Other half brewing is always oke of our favorites. We are big hazy beer fans and since they specialize in that, we always get plenty of choices. The new York one was definitly our favorite but this was pretty good too. They gave us plenty of samples and each hazy was pretty unique. They all were decently hazy and most had a bright Fruity taste while others had more of a earthy base. I've always been a fan of Other Half beer. They are known for their hazy IPAs and they do them well! First time visiting the Philly location and I will certainly be back. Although most beers are produced at the Brooklyn flagship location, fresh beer is brought in from there daily. While I always love the food and beer last night was absolute chaos with all the kids and parents who aren't watching them. This is for the folks thinking of hosting an event here. DO IT!! My bestie had his baby shower here. The brewery had one half of the space blocked off for our party. It was a rainy day but being by the windows kept it feeling bright and airy. The beer and cocktail selection was great. Now, I'm a fan of sours (like before anyone even liked sours 10+ years ago) and I was disappointed there weren't really any on the menu. Still, the beer they had hit. Toward the end of the evening I had one where the ingredient was anchovy, sweet lime watermelon soda and lychee. The standout drink tho was the Apeloma - an aperol spritz Paloma hybrid. I had my share of those. Teehee. Back to event hosting. They had food set up along the front windows and down the side. Menu was supreme: general tsos chicken chunks, sliced ribeye, sliders, wings, pretzel bites, shrimp and grits. Now in previous reviews you know I said I don't order S&G above the Mason Dixon. This was an exception. The texture of the grits was INCREDIBLE! Like--- Fat things: In our section it was just tall bar stools. The legs looked spindle-y but the chairs were hella supportive and comfortable. There were also wooden bar stools. Other: Bartenders were friendly and attentive. Parking in Philly continues to be a nightmare. However, I found free street parking a 2 minute walk (an honest 2 minutes not a speedwalker 2 minutes which is really 10 minutes for me) right underneath the nearby underpass. Excellent brewery in Northern Liberties section of Philly. My girlfriend and I came here on a Friday night at 6. It was seat yourself, and we found a table right away. Looking at a menu on my phone is a pain but I do like that you can order and pay right on the phone. It really speeds up the process so that you don't have to wait around for a server throughout the night. And they're super fast too. Our beers arrived literally about two minutes after we ordered. We ordered the Green City IPA and the Mosaic Dream IPA. We are both big fans of IPA's and of breweries in general. We're no experts but consider ourselves fairly knowledgeable. Both of these IPA's were outstanding. We also ordered the carnitas tacos. I never expected to find some of the best tacos I've ever had at a brewery, but here we are. This brewery is still very good. While I think they have lost their quality a bit since their expansion from Brooklyn, this place still offers great IPAs and stouts. I really like how everything is ordering from your seat (I really think this is the new way ordering should be done). I do wish they would have stouts/darker beer on tap. I really enjoy this brewery located in fishtown/northern liberties (depending who you ask) by a hub of activities including the comedy club, bowling, virtual golfing, distillery, and concert venue. A great meeting spot for any and every occasion. To enter you'll have to show your ID to security who have been pleasant each time I've gone. While you must be over 21 children are welcomed with their parents. Once you enter it's pretty much up to you to find the location to sit. I always choose an outdoor bench due to my party size. Then you can scan the QR code for the menu and order your food. So no waiting for the check when you are ready to leave. The beverages and food arrive before you know it by their amazing staff. Now the food...I've enjoyed everything I've tried especially the Brussel sprouts and corn. But others have mentioned how they enjoyed everything they have ordered as well. The beverages are abundant, the beers change to some frequency and I've tried something new each time. I'm all for technology in the service industry to improve service etc, but it's really gone too far at Other Half. For example the QR Code table tents for the menu / beer list, yes it took some getting used to not having a physical menu but it does have its benefits as well. Here, you not only have the QR code menu, but you have to place your own order on your phone, then you have to enter your CC information as well and pay without ever seeing anyone, let alone have any questions answered about menu items. Absolutely no interaction from anyone until the beers were dropped off. