes the boardwalk can be flooded out. This park has other human activities, but I like to invade the birds paradise instead. They have a large trail that outskirts the smaller path, an area for children to play, an exercise area for adults, a giant hill to roll off of and a baseball field. The parking is plenty. Welcome and do come again to birds paradise. read more

Thanks to Liz for letting me know about this park! I went yesterday for a quick run after work. I was dreading going all the way to Memorial from Pasadena (having to deal with traffic) and thankfully this park just gave me an alternative! Crenshaw park is actually a very pretty, well maintained park. There is a lake, which is divided by a bridge. There is a jogging trail, which loops around the lake. The jogging trail is actually asphalt (which I don't actually like to run in, but beggars can't be choosers!). There is a play ground, a Gazebo and swings/benches around the lake. The park is small and the loop is actually only about .74 miles, but the scenery is awesome! The park is not super busy but it is definitely used. There were people sitting on benches, running, walking or simply watching the ducks/lake. I couldn't help myself and ended up taking a bunch of pictures!! I am officially a fan of this park. =0) read more

I don't have much to say here. It's a park. There aren't many in the area where you can take your grandparents to sit and watch/feed the ducks. They had a good time which makes it worth it. There are benches to sit on, a trail/track/pathway - I don't know what you would call it. I'm pretty sure they have tables, but I don't remember. There are trash cans in case you need to throw stuff away. #dontlitter Also, the best part in my opinion... THERE ARE DUCKS!! Who doesn't love ducks? My grandpa was a little sad that we didn't have bread on hand, but we had sonic tater tots. So he shared a couple, but told my grandma not to be TOO generous with his precious tater tots lol. (That has nothing to do with the park. I just thought it was funny lol.) Anyways, fresh air, benches, shade to sit in, and DUCKS! It's a nice place. read more

Awesome wildlife and nice place to go for walk or bike ride. It could use some cleaning up as the wildlife birds are quite messy and they have such an assortment of ducks and geese. read more

Crenshaw Park is great for working out. They have a small area specifically dedicated for bench workouts. Plus, a trainer sets up in the evening by that same area. He has the big tire, ropes, and a few other stations. I have never actually walked over to see what the deal is but sometimes they are going hard. The playground is nearby for keeping an eye on the little ones. You could be daring and let them run rampant and take to the track for some exercise. I'm usually that mother who lets them be, not here. That's mostly because they don't listen, and I don't trust them. If I was sure they would stay on the playground, yes, but my little hurricanes have too many interest. Crenshaw has too much to offer to trust they would just take to fighting on the playground. There are rules, no bikes on the trail, but not enforced and you will find all kinds of wheels. I don't mind it as long as you are moving. Sadly you will find groups having a conversation on the trail. That really grinds my gears. I love the jogging trail. I come here most often for my cardio. I will be here at all hours of the day. I've been early morning, mid morning, afternoon, late afternoon, evenings and super late at night. I feel safe, there is wierdos, still I feel safe. Maybe it's my jujitsu training, probably not. More than likely it's the fire station nearby. Most of the trial it's well lit, there is a section that gets dark, but it's also the closest section to the fire department. The lights just flicker off and on. The trail always has plenty of people on it even when I am here after closing. By closing, I assume they want everyone out, but like I said, I've been late. They do however close the gate to the parking near the playground. I've heard of cars being stuck there till the next day. How true that is, I couldn't say. They used to have a sign that told you if you start here 4 laps equal 3 miles. It was very specific to using the outer loop because it's only .75 of a mile. The sign was vandalized then broke. I did read online if you do the figure eight it's a mile. I refuse to do the figure eight; it's a little unnerving for me. You can refer to my picture, I have croc nightmares. I just do the math myself for the outer loop. Being a genius Latina it's not a problem for me. Most runners have their head sets in. I love hearing the conversations of people I share the track with, traffic afar, kids at play, dogs barking, ducks quacking, splashes in the water, hitting of balls and cheering from the baseball field. The signs say, don't feed the rats. You can absolutely fish here. Crenshaw Park has a fishing pier for that purpose. You can find a fishing spot from just about anywhere, and there is fish to catch. The City of Pasadena fully stocks the small lake every year. They also put together a fly a kite and children's fishing tournament soon after. It's a lot of fun. I encourage you to look out for it. read more

I've lived near this park since it was made. I enjoy walking here, and my kids love to visit "the duck park". If you're walking/running the path a figure 8, using the bridge, equals a mile. There's a nice park for kids to play, and an exercise area for the fit/active. Ducks are plentiful, there are a few geese, and if you're lucky you'll see some of the turtles. All the animals love to be fed, and will surround you in mass if they think you have food. My only problems with the park is that people don't always throw their trash away (their fault I know), and no one mans the park to care for it and clean up. This has been very evident by the massive amounts of trash everywhere (even in the water), and the few times I've had to use the public restrooms. Also, the actual walking/running path needs some serious work done. read more

