It is official, they're back! One of my favorite spots in Alhambra with the awesomest bartender and staff is back and on time for this years football season. I Noticed some movement so had to confirm it and it is a fact that they are back! Currently they're open from 3pm-12am or depending on business and theyre still stocking up on supplies. As of today they have a mostly stocked bar with five beers in draft and more to come. The kitchen is open with a slight change in their menu options. My favorite bar before the closure, with their great vibes and daily specials. When I saw they were open, I had to come inside to see what changes. Luckily, it seems as though not much has changed except possibly new management? They have a limited menu right now but the staff said they plan to slowly roll out more stuff as they reopen within the next few weeks. I went there around 5pm, and it was almost empty. As soon as i entered, staff stopped me with hand gesture rather than how many people or greeting and asked me anything to help even before i try to take a seat. I told him i am gonna have some drink, and he was telling me to take high chairs since he is expecting some crowds soon. He didn't even ask how many people and try to put me on the tiny table. So i am not even allowed to sit on comfort seats when nobody else was there. It is very different from my last visit. Is it a racism or what? I had a really good impression here and visited multiple times with a good review for chill working with some drinks and this never happened before. I don't look rich enough to order a lot, or i look like a camper with one cup i suppose? 'Expecting large crowds' when i see up to 5 people there? This will be my last visit. This is a regular spot for me. Specially for the weekday specials. Monday's they have the burger special which is very well made and juicy, soft buns and a total flavor bomb. With a pint of beer, it is a great deal. $15 Tuesdays is the day we come the most and I started noticing more people coming too. The New York steak with a side plus a pint of beer $20. Get it rare so it can come medium rare. Also, ask for the fries on the side because I am not sure why the standard is laying the steak and sauce over the fries which makes the soggy almost immediately. Sweet potato fries are excellent and I highly recommend that over fries. The tater tots are also crispy and plentiful. The beer menu has shrunk significantly which sucks. Hope they can bring back more crafts. Service can be slow on Tuesdays because it's busy and the staff does it all. Cool place to watch games and chill. read more

This is one of the bars I frequent since they offer great food deals Monday thru Wednesday. Happy hour is popular and this place is never without a customer. The only drawback is the service and they have a high turnover on their wait staff as I always see new employees every time I stop by here. Henry was an amazing server who helped make my group's first visit surely not our last! He was great at accommodating our group size by putting 2 tables together. The music and TV's weren't distracting so that's a plus! Then Henry helped us navigate the All Day Happy Hour offerings since we came on a Sunday. We got some refreshing drinks and delicious food ~ we got one of the last Scotch Eggs and Egg Roll to share at the table. I also got the Shepherd's Pie which came out piping hot! Limericks definitely has their food program down. My experience with their food offerings has been nothing short of amazing. It's not fine dining but they offer great plated dishes that would rival a great steakhouse! The folks working here are super attentive and very knowledgeable about their food program. The service is great, never had a problem with getting sub par service here. The vibe is super lively when it gets crowded. If you come for a game, it gets packed and be ready for a limited menu on food items. People will probably ding them on this but when you have a small kitchen and an even smaller kitchen staff trying to turn out hundreds of plates at one time, you'll understand why they have to go with a short menu on game days. Well I tried them when they first opened and was not a fan, and now I gave them another chance, and I guess it will be my swan song. It's supposedly an Irish pub, but it feels more like a standard sports bar inside. Located on the busy main strip of Alhambra with all the restaurants between Atlantic and Garfield, sits Limerick's. There is free parking in the back, which is good. Service is actually incredibly friendly and attentive. I'm sure if I complained about the food, they would've taken it off, but I didn't see the point. The food here, at least the Irish food, is just not good. Went on a Tuesday night, so one dish we had was the special - a "top" sirloin with a side (got tater tots) and a beer (got a perfectly poured half and half - the best part of the meal). While they can pour a mean Guinness, the steak is smothered in a not so terrific gravy and mushrooms. It was okay, but not something