$8.99 steak dinner, enough said! Ok ok...let me say a little more. The inside is your typical dive bar but the staff is nice. Steak is always well cooked and comes with a baked potato, garlic bread and salad. A great deal on a budget. The drinks are cheaply priced and good too. Let me note though, the staff is older and at a slower pace, so don't go there if you are pressed for time, it will take awhile to get your food...heck, you are at a bar, have a drink or two or three to kill the time :) read more

4.5 stars I came here because my bf read some reviews and thought we should try it out. I was sold on the $8 steak dinner. Someone said something about seniors and twentysomethings..... there were 2 twentysomethings... us. The rest of the bar was 40+ yr olds and we were the only asians. We felt so out of place, but we sat in a booth anyway. I liked the mood and love how there are no crazy drunk kids screaming in my ear or spilling drinks on me. It's very 40+ish casual. The waitress was accomodating, although she did not stop by frequently to check on us. We did have a chance to ask for things we needed so we didn't mind that she didnt ask if everything was ok 5 times throughout the night. She also recommended a drink, which happened to be my fav, and yes it was pretty strong :) and did I mention cheap? The $8 steak dinner was realyl good! As mentioned before, comes with salad (the baggie kind) which was slightly old, and a yummy baked potato. The portion is quite filling and the steak is as good as a $20something place. I've been thinking about going back to this place mostly for the steak. I would go back for steak dinner and maybe some drinks (hehe it's a bar, yes) anytime. read more

Went here on a Monday. There were about 6 people here, a group of three 20 somethings at a booth & playing darts and some seniors at the bar. Everything here is unbelievably low priced. Beers were around $3 for imports, my jack on the rocks was around $3.25, they were giving out freshly baked cookies. The bartender was very friendly and even let us know to come back on Sunday when the cook was off and he was going to cook pasta and garlic bread at home and bring it in to feed all the customers. I believe he does this on a regular basis on Sundays. They also have cheese burgers for $3.99 or steak for $7.99. They only take cash here, but you don't need much to spend here. read more

Found this place, just looking around on yelp. Nice Dive bar feel, without the odd feeling you walked into the wrong bar. Been there twice, had a great time both times. Felt welcomed and everyone was friendly and nice. Prices were great. Drinks weren't bad. Food is pretty good too. Only down side it's s Cash Bar only. read more

Great dive bar the last of its kind with a good steak dinner plate! Cash only bar chill vibe pool table.

This is a nice local bar that I heard about from a friend. It is in the same shopping center of the 99 Cents Store (front located on Las Tunas) and Crest is located around the corner on Temple City Blvd. It's sort of a hole in the wall type place but it's a pretty cool spot to go for a drink and hang out. The staff here is always friendly and very attentive. They have a pool table, a darts machine, music box, and a scratcher machine for those who just cant get enough of those scratchers (guilty I am). But they make their drinks pretty good and they do pour a good amount of vodka into that vodka and cranberry. They have a few items on the menu including: a $7.99 steak dinner, corn dogs, popcorn, etc. Its a nice place to visit even if you just want to get out of the house on a weeknight for a cheap dinner and a couple of drinks. I have yet to try the steak dinner but one of these days I will. read more

Ok, so the crest is a dive bar. BIG TIME Dive. I came on a Saturday night- it was pretty empty but that's cool. It's not as dim as you'd think after reading the reviews (think black angus dim) - i came for the $8 steak dinner which was literally cook at the end of the bar (it's pretty cool actually seeing it cooked). Our server (Emily) was nice and fun. She also cooked our steaks- and they were pretty good. The only thing I would do to improve the $8 dinner is NOT microwave the potatoes (how the hell does Wendy's do it- Crest please do it like that) and have a fresher bag of ready made salad. Other than that they have a new digital jukebox (heard Brit Brit twice), a pool table, a long bar, and red booths. My vodka tonic was $2.50 and my Steak/potato/salad was $8. Good Deal for a dinner. i'd come back. It's a cash only bar so bring your cash and tip Emily well- she's cool. read more

Nice dive bar. But, this dive bar is mostly old folks knocking down drinks and/or burgers and steaks. Unique place where you can see the grill sitting in the corner of the dining room. Full transparency. The cheeseburger is less than $6, and it is the real deal. The steaks are cheap, but they are very tasty. Two of us paid $8 plus tip for a couple of wells. The bartenders are so friendly. This place does fill up, so come early or expect to stand a bit while you hunt a table where someone is leaving. You can make this place even cheaper or far more expensive by playing HotSpot. A proper dive bar definitely has HotSpot showing on at least two screens, lol. For entertainment, there is a jukebox, sometimes a DJ, sometimes karaoke. There are different KJs. One of the KJs and his son hog the mic from the customers, because they can. A Temple City icon, located in the heart of town. Dive bar? For sure. I lived here for 15 years before I ever set foot in The Crest. I had heard about it from many friends, driven by it a hundred times, even parked next to it while shopping. I was finally enticed to enter by a fellow AYSO volunteer after we had refereed 4 games one blazing hot summer day. I had a great time. The beer was cold and inexpensive, the crowd was cool and friendly, the service was good, the food was served quickly and didn't disappoint. Turns out that The Crest was all I had heard it was, which is a great testimonial to why it's been around for so very long, and continues to thrive today. read more

Been here a couple times and I love the dive bar scene. My usual bartender is a cute blonde named Jen, she's amaaaaaazing! And not only that, but the prices are super bangin'. This is the spot. All of the bartenders here are so sweet and constantly nice, Charlotte is another amazing bartender. I may be biased, but the bartenders here are pretty much my favorite. read more

Have been coming to this place for 3 years. It's a welcoming local watering hole with great, stiff drinks and friendly service. Prices on the meals cannot be beat, although they'll be going up slightly starting 6/1/15 (up $0.25 on beer and $0.50 on the steak dinner). Heard there are new owners, who've added some lovely cocktails to the menu. I tried the pink rose martini--fabulous. There are also several new flat screen TVs over the booths, a jukebox, dartboard, and pool table. Just a great spot to hang out with friends and enjoy some good times. read more

One of my favorite small bars in the area. I try to avoid the overpriced crowded spots like the one's in Old Town Pasadena. The Crest is walking distance from where I am currently staying and the price's cannot be beat. They even got live music every once in a while so that's cool. read more
