Climate Care Heat & Air

(I will be cross-posting this on several sites). TLDR at bottom…read more My experience with Climate Care has made me a customer for life. The AC stopped blowing cold air on Sunday night. Normally, we're the kind of people who try to fix most of our problems on our own before calling someone, but my husband was out of town for a business trip all week, and I didn't feel comfortable trying to diagnose things on my own. I knew I couldn't wait 6 days without AC. So I started doing research. The first guy I called gave me a long list of things that probably needed to be replaced, and gave me a quote of around $400. I gave him my concerns about him diagnosing the AC unit over the phone without even looking at it. He became very rude and told me he could give me an in person quote on Wednesday. I told him to make me an appointment for Wednesday and decided to keep looking around for other options. I'm pretty sure I called at least 15 other places. Several of them quoted me around the same price, or couldn't make it to look at the unit until several days later. I actually ended up finding Climate Care on complete accident while I was looking for a phone number to another place, and I truly believe that God was on my side that day. I was extremely annoyed by the time I called, and I know that was definitely heard over the phone but they were friendly with me the entire time, and he told me he could come look at my unit that day, within the next hour and a half if I was available and give me a quote based on what they found. My prayers had been answered. Brian (I think?) showed up when he was supposed to, and immediately started looking at my unit. Within 15 minutes, he had a diagnosis ready. When he came back he explained the problem to me in simple and matter-of-fact kind of way. I run into service guys all the time (especially in auto shops) who think that because you're a woman you just won't understand the situation, or you don't know what you're really looking for. I did not feel that way at all talking to the guy, and it was a serious breath of fresh air. I was more than prepared for him to tell me that I needed to replace this long list of parts and it was going to cost me over $400. He told me I only needed to replace one part, quoted me around $80 and had the problem fixed for me around 2 hours later. He even took a little bit of extra time to clean up around and inside the unit (at no extra cost to me). I was very pleased with my service and I'm convinced that my AC is working better now than it ever did. I will definitely call them first with any issue I have in the future. TLDR: Was quoted $400 and several days wait to get started on the work for the first company I called. I found Climate Care on accident, and have never been so well taken care of. They were extremely nice, and looked at my unit that day and gave me a quote of around $80. They went above and beyond to make sure my unit was working properly and even cleaned around and inside the unit to make sure that the AC was working 100%.

We purchased our new air conditioner unit for outside from them and they again were great to work with! Our second call was to check a leak in the wall behind the shower. It wasn't a good experience. The tech seemed a bit full of himself. That cost $99 and the tech told us we needed to tear out the whole shower to stop the leak. A second opinion proved it to be a simple leak down a water pipe and I fixed that on my own. Next service we were told that a cleaning of our duct system was needed. I ask if they would put a new anti-bacterial bulb in the unit after the cleaning and they told me no problem. So I ordered one. Today we had to Haden & Andrew come to clean the duct system and they were great. When they arrived I reminded them of the bulb they had agreed to plug in. After the cleaning, they were to mist the ducts with a machine to kill anything bad left in the ducts. Unfortunately the machine used to spray this mist would not power on so they called the office to find out what to do. Afterwards I was told they would need to come back when they got the machine working and they also were told to charge me $65 to change the light bulb. After buying a new unit, a cancelation and rescheduled appointment due to broken equipment, incorrect evaluation of a leak, crooked hole in my wall I told them no to the $65 charge and took my 75 year old bottom to the attic an replaced the bulb in less than five minutes. I felt insulted. And now we wait again for the sprayer to be fixed and them to return to finish this service. The best part of the visit today was Haden and Andrew, they were great guys, answered questions and worked with me to move my dogs and cat out of the way, they did good work and I appreciated them. At present, we are still waiting to get them back to spray the ducts, it is important to us as we have our daughters and children here and we have all experienced upper respiratory and sinus problems as well Asthma recently. I feel if anything a discount should have been offered due to all the trouble it has been getting this partially done.

I just so happened to be waiting to get a paint sample when the nicest lady approached us, she was so kind that we couldn't help engage. We took her up on the tune up, it was $29 and honestly we live in new construction so the added peace of mind was nice. Fast forward to later that day and the scheduler called us to schedule. I had my typical, I'm free and flexible all day. Only for Monday to arrive and I was in fact not free and not flexible. I provided William with a very small window I would have after navigating a hectic morning. William was fantastic, he chatted a bit and went right to work. He was respectful of my home, he was thorough in his inspection and tune up, he has one of those kind smiles that reassures you nothing can go wrong! He didn't attempt to upsell me or offer me anything I didn't need and I appreciated that he was respectful of my time. Looking forward to future service tune ups as the newest customer of their regular maintenance service!

I strongly recommend avoiding Comfort Wave for any service other than basic tune-ups! I own a…read moreduplex and arranged two work orders with Home Depot. One side was completed for $25.00, which included a detailed, complimentary diagnostic report with printouts and pictures, allowing me to consider future services. On the other property where my elderly veteran father lives, the thermostat wasn't working, so I fixed it by changing the battery. The Tech heard me telling my dad I would change the battery and quickly informed me that diagnosing the issue would incur a $66 rework fee rather than just the Home Depot tune-up cost special for $25.00. However, at the end of the second service, I was charged a non-refundable $166.00 diagnostic fee. Comfort wave tech Sebastian explained that since the work ran past 5 PM, he couldn't give me a quote on the spot but would send one the next day. The next day, the manager informed me that they needed to make a profit from the diagnosis because customers often go with other companies, and I see why customers would do this. The $66.00 service fee should have come with a diagnosis. I told the sales manager that the technician should have clearly communicated that there would be both a $66 charge and a $166.00 charge= $232 for the second property, not just making mention of the $66.00 service fee. I felt deceived since I was only informed of the charges at the "end of the service". If I had known up front, I would have declined to switch to Comfort Waves service. They do have one of the lowest service fees in Oklahoma; however, that is because they will force you at the end of the service with a random cost the homeowner knows nothing about. This is the new scam hustle. I should have only been charged $66.00 for the second property, which is fair. If the time had been before 5 pm, I would have been given quotes to decide to go with a possible repair, and wouldn't have known or been charged the ridiculous diagnostic fee of $166.00. For the $25 service on one side, I received six attached quotes for potential future services with emailed pictures, costs, and diagrams in PDFs. To me, this should be considered part of the tune-up service, allowing customers to decide on any additional services. Again, the $66 service fee should have had the same follow-up service. The quote for the circuit board replacement ended up being $692.00, which was $526.00 after deducting the $166.00 fee. I found this to be outrageous, especially when a local HVAC supplier told me the board costs between $175.00 and $220.00. This experience made it clear that Comfort Wave is taking advantage of homeowners, the elderly, and women, especially. My second $25.00 Home Depot tune-up turned into a wasted $232.00. Here to think them having a cancellation to get both my properties in was a blessing. Nope, it was a big red flag mistake. So, if you are going through Home Depot or Lowe's promotions with local HVAC companies, be fully aware that once you change from the promotional cost, they will scam you into crazy HVAC costs regardless of whether you get work done or not.