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And it was a dreary Sunday afternoon, there were only about 30 customers in the entire bar / restaurant, the outside was closed for seeding of the grass, so it wasn't because they were busy. There actually were about a half dozen various employees just hanging around chatting etc at the service bar end[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I should also mention also that there is an automatic 20% great added to the check. Really?! What do they do for that?!?!? Not a soul stopped by to check on us after the beers were delivered also, of course. As well, when we arrived there was no assistance or direction from the host either with a table or a sorely needed high chair until someone stopped by after 5 minutes and we requested it. Complete lack of interest in Customer Service from beginning to end, except for the Security / Bouncer guy who actually opened the door for us on the way in. Kudos to him. Definitely no kudos to the other guy out by the gate with his nose in his phone when we arrived and when we left. What was supposed to be a couple beers and food, well, we left disgusted after one beer. Way too many establishments in Fishtown / NoLib to have to deal with that. I have been to Other Half twice now and really enjoyed my visit both times. The first was opening weekend so we had to wait in a line to get in. However the line moved pretty well. The inside is bright and has a ton of natural light, it's really nice. The service is good and the beers are amazing. If you like a hazy IPA this is the spot for you! However, if you are not a fan of IPAs you may want to try somewhere else. I, personally, am I huge fan of hazy beers, especially IPAs so I was excited to try their varieties. I would say the beer menu is about 80-90% IPA. I do hope they expand the food menu. So far we have tried the fries, brussels and wings and I thought they were all good! They definitely need more options though especially that are good for sharing. Whenever I am going to a brewery I am usually with a few people that want to share an appetizer, and I really don't love their options. I'm hoping since they are new they will expand it after some time. Overall, excellent brewery, could see this being our new go-to spot! read more

I'm new to "big city" ordering via a QR code at the table... with major food allergies I much prefer to speak to a real person. The host in charge made me feel super comfortable and checked with the kitchen to make sure what I was looking to order was safe... and it was super delicious! It was a quinoa bowl with chicken... the only thing that surprised me was the quinoa was cold. It wasn't on the menu as a salad, which I'd expect that... the chicken was hot, and since it was a "bowl" I expected the entire thing to be hot. However, it was super delicious! The only other "criticism" I'd have is that they hide their super cool merch under the counter. They have a great wall that with some cool industrial shelving could be used to feature more than the 3 hats that almost seemed an afterthought. Coming on a Wednesday night, I was able to find street parking. On a Friday or Saturday night, you will need to park much further away. The layout is set up with a lot of outdoor space but can probably hold 60 or 70 people inside. There is a large selection of beers so you can find something you like but the food menu was not extensive and the soft pretzel was not soft. There are a couple of large tv's to watch sports. I know some reviewers are high on the chain but I have had better experiences at other breweries. read more

Great vibes, unfortunately less than stellar beer. We went on a Friday night and it was packed. Luckily, we snagged seats at the bar but there weren't any tables left at 8pm. It's very close to a concert venue and there was a show that night, which may have affected crowds. Service seemed limited for those seated at tables. Bar service was a tad slow, but they seemed understaffed. While they didn't have flights on the menu, they let you order however many 4 oz pours you want, which I appreciated on a busy night. They don't really have any light beers or anything with a low abv content on the menu. I ordered 3 of their imperial stouts, pistachio ice cream, waffles, and shortbread, and unfortunately, I hate them all. They all tasted exactly the same, which was like a mulled wine. You could only taste the alcohol and none of the flavoring they claimed. They were almost undrinkable. The Belgian triple was also an odd flavor and way too strong. Everyone else seemed to get IPAs, which may be better. The highlight of the night was the spicy chicken fingers. They were above average for bar food, although I disliked the yogurt lime dressing. This eatery offers a cool, laid back vibe that invites all including children and pets, to enjoy the delicious food offerings. I ordered the smoked trout dip with old bay season chips, honey Siracha chicken bits, and the Mexican corn. All were delicious and surprisingly delicious. I was surprised about the large pieces of trout in the dip. Yummy. The restaurant offers a variety of beer and the only thing that I think it could benefit from is a varied selection of hard cider. The Other Half is one the best IPA-centric breweries in the US, possibly the world. No longer is a trek to Brooklyn or a beer trade with friends required