This park isn't as nice as my two favorites in League City. There one main trail that circles around into a majestic loop and has a boardwalk feature that leads to nowhere. The ladies restroom looks like a crime scene; it's so creepy. I couldn't even bring myself to walk inside to occupy it. The random tunnel in the ceiling and the overly large giant old fashioned AC unit above the poorly lit stalls. I know I got an eerie feeling about it, so I immediately left. The whole pavilion where the restrooms are housed are outdated and give off that old mildew odor. The parking lot is big, but there isn't much secluded parts to eat lunch in the car, etc. It's a small park and there is one main area with watering hole. The park isn't as frequent. It's more of a meh place. It's okay. Ladies, please watch out for that restroom. read more

The park is nice, spacious and comfortable. There are trails for walking and sitting place also to enjoy the breeze. The turtles are a nice attraction I thought they were stone at first (LOL) not a super park but definitely worth the visit. read more

This is a beautiful, peaceful (other than unleashed dogs) park and great place to walk or jog. It would be much better if dog owners would follow the leash rules and also pick up after their dogs. Otherwise the park is well maintained. Suggest locking your personals in your trunk prior to leaving your car due to windows being smashed and belongings stolen within the last year. read more

Great place to take the family including the fur kids. My fur baby loves this park. The park is always clean and pretty much free of poop. There are trash bins with bags located throughout the park. The scenery is beautiful. There's a huge fountain that the pups are free to swim in on those hot summer days, which are frequent being in the south. There is a trailing for running as well as one for bike rides. A nice pavilion for eating or just sitting to catch your breath. read more

Not a bad little park with walking trails, playground, pond, and a couple of playing fields. Walking to outside the park allows you to connect with other walking paths in adjoining neighborhoods. Likely that the park has planned improvements to include more walking areas and some shade trees, according to a map posted near the pavilion. Hopefully the local government will make that investment as it would be great for the community. read more

I love that there's a walking path, lots of flowers and wildlife, a gorgeous pond with plenty of turtles, and two playgrounds for under 5 and over 5 right next to each other. I would give 5 stars if we could fish in the pond and if the kids' play area was covered. There is at least a large covered area for eating and perhaps smaller games like hopscotch. I would also like a fenced area for which we could let our dogs off leash. There is plenty of open space and doesn't necessarily need to be manicured. I would like more trash cans, but it's currently doable. I bring my dogs and child here on a fairly regular basis. I love how there's a drinking fountain low enough for the pups, too. There's still parts of the park we need to explore. I suppose we best get on that! read more

My pup and I LOVE Sylvan Rodriguez Park! Especially during the day time when hardly any one (or no one) is there! It's like our own, private walk in the (suburbanized) country. Sometimes we see rabbits! The park is very pretty and well maintained. There's a fountain, a pavilion, restrooms behind the pavilion, soccer fields, a playground, and some kind of weird solstice statue. The only thing I don't like about this park is that it clearly states dogs are to be leashed, yet almost every time I visit, I see an unleashed dog. I get that people want to let their dogs run free, but a public park is not the place. That's why there are dog parks! Or random fields. My dog has previously been in a terrifying dog fight (because the other dog was unleashed) and I live in fear of it happening again. You may think you can control your dog, but we truly never know what animals are going to do. I can control my dog (because he's on a leash), but if your unleashed dog approaches us, I'm helpless (except that I carry pepper spray). Please, LEASH YOUR DOG! I will be extremely grateful! read more

The walking, running, bicycling circuit is around 1 mile long and it's very good to just go and do you workout. It is not a a family park with trails and tables. Located right off of Clear Lake City Blvd, in the heart of the 'burbs, is this hidden gem. Sylvan Rodriguez Park boasts 111 acres of natural and serene land. Upon arrival, you'll notice the ample parking. Most of it is to the west of the entrance, convenient to the lacrosse fields. Yes, you read that right, the Lacrosse Field where you can catch an exciting game on a Saturday morning.... Or if you live within walking distance to the park like I do, you can sit in your backyard with your coffee and hear the cheering :) The park has a beautiful lake that attracts ducks, egrets, and other avian life. It definitely gives the park a sense of peacefulness. There are plenty of stone cubes that serve as benches throughout the area in case you need to rest your tootsies. The jogging trail is super clean and covers roughly .5 a mile if you're jogging around the big circle to the east of the lake. It's also pet friendly, with various stations to grab a doodie bag for cleaning up after your furry friends. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a lot of wooded area around, so beware of snakes in the summer months (signs posted in the entrance). Although there is not much development yet, there are big plans for a dog park and an additional multipurpose field in the east end of the park that will make this park the place to be. Until then, the fur kids and I will continue to be regular visitors. read more

Large, 111 acre park with an astronomical theme. From the city's blurb: The park is designed with an aeronautical and archaeoastronomy theme. The circular forms of the parking lot and plaza are aligned with the crescent lake on a north-south axis. As a connection to prehistoric astronomers, stone portals viewed from the plaza's center mark the points where the sun appears on the winter and summer solstices. A spiral labyrinth in the plaza represents the order of the cosmos, and around it are 13 trees, representing the 13 lunar cycles per year. There is a jogging trail, a sitting ring monument, a picnic pavilion, practice fields and lacrosse fields as well as a rocket-themed playground. This is a great park if you just need a very peaceful, beautiful place. read more

I first visited this park last week and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. There were however no leash rule implemented and when reminded, one of the visitors was almost non chalant. I would request park authority to look into this and keep some visitors from spoiling the experience that it should have been. Otherwise, this is the best park in the clear Lake pasadena area! read more

This is probably true of most parks, but it's a great place to go for a jog at odd hours (weekday mornings, i.e.) as it is very secluded. Very large and next to a few restaurants. I haven't tried out the trail yet, but I definitely saw deer the other day and heard cows yesterday during my run. read more