we'd get again. The most successful dish was the spicy chicken sandwich my kid had. He said it was decent. I had the sheperd's pie, which was a disaster in my opinion. It needed way more potato and less cheese on top. The inside was soupy and didn't have a great flavor. What struck me the most and was off putting is that the cast iron it is served in had a strong rusty smell, probably from cleaning products or just from age. Either way, it overpowered the smell of the pie and made for a very unsavory experience. I didn't finish it. The waitress did take notice and asked if I didn't enjoy it. But what can they do. Someone must like it. I don't. Basically, while I would maybe come in for a half and half if I craved one, I seriously doubt I will be eating the food here again any time soon. Cannot recommend. Griffins of Kinsale in South Pasadena is close by and so much better. read more

A couple months back, my housemate and I were walking on Main Street and stumbled upon Limericks Tavern. We've been back almost every Monday for their $10 Burger + Beer happy hour ever since!! My go-to order is the Limericks Burger with seasoned fries. The Limericks Burger is pretty amazing. It's cooked perfectly, super juicy, and loaded with crunchy bacon and a really good whiskey bbq sauce that's sweet and tangy. They also have a great selection of beers on tap, from local crafts to popular favorites. I found that the Einstock Toasted Porter to be really refreshing and pairs well with the food. I was looking for a spot to meet up with friends and Limericks seemed ideal. However, what I didn't expect was to arrive to a completely packed house due to the NFL Playoff (49ers vs Cowboys). We were greeted immediately by a very nice man. He asked if we wanted a table and sat us at the last available booth. Our server Rihanna was delightful and kept her cool amongst the chaos. She recognized my friend from the bar where he works. Despite being busy our food came out quickly as did our drinks. I kept it simple with a vodka soda. One friend had a whiskey neat, and the other a Jack n' Coke. Our drinks were served in plastic cups, which I thought was odd but it was most likely due to how busy they were. I ordered another drink after the game was over and it came in a glass. One friend ordered a burger with fries, the other had a Vegan burger with onion rings. They both enjoyed their selections. I helped with the fries, which were quite tasty. Limericks Tavern is a modern gastropub that serves Irish & American comfort food. They also have 60 different kinds of draught beer. There are plenty of TV's - including one in each booth. It can get loud and lively during games, especially it its playoffs. There is an outdoor patio with heated lamps in case you want a quieter environment. Shout out to the staff. This place was packed to the gills, yet the service was not lacking. Several other employees checked on us frequently in addition to Rihanna. I'll definitely come back to watch a game or enjoy Happy Hour. This is one of those places you past by and don't think much of until you actually walk in. Met one of the nicest dudes ever (Bear). This place is close to home so it's always a good option for me and my husband. The drinks are good and the food is always tasty. I planned to meet two girlfriends and wanted to find a casual place to talk and watch a sports game. I pass by Limericks Tavern all the time so I wanted to give it a try! There is parking on the street or if you turn to the corner parking lot when you pass the 85 degree bakery, you're golden! We walked in and sat next to the bar. The bartender, waiters and waitresses were all very friendly and helpful. Once we ordered drinks and food, it all came out super fast! My friends and I stumbled upon Limericks Tavern while visiting Alhambra on a Thursday night and wandered in. Seating was pretty quick, and so were our orders and drinks. I ordered a Paloma, and I thought it tasted alright. I felt it was off though, kinda like when something is missing. I couldn't tell if it was too watered down or not, but something felt off. That night, they had an open karaoke with a live DJ, and I thought it was an unexpected adventure. We sang quite a few songs, and they have an okay selection of American songs. The selections for songs in other languages were quite small despite the songs being queued up on a website server, which surprised me. I love Limericks! I'm obsessed with trying new happy hour spots, so I don't know how I overlooked Limericks in the past when I literally tried almost every other bar/restaurant on Main Street. Seriously, I didn't even know it existed until I walked right by it the other day, despite having been to restaurants right across the street or next door before. Limericks is an Irish pub style sports bar with THE BEST service in the game, and delicious food and cocktails. Our waitress was super friendly and went above and beyond, as I wanted to try a few cocktails I saw in the Yelp photos that were no longer on the current menu. I was able