The bartenders were so rude, they kicked us out within the first ten minutes of being here, even though we were being respectful and listened to the rules. I love this place but was disappointed with the food this time. Had the cheeseburger and wings. The cook is new (he says he's been there for 3 years but it didn't show). His timing of the food was horrible. Our burgers sat for more than 5 mins before he brought them to us. Top of the bun was cold and burger just warm. Wings used to be grilled but not today and just luke warm. Was informed by the cook that he doesn't like to make the wings but would anyway. To his credit he did take them off the bill. It wasn't a big crowd on a Saturday night, super chill. There is a pool table (they charge like 75 cents) for the balls or whatever. There is also a jukebox (is that what they call it?) Haha. My friend and I came on a Saturday night and it was actually pretty popping that night. Now I don't know if that was because it was also a low-key high school reunion that somebody had mentioned, but most, if not all, of the booths were taken and we just luckily found two spots by the bar. The service was friendly, just not fast. The bartender we talked to, Jennifer, was super friendly, but it was basically just her taking orders at the bar so sometimes it was hard getting her attention. Besides that, this place is classic local bar and the atmosphere was friendly. My friend got the "D" burger and he said it was AMAAAZING so I'll be back to try that. I think for the gathering they were hosting they also had some complimentary hot dogs near the end of the night so that was pretty sweet. Came in at 6:30 on a Thursday, luckily there was one table left open for me and my friends. Its a dive bar so you sit yourself. Place was pretty packed, and there was only 1 bartender and 1 waitress working. And guess what, the lone waitress was also the lone chef at the time! I was amazed by that. It took a long time for our food to come, our final entrees came almost an hour after we we sat down but even still I give props to the waitress. Often you can tell when wait staff are overworked and frustrated and their service suffers, but she kept an upbeat attitude. She was literally jogging from tables to take orders and back to cook and smiling the whole time lol! Despite being insanely busy she still stopped by our table several times throughout to check if we needed anything. I don't know if they were just short staffed that evening but either way major props to her. Steak is now 8.99. I got a potato and a salad but not garlic bread like others have mentioned. The steak was pretty good quality for the price. Also shared a cheeseburger, again really good for the price of 4.60. The meat patty was pretty thick and juicy. Comes with a little bag of chips Beers were 3.25. I had a whiskey sour for 3.50. It was bigger than other places and pretty good. Doesn't get cheaper than that. Only reason its not a 5 is because the service was slow (despite our waitress awesome effort) and the dive bar atmosphere is not for everyone. But I would definitely come again. read more

Came in on Monday night because I was craving something other than Asian plus wanted to finish the Alabama vs Clemson championship game. This bar has good reviews on Yelp so I took s shot. Usually I have very low trust on dive bars review mostly because the reviewers are normally under the influence.. Especially reviews regarding food..but in this case the reviews were on point. I order the Steak Dinner and I am happy to report that the meat was tender, the bake potato was nice and the salad fresh and crispy.. I can't think of anything one can expect for a dinner under $10..I had steak dinners on other way more expensive places and the result was not as satisfying. Great dive bar that serves a $8.99 steak dinner. It's actually pretty good piece of steak, I ordered it medium rare and it was not overcooked, as other reviewers said. The wings are good too but they are grilled, not fried, and they are NOT spicy at all, despite being called "Flaming Wings." I wish they would serve beer from the tap but that's probably how they keep the prices so low, along with cash-only good ol' tax evasion. I have been to the Crest on two occasions, both times after enjoying professional successes, so I'm biased! This joint is an absolute working class dive (Just how I like the drinking establishments I patronize!). In my pair or experiences, everyone is very friendly, very white (an oddity for this portion of the SGV), and very middle-aged. The beer was cold, the atmosphere filled w/ music, and the patrons were happy. What else could I want after spending all day in trial? I can't speak for the food at the Crest Lounge b/c I haven't had any, however, I look forward to getting royally trashed at the Crest on multiple occasions in the future! read more

