Gorgeous beach! We loved it! My husband and I went to a university alumni gathering at an alumna's house overlooking Crescent Bay Beach. Her backyard leads directly onto the beach - it was incredible. :) We spent most of our time sitting on the grass & hanging out in her backyard, enjoying the views of Crescent Bay Beach..but we also walked along the beach as well. There was a tidepool section towards the right of the beach; however, it was closed off to the public due to high tides. Unfortunately, we didn't get an opportunity to see the small ocean creatures around those rocks... The beach was actually pretty packed with people when we were there -- btwn 1230-2pm; and I think there was only 1 lifeguard tower on site. We saw people body boarding and sunbathing as well. :) It was a fun time! read more

Came during the week and it wasn't too bad at parking and not very crowded. There was low tide and we got to check out the tide pools. Only thing that suck was people had left there trash and empty beer bottles. If you visit please pick up after your self. This was also a good surfing stop just be aware that there is the tide pools on both side. There is also a restroom and showers. Happy beach day! read more

This is the most beautiful beach area I go to in Southern California. It has amazing rocks, cliffs, water, sand. It is pretty clean, there are some dirty/alcohol bottles laid to waste in the 'cave'-ier areas which is the only thing unappealing. It is beautiful and peaceful in the mornings and not that crowded of a beach. It is my favorite spot to take portraits. read more

Crescent is one of the most beautiful beaches in OC. Although it is a resident's beach without a designated parking lot, it is WORTH the SEARCH because it is clean, water is clear, waves are calm (its a cove) and it has some of the softest sand around. There are about 50 steps down to the sand and its only maybe 50yrd wide and half a mile long but it is still one of my favorites as it has bathrooms, showers, lifeguards, and tide pools! Not a surf beach but I consider that a plus as you don't have to worry about where you float/swim and getting in the way. Also, you can see your feet while in the water and rocks are few and far between. The surrounding residents must have a love/hate relationship with it because its stunning and in their backyard but others come from all over OC and pollute their streets with cars to get in on the action too. If you can get a spot, DEFINITELY DO IT! I'd even recommend driving around a few times to wait for someone to leave... yep, its that good... and its FREEEEEE! read more

This place is so beautiful. Came here this Sunday with my kids & it was super crowded. We had a hard time finding open spots to put our stuff down without feeling like we're invading other people's space, but we found a good spot. My 1 year old loved splashing around in the tidepools. The water was FREEZING but my daughter & I went in anyway. L It was so nice diving through waves and soaking up some sun in the water! Can't wait to go back & hope it's less crowded! read more

I almost hate to write about Crescent Bay Beach because it is still a little secret gem in Orange County, but my never-ceasing urge to be bossy wins this time. Go to this beach! Take your family! Take your boyfriend! Take your dog (From Sept. 15- June 15 only)! Parking is a challenge (free), but if you get there early enough in the day you can find spaces in the neighborhood above the beach. I suggest you scale down your belongings because of the trek. We're not talking Trestles Beach walk but it can be a bit of a challenge for little ones. My kids are old enough to use Tommy Bahama chairs now, so they can take their own things. We bring our dog during the months dogs are allowed on the beach. It is not overrun with dogs, but there are a few there. Bring your tide pool shoes to explore. Please keep in mind the tide pools are protected by Law LBMC 18.29.030. So no taking anything home with you, please. There are docents there from the Laguna Ocean Foundation who can teach your kids about the tide pools (and they do some monitoring on the dl). There are showers and bathrooms but that is about it as far as amenities. It is a good beach from kids but just keep an eye on them as the shore break can be a little rough. read more

I love this town so very much. From the shops on Main where Broadway and Ocean intersect to the different beaches to the beautiful people walking around barely dressed in flip flops, Laguna Beach makes me proud to live in California. My favorite beach is Crescent Bay, a small beach with great waves for body surfing, boogie boarding, kayaking or snorkeling. Surrounded by multi-million dollar houses, Crescent Bay is a hidden gem in Orange County, and I am almost loathe to talk about it! But it is the best beach around - with tide pools (don't take anything home, these tide pools are protected!), great waves, rocks to climb on, and soft clean sand to lie on. Best of all - parking is free, though sometimes difficult to find. You can even bring your dog from September 15 - June 15! My only request if you go - respect the neighbors, respect their property (don't sit on their private stairways from the beach to their house), and be courteous of others around. This isn't Long Beach - have some class. Remember, those of us "in the know" about this beach love it because it's a classy beach. Let's keep it that way! Remember, people have paid millions, if not tens of millions of dollars to have a house on this beach. Let's all work together to keep this beach amazing! read more