I was wanting to go to Paws dog park, but stumbled upon this park instead. This park is not too big and not too small. It was just right for Pocky and I. Once we arrived the parking lot was filled with ducks and gooses. Like other places, no feeding. But also like others place. . you'll always have that one person to feed. This park offers fishing, trails, sitting swings, benches, trash cans, golf ball rack, a lookout deck, a gazebo, a pavilion (you can rent), restrooms, playground, workout station, water fountain (area for dog and humans), a stadium, fountains, a large hill, lots of parking, and lakes. The water fountain had a chain attached to it for dogs to drink. It was a pot (like cooking pot) and had algae in the bottom of it. I wasn't going to let Pocky drink out of that. The park isn't the cleanliest either, there were lots of trash on the ground and by the birds. Watch out for bird poop on the trail. Other than that Pocky and I enjoyed ourselves. We sat on the swinging bench by the big ole lake and Pocky got excited over a squirrel. He really had a good time here. I'll come back to fish. read more

Our son took us to this park near where he lives, we sure enjoyed it, had a nice concrete walking/running trail around a small lake. I had a blast taking pics and videos of duck and ducklings and enjoyed the walk, this is a popular event and we see why. We posted some pics, enjoy. Don't have to worry about skate boarding or bikes, not allowed, you can fish but not from the bridges or walkways..... read more

I love this park! It is an absolutely great place to go walking or jogging! I don't know how many times around the trail make a mile but I would guess two or three. It is a very spacious park. they have a small playground for children. There are always a lot of people there and it is not woody so I feel pretty safe coming here. There is a lake of sorts in the middle of the trail with a walkway that goes through it which is pretty cool. There is an abundance of ducks that are pretty gangster. They have no fear for humans. They don't even care if you walk past them, which I don't because I'm definitely not about that life I have seen ducks nip people and don't care to have that experience/ Great park! Very relaxing. I would just avoid walking in the grass if possible as people don't always pick up after their dogs. read more

I love this park because it's super peaceful and I love that the bridge goes through the pond also the set up of chairs and places to sit all face the water. They even have big porch swings which if your like me you to swing and just reflect. The playground is cute and small has a great walking trail. One time around equals a mile and if I'm not mistaken you can even fish here. read more

Pretty cool park if some attention was made to it. Ducks every where which means a lot and I mean a lot of duck poop everywhere. Wish the City of Houston would put more money back into the neighborhood parks that aren't in downtown or the Heights. We deserve nice places to take our families as well. read more

This is a great place to walk. The trail is nice and the scenery is great. The walking track goes around a lake and there is a cement bridge that goes across the lake. When the water is high, you can get your feet wet walking across but most days we were able to use the bridge. There are lots of swings and benches, a gazebo, and a deck for looking at the water and relaxing. There are tons of ducks and geese, lots of birds and turtles. You always see a few people fishing and the signs say there is a limit of fish per day. The signs also say there may be an alligator or rats but we've never seen any of those. There are restrooms, a play area for the kids, ball field, a large hill, a pavilion area for rent and frisbee golf. I've seen people playing this a few times and that is interesting to watch. There are plenty of trees and I would highly recommend this park for your daily exercise. read more

It's a great place to walk/run with a trail on the outside of a large lake where ducks and geese swim and lay around watching you. Lots of trees and sitting along the trail for anyone that may need it. A bridge connects each of the sides if you want to quickly get from one side to another. There's an area with bars, stabilization disk and other work out equipment. This area is next to the bathrooms. Speaking of the bathrooms - they are NASTY. Guys are very lucky when visiting this disgusting part of the park. There's also a pavilion that can be rented but I can't imagine anyone wanting to be outside in that heat for an event. read more

Park has been cleaned up a bit which I love, the ducks are still a bit aggressive one duck tried to take my sons food and had his friends come and try to intimidate us, I'm not a violent person but I must say these guys made me get feisty! I was heated today after visiting the park with my daughter. We went on a walk and after awhile she had to use the restroom. If you know this park then you know that it's a distance to the restroom. By the time we did reach it she was happy she made it only to find out it was locked. Why??????????)? The port a potties were removed as well. By the time we finally made it to the car and tried to head somewhere close for her to pee she didn't make it. I'm am extremely pissed off at the dumb decision made to leave this park open and have the restrooms locked. No warnings no signs posted. Plain ignorance!!!! Don't go here if you don't wear a freaking diaper. Sad!!!!!!! read more

Bike path begins here. Great for inline skating. Smooth path. You will need to cross a few streets. Takes about 20 or so to reach the end. Don't bother crossing spencer because the trail ends soon after you cross. Not worth it. Only a handful of people on bike bath. read more