to order the Limericks Lemon Martini, one such off-menu drink, and it was both aesthetically pleasing and top-notch in taste. I also ordered the mac and cheese which was fire, and the bread pudding which was divine and an absolute-must. One of my go to bars I like to go in the SGV (there's not much to choose from) ~ Parking: Garage behind the pub Staff: Always nice, happy and fun. Never had any bad servers whenever I'm here. Food: Their kitchen closes early, so I never got to try any of their food items. T_T I usually come 1-2 hours prior to closing..I did get lucky one time, right before they closed to try the Irish Nachos, which were bomb. Will try their food one day ~ Drinks: Amazing ! This place used to be good but the customer service has gone WAAAAY down. I come here a lot and in more recent occasions, bartenders are too busy making out and hanging out with their gf's while being clocked in and working. Waiter's are slow to even come by and sit us. We sit ourselves most of the time. I thought I was overreacting when they took their time coming to our table to ask for drinks but timed it and they took about 25-35mins to come by each time to order anything at all. They'll get us one drink and won't come around for another 30mins. One thing that hasn't changed is the food! Amazing, delicious food! Which is what I would give 5 stars. Waiters, bartenders? 1) Limerick's Burger The burger itself was so big!! It was so big, even our dad was only able to eat half! I personally loved the whiskey glaze in it and if you love bleu cheese then you definitely have to try this. I do recommend getting the burger cooked medium so it's not as dry! 2) Clam Chowder We love a thick clam chowder that has a good amount of clams. This had the perfect consistency and was perfectly creamy. There were so many clams and also bacon bits! 3) Pastrami Sandwich The pastrami meat itself was not dry or too fatty! The sandwich itself wasn't soggy like some sandwiches are. 4) Calamari Our favorite calamari but I do think this isn't a good dish to eat at home since it does get soggy and soft. After picking my wife from work,I decided ro take her to Limericks Tavern Irish Pub in Alhambra it's next door to 85 C Bakery cafe a very popular bakery in Alhambra. I park the car in the same structure were the 85C bakery cafe and Limericks Tavern. They we walk a very distances to the pub wow it was busy because it was a Friday night. The patio very full we put our name on the waiting list and see we get a table soon but the chances may be slim because they the pub was showing the NBA Finals. We know everyone is watching the game because the Lakers are in the finals and they are cheering the Lakers to win the NBA title. They one of the waiter told us they are putting tables outside of their patios and they we got a table it was nice of them. They the waiter took to the table and we were seated and he pass us the menu and we thank him. We were looking at menu and see what we like to get on the menu my wife like the pastrami sandwich,I know she was very hungry like a tiger and she like pastrami. For myself it was hard I like to get the clam chowder because I love it and the like chicken pesto sandwich a tough choice I decided to get the pesto chicken sandwich it was a good choice. We order our drinks my wife order a glass of Mascato she like to drink. I order a classic Irish drink a pint of Guinness I haven't have a Guinness for a long time. We waited for our food and watch the good and see the people watching the game and enjoying their food and drinks cheering the Lakers. They the waitress brought us our food wow our food looks ao good. My wife pastrami sandwich look mouthing watering good and my chicken pesto sandwich was looking different than other chicken pesto sandwich I have try in the past. The sandwich was a in square some thing different and also I notice the bread was toasted I like how they present the sandwich a new concept of the sandwich. I took a bit of the the sandwich great flavors and the pesto was good but the chicken was very tasty and the flavor of the pesto on the add more flavor in the chicken I really enjoy the sandwich. My wife enjoy her pastrami sandwich very much including her Moscato and also enjoy my Guinness that's a authentic Irish drink company with a great meal. The food is good here. They make everything from scratch but it doesn't take long. They have a nice outdoors seating for parties between 2-5 people. You can watch a game there because they put a tv outside as well. We came during a happy hour and got $5 margaritas. They also have some food on happy hour menu. Unfortunately they don't tell you that food on the happy hour menu is actually full price. I was surprised to see it on the check. Their explanation was that they are struggling during covid and keep food at full price even during happy hour. I am totally fine with that and prefer to pay full price to keep businesses running, but I think they should mention that beforehand otherwise you end up feeling lied to. read more