THE BEACH, THE WATER, THE PALM TREES, THE MOUNTAINS ALL COLLIDE TOGETHER IN A BEAUTIFUL PAINTING. ITS THE PERFECT SIZE SMALL INTIMATE BEACH. This is a Marine Protected Area so please read the signs on what not to do. Swimmers & Boogie Boarders share the water. There are restrooms & an outdoor shower. Separate your trash into the bins & Recycle. You would not want to trash this beach. It's immaculate. There is no parking on the beach itself but there is metered street parking above. Sometimes if you're lucky you can even snag a Free Spot. There are no Food Stops on the beach so bring your cooler with plenty of things to eat & drink. The Sunsets are Spectacular here! It used to be, you had to have mega bucks & be really rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like a King on a Limited Budget! read more

It's a smaller beach, but gorgeous!!! The sand is warm and soft, and perfect waves to ride on a boogie board or just swim on. We saw Dolphins and the water is clear enough to see fish on the bottom!! Great for family and kids, pet friendly. Parking is tough, but just be patient and you will find someone leaving. read more

Wanted my family to see a different beach than Port Hueneme - not knocking it. We always take the 126 stop to get the best vegetables and fruit anywhere, and the beach is usually quiet not heavily populated. Years and years ago my brothers would bring us kids to crescent so they could dive. My family balked at first saying 71 miles for a beach? ( hueneme is 65 so what's the big deal?) We didn't head out til almost noon but I didn't want to push these cranky ppl. They fell in love with this beach just like I did years ago. Clean clear water, just a touch of breeze, not getting sand blasted. Clean bathroom and free parking. We all picked out our dream homes , and cars ( I picked the Maserati sedan and kids went with the Bentley coup lol I swear we were the only Mexicans on this beach but the ppl were laid back and friendly, family actually complained that if we would have started early we would gotten to enjoy more! read more

One way to access this beach by turning off of PCH on to "Crescent Bay", parking near Crescent Bay Point Park, and walking down a small hill and two sets of stairs. This beach was very clean and and serene. There are warning signs to stay off of the Seal Rock so I would recommend to follow the instructions that Laguna Beach has posted. This beach is great for photos and looks even better in person! For aerial views go to the Crescent Bay Point Park. This is one of my new favorite spots! read more

The most beautiful beach I've been to. We made sure to get there early before the tide got too high so we could see the tide pools. There were crabs and anemones and sea cucumbers :) Also, when you're early there's no trouble with parking. It does get crowded later in the day but at 830 am there was only one other group there. This has been my favorite beach for some time now. Either this one, or Agate St. You can't go wrong hitting the sand here on a weekday, though. The location is secluded enough that you aren't going to experience the crowds that are at Main St. or Aliso Creek. My favorite part of being here is the shoreline to the right of the beach. I spend around 80% of every visit here climbing the rocks as far as I can go, checking out the little tide pools, wading into little beaches, and enjoying the fact that so few people actually can traverse the environment. Unlike the rocky areas on Main St., these can be a little difficult to get to if you aren't a good climber, or you're just weak and can't balance well. The views at any beach in Laguna are beyond gorgeous, but I'm very partial to the sights here. It's clean, has a decent bathroom, usually isn't terribly crowded, and the water is always pristine. read more

Stunningly beautiful large cove beach. We were in Laguna Beach 2 days and came here both days (which was easy, since we were staying at Art Hotel, just across the street). The water was crystal clear and warm. The waves were big and a little rough for the kids, but they played in the whitewater, and my husband and I body-surfed. On Sunday morning, there were dozens of scuba divers who said they saw a lot of fish, including garibaldi. read more