to get your hands on the good stuff. The Other Half enjoys all the benefits of the location that Goose Island did: -Large Bar -Plenty of Tables -Outside seating + large outdoor space -Clean Bathroom -Spacious Venue -Close to the Fillmore The Other Half took a good thing and made it better. I could spend the rest of my reviewing raving about their ordering system. Scan the QR code, select your food/beverage and then have the server bring it to you. If everyone in your party enters their own order, no messy splitting of the bill. You can also order beverages at your own pace. Brilliant! The beer speaks for itself. When ordering I toggled between their ordering page and Untappd (sorted by draft/top rated first). I was able to easily pick out their many 4.3+ out of 5-star beers with minimal research done. I had even had a few 4.1's because they looked interesting. Boo hoo to me! Just kidding- if only every brewery crossed the 4.0 threshold that regularly. The only area I'd want to see improvement is food. Before my July 2022 visit, I don't even think they had the menu on their website, and I had to rely on older Yelp pictures. It looks like they've built out the variety a little bit, but there isn't a ton of depth. Hopefully they are still working on it. My table split a few soft pretzel orders with cheese. Unfortunately, the cheese was just whiz. I guess that's a Philly thing, but I'd rather have beer cheese or something a little more eclectic. Other Half is one of those breweries I want to like more than I do. But then I ultimately compare it to the brewery that used to be in the space, and many breweries and beer-centered bars on the Fishtown trail, and it just shows where they have some serious grounds for improvement. Ultimately, the indie beer snob in me is kicking myself for saying that a Budweiser IBev-owned brewery like Goose Island did things better than a rising indie brewery darling like Other Half. But in the grand scheme of things Goose Island was a brewpub that featured a plentiful food menu and a huge but well-rounded beer list, while in comparison Other Half has a still half-assed food menu with a lot of kinks and one of those beer menus that rely FAR TOO HEAVILY on IPAs and not nearly enough on other beer varieties. Then you look outside of Other Half to see what other Fishtown area breweries like Evil Genius, Tired Hands St. Oners, and Human Robot are doing; and what beer bars like Bottle Bar East, Kraftwork, and Johnny Brenda's do in comparison, and that's where you start to see even more of a disconnect! I don't care whether you name your beer after cheese, vegetables, basketball references, or give it an elaborate dreamscape name; if you 10+ IPAs on your beer list they eventually all start to taste exactly the same. The lack of beer variety is their main problem, but they shouldn't have to necessarily go through that IPA overkill since I've also enjoyed their Japanese rice lager, and MMM Fruit sour. I would also like to try more of their stouts if they didn't just cost around $10-12 for a 4 or 6 oz pour or $16 for a big bottle, which brings up their 2nd problem of pricing since their offerings are fairly overpriced compared to the many other breweries and beer bars in Fishtown. The next thing that needs more work is the food menu. While the smash burger that I had was decent even if it was barely smashed, it just doesn't hold a candle to the burger offerings that you'll find at spots like Kraftwork, Lloyd Whiskey Bar, Johnny Brenda's, and others in the area; especially with the $16 price tag. They do also have plenty of fries, wings, sandwiches, and vegetarian options on the menu, but it also still feels a little thrown together. Despite those issues, Other Half is still the best option for grabbing a quick bite before a show at The Fillmore or Punchline, and it still has the impressive outdoor seating area that Goose Island had. Awhile back, we heard a new brewery was taking over the old Goose Island spot and were excited to check it out. It was a fine Friday afternoon, and thought it would be the perfect time to go grab a couple of beers and sit on their lawn with our dog. When we arrived, the place was packed. All the tables inside and outside were occupied, and there was a long line at the entrance. Seeing the long line, we wanted to leave, but also thought it was kind of a hassle to go somewhere else for drinks. A few people including me asked the bouncer if we weren't waiting for a table and just wanted to buy a six-pack to go enjoy on the lawn, did we still have to wait in the same long line, and he said yes. So, we waited. Finally, we made it inside and got a couple of beers. Side note: Most of the beers in here are IPAs and the ABV for these beers are definitely higher than your regular IPAs. Then, we went and found a spot to sit with our dog. Around us, I noticed A LOT of cigarette butts littered along the perimeter of the brewery, which really bothered me. You've had this space for a few months now, can't you just clean it up a bit? The beer itself was okay, personally I don't like IPAs and certainly will not be coming back to sit on this cigarette butt-littered lawn. read more
