Another visit to First Cabin Bar, however this one was late-night on a Friday. A little different…read moreclientele than midday, but still a fun atmosphere and friendly, social crowd. Live music by "Pat O'Brien and the Priests of Love" who we were told is the house band. They were loud but rockin' and groovin'. Very small area in front of the stage where you could dance, if so inclined. DRINKS at night. The bartender was not making cocktails like Apple does during the day. Pretty much beer, shots, and very basic drinks (rum & coke, vodka, cranberry & OJ, etc.). They weren't running tabs at night either, it was pay-as-you-go. We had two bottles of Modelo and two Madras and the total was slightly more for the second round (not sure why) but it was too loud to try and discuss it with the bartender. On street parking, or a small lot in the back, off the alley. After only three visits, I can't say that this place is our regular hangout, but it's become one of our favorite watering holes. If it is too spicy, you cannot get the real taste of the dish. The restaurant is nice and clean. Service staff were friendly. This place is located at a very busy plaza where there are many restaurants. There is underground parking but it can be a problem during peak hours.

The establishment successfully charged their card but when it came time to return it the card was nowhere to be found. What happened afterward is what troubled me most though. Rather than taking responsibility...offering meaningful assistance or even demonstrating genuine concern....we were told that they "might have given his card to someone else," that "there was nothing they could do," and most astonishingly... that "it sucks, but it happens". But losing someones debit card while it is in your care should not simply be dismissed as something that "happens". We contacted the business through multiple platforms. We returned in person the following day to see whether the card had been found. At every opportunity we hoped someone would take ownership of the situation and make a sincere effort to help resolve it..that did not happen. And there is another piece of this experience that I cannot comfortably ignore. The person I went with was a person of color. Afterward I read other reviews describing troubling experiences at this establishment involving people of color. I cannot claim to know what motivated the way my compatriot was treated and I will not make an accusation I cannot prove. But when a pattern begins to emerge businesses should be willing to examine it rather than dismiss the people raising concerns. Ultimately this is about something very simple... dignity, accountability and the way we choose to treat one another. Mistakes happen...cards get misplaced...employees make errors but character both individual and institutional is revealed in what happens next. A business cannot always prevent a mistake but it can choose whether to respond with responsibility, compassion and respect. In this case that opportunity was there repeatedly. Unfortunately though this establishment chose not to take it. At the very least they could have offered to reverse the charge on their card to compensate for the mistake. I hope management takes these concerns seriously...not simply because of one lost debit card, but because every person who walks through the door deserves to know that if something goes wrong, their concern will matter, their property will matter, and they will be treated with the basic dignity and respect every customer deserves.

I hadn't been to The Crest in a while. The vibe has changed. It was fairly dead and the food/service was bad. Our food was overdone and took forever. It wasn't even that crowded. The bartender, Charlotte was nice but, the bald owner guy had an attitude problem and appeared to have skipped the songs we played on the jukebox. They would come on and get cut short. We suspected this because he had a controller in his hand and appeared to be pointing it toward the jukebox. The bald guy is not to be confused with one of the bartenders who works on the weekend named Mariano. Mariano is very nice. This bald man had a mustache and a very unhappy look on his face. I contacted the AMI jukebox app and they confirmed and refunded the credits on my account. If I had not done this I would have lost my money. That's practically stealing. You pay money to hear songs and they get skipped because the owner doesn't like them. Please see the screenshot of the email confirmation from AMI below. We won't be planning to come here in the future. We'll just go to Clearman's Galley. The food and atmosphere is better there anyway. read more

I work in the food/customer service industry and the way the bartender (Janet) treated me from the moment I walked in was absolutely atrocious. This was my first time here and I genuinely never want to come back. There's nothing worse than when you have no choice but to deal with someone that is supposed to service you but is having a bad day and takes it out on your for no reason. I understand people have bad days. Can't really help it but as a result of her mismanagement of her personal life and feelings and projecting them on customers, I will NEVER come back. My entire group of 9 left within 20 minutes because they also received the same terrible treatment. I really hope management handles this issue. As one of the first few bars open since the pandemic, the service is really saddening. I would expect to be welcomed instead I felt repelled by Janet. read more

Me and my boo really liked this place.good drink prices & excellent food prices.This was the first time I tried the $7.99 steak dinner & I was impressed!I think it was an 8oz. sirloin,I ordered medium just because I wasn't sure,but guess what?Nailed it!Next time I'll order Med-rare.Came with a potato & little salad,butter & sour cream.Not a bad deal at all.My boo & I got lucky on a Saturday & got a booth right away.The cook was funny,she took orders & cooked @ the same time.Would have given a 5 if they had more help or faster service read more

Sat at a table for awhile, no one acknowledged we were there. Waitress looked at us as we walked in, but said nothing. Wasn't busy, maybe 8 people besides us. We moved to the bar and finally were acknowledged. We came to eat, but had 1 drink and left. Waitress never even looked at us again . Service is terrible. The off going bartender was fed, but we weren't even offered to order. Not the first time we have had terrible service here. read more

The Crest is dee Best!!! So choice!!! Don't let the location, the pre-ban smoked aroma, or the age of the regulars bother you. It is one of the last hold outs for authentic Temple Citians bar goers and booze hounds everywhere. Cheap strong drinks, pub grub apps, and the infamous $8 steak. I remember when it was $4.99! Went to this place the first time with my friend and the drinks are phenomenon. The only time you'll get drinks to it's truest combinations and mixes are here. The alcohol mixes here are spot on and are not like any bar places. Shoutout to mark the best bartender in town! read more