Fun low key dive bar with a great town atmosphere for locals. I just moved to Temple City in March and have already been here at least 5 times. Beers for $4 and steaks for $9. They tend to overcook the steak so I would recommend asking for medium rare if you like your steak medium. It depends on who's grilling that night too. But it's a dive bar, and it's $9, so we never complain! The steak comes with a baked potato and small salad. Yummm. They do karaoke on the weekends. There's a pool table at the front of the bar. My husband and I have been coming to The Crest for years. They are very upfront about what they are, a dive bar with a limited menu. As long as you take The Crest at face value you won't be disappointed. It is cash only. The servers are all nice, sometimes if it's busy service can be a little slow, but I think it's all part of the "charm." I've gotten both the cheeseburger and steak entrees and I've enjoyed both. You really can't beat the prices for food and drinks. I even had my birthday party there a few years ago and the owners were really nice and accommodating. They set up an extra table for us and let me bring in my own cake. It was easily one of my favorite birthday parties. We love coming here. read more

And then when you remind them you're still waiting, there is no apology, even when they are serving other people steak dinner who arrived way after you arrived. The chef they have recently acquired is superb, he knows his beef, The only setback I have is the server on Monday through Thursday has never apologized for her rudeness, and I'm not sure if she did that I would have to worry about some type of revenge. I'm pretty disappointed at how downhill this place has gone. Prices have continued to rise with a complete change of staff. Now I understand that ownership reserves the right to make whatever changes they see fit, but believe me when I say that these are steps in the wrong direction. Service: I've never had so much difficulty flagging down staff to place an order for more drinks. My wife was told that they didn't have the ingredients to make a caipirinha (sugar, ice, cachaca), and when she asked instead, for just rum, ice, and sugar, they said they didn't have it. What kind of bar doesn't have rum, ice, and sugar? You can chalk it up to the bartender or server misunderstanding, but when we clarified it, I can't see how it can get any clearer than that. Price: What started off as a $7.99 steak dinner has increased to $9.49, and the "Big D" Cheeseburger has gone up from $4.75 to $5.25. You may think, "why do you care about the food?" or "they can raise the price of whatever they want", but with a drastic decrease in quality of service, I can't see any justification. I remember a Jack and Coke (my drink of choice) used to be $3.75, and it's gone up to $4.25. Couple that with the fact that I have to wait usually ten to fifteen minutes to get any sort of service now, makes coming to Crest a waste of my time. Overall: I've been coming to Crest for 3 years and I usually end up staying for 3-4 hours minimum whenever I come here with a couple friends, but I can't see why I should continue doing so. Prices have gone up, crappy selection in terms of beer (tap doesn't exist) and hard liquor, staff and service has drastically changed, and this simply just isn't the Crest I used to know. Edit: I was contacted by the owner, and the first part of the message questioned if my review was "not a fake". Truly disappointing. read more

This used to be my favorite weekly spot. I've been going here religiously same day every week for a while now with a group of friends each time. Since this place changed owners the service, food and patrons have changed....not for the better at all. It's hard to order drinks and food, doesn't feel like your local cheerful bar anymore. Now it's a hipster/hip hop watering hole instead of your local, warm, country hang out spot. Something needs to change fast. Definitely won't be coming back for a while. read more

"Where a man can be a man" - My friend said that the first time he went here. LOL If you love dive bars the way I do, you can't help but fall in love with the Crest! It's a local dive bar that looks like it's straight out of the 60's. FANTASTIC! Everyone is raw and non-pretentious. What you see is what you get kinda vibe. I love it! I usually end up getting drinks at the bar instead of waiting for the waitresses to come around. The service can be slow at times but, the drinks are dirt cheap (think 2.50 gin tonics, 3.00 beer, and shots for 3-5 depending on what you get) and usually strong as all hell !!!! But don't go here if you are expecting the latest martini or any kind of fluffy, silly drink. They make a damn good long island though. They've got steak dinners which are pretty good too. Although I wouldn't go here just for the steak. Pool table, dart board, and a jukebox definitely keep me entertained while I'm throwing back gin and tonics. OH! There are also a random selection of old paperback books that line the back of the booths/tables which have provided us with lots of entertainment in the past. :) I'm not gonna lie, I usually end up leaving here tanked since drinks are so cheap and strong.