Parking along the residential neighborhood. This place actually has tons of parking spot if you come early. Has a bathroom. Clean but it's somewhat crowded. Crescent Bay Beach seems like a hidden gem but it really isn't. That is, the one special night we discovered it by accident it seemed hidden. This is a great place for a nighttime date. It is extremely dark at night here ;) We came here once very early on a holiday weekend. It was packed already. There isn't much space on this beach. It didn't seem like the people at the beach were locals. To the right and left of the beach there are cliffs. On the left hand side the cliffs have palm trees atop them. Nice! Parking can be a real problem though it was easy for us. The beach is behind a couple of blocks of nice homes. If you are lucky you can park in the residential area. Most likely you will have to park at the meters near the PCH. I'm not sure where else you can park but judging from the amount of people at this beach this day there must be other places to park nearby. read more

I'm a bit hesitant to review this beach, as I have kept this close to my heart for years, but for my fellow Yelper's, I'll let you in on my little secret... Crescent Bay is one of the greatest beaches that I have found on this lovely coastline of Orange County. The water is so crisp and clear that small fishes can be seen swimming near your feet as you look down. There are small tide pools to be explored when the tide is low, and for the most part, the sand is pretty clean, and on more than one occasion, I have seen beach goers and locals alike pitching in to dispose of any trash left about. And, maybe it's my imagination, but I think that the water feels a schosh warmer here. Perhaps due to the crescent shape of the beach that keeps more of the warm water in? Whatever the case, I have tanned (and occasionally sunburned) my fair skin here many a time, and look forward to spending more summers playing Paddle ball, enjoying the beautiful scenery and the comforting lull of the ocean waves. read more

Crescent Bay Beach is the beach my heart cherishes the most because it holds a lot of good memories for me and my friends, but now it holds an especially tender place in my heart because this is where my boyfriend proposed to me! This place is beautiful, serene and even magical at night. The moon's light grazes the sand perfectly and illuminates the tide. The sand is soft and the property lining the beach is also stunning. It's a magnificent place all on it's own, but when you have that special someone next to you... it doesn't compare to what I've written here, it's even better than you can imagine. read more

Too many sand sharks and sting rays! The waves are too big for me to let my child play in. No smoking in the entire city of Laguna Beach and that includes D-bag vapors. No alcohol, NO dogs! No beach during high tide, which happens twice a day. Very limited parking. No fishing? Seriously don't bother coming! read more

Not as crowded as the main beach so there's actually parking spots to be found! Remember white curb is a-ok, red curb is no parking. Sand here is a bit grittier than others and water on this side of the states is fairly cold. A little too many waves to paddle board if you're a beginner (try baby beach instead, that is calm). read more

I love this beach. Im happy to say I can call it on of my fav hangout spots that most of my friends don't know about. The water is so clean. The waves aren't too bad there because of the coral. There's a park to the right of the beach which wont divulge into too much detail. But all ill say is that you can see a small island with seal barking and being lazy lol. read more

A beach that has seen its popularity grow exponentially probably due to the online popularity. Which is fine except for the fact that in the summer there's barely enough room to lay your towel. And let's not even talk about trying to ride a wave while avoiding slamming into at least 6 people. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful here just like at every beach in Laguna. Similar to previous reviewers, I am a bit nervous about reviewing since I really love the quietness and semi-secludedness! Free street parking is available along Cliff Drive in the residential areas; if you get there early enough, you should have no problem finding a spot. We got there around nine-thirty on a holiday weekend, and easily found a place. If it is busy in the residential areas, you may have to park at meters on PCH or further up. The beach is clean and very picturesque. Also, there are bathrooms with running water available right by one of the walkways, which is especially important if you are planning a long, relaxing day at the beach. read more

I'm not sure why everyone thinks this beach is so great. Maybe for Laguana it's great, but found it to be average. You have to find street parking number one, then you have to walk down this long steep walkway to even get to the beach - less fun going up when you are schleping a beach chair, cooler, beach bag. Even less fun when it gets warmer! It's a smaller beach which means everyone is basically sitting on top of you. There was seaweed, sand flies and sand fleas everywhere when I was there Memorial Weekend. Nothing less enjoyable then swatting these buggers away from you while you are trying to enjoy your day in the sun. The upside is the beautiful scenery and the fact that the bathroom is very convenient and there are showers to hose off the sand before you trek up the monster hill. I have spent time on the gulf coast beaches as well as Hawaii and based on those comparisons - I rate this beach average. The last thing I want to do on vacation is have to work for my beach time so definitely not coming back here again! read more
