Love City Brewing is such a fun Philly brewery! The space is large and has a laid-back, welcoming, inclusive vibe that makes it super easy to hang out for a while, and the beer selection had plenty to choose from. The bartenders were friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed, and it felt like a great neighborhood spot rather than somewhere overly touristy or trendy. A great space, great beer, great service, and a food truck in residence that hits three of my favorite food groups (burgers, chicken sandwiches, pizza) like the drum break from In the Air Tonight. Bumbum, bumbum, bumbum, bumbum-BUM! The stand-up class I'm taking at Next In Line next door has had me stopping by every Tuesday and I feel like a proper regular now - and I'm kinda glad about it. The lime lager slaps. Love City Lager I've had all over town and always enjoy as an any time beer. At some point I just have to run the board. As for food, you can't really go wrong. The burger, chicken sandwich, and pizza are all a 7+ out of 10, the burger being my favorite. It's the right size, right price, and the coated fries they serve up are so so good. And coated fries aren't even my favorite type of fry! The space is beautiful and great for groups too. I feel like it kind of honors the feel of the warehouse neighborhood it sits in. There's lots of preserved details and, aside from the steel stools and chairs you see in every farmhouse style bar, the structure itself makes it feel like the brewery could have been there for 50 years. Nothing else to say, really, except for that when it's 100 degrees outside the inside can get warm. Nothing a few cold beers can't fix. read more

It was far too hot and stuffy inside this establishment and little was done to remediate the issue. The heat indoors was to the point that I was feeling physically ill. I could leave anytime but the staff had no choice but to endure the extreme heat. I brought up the issue with staff but I was brushed off by them saying the HVAC simply couldn't keep up with the heat and did not offer any solutions. read more

If you're looking for a brewery with a lively atmosphere, this is your place. Love City is one of my top 5 favorite breweries. Not only is the beer selection top tier, but having the food truck inside (yes, inside!) the building makes for easy ordering. The employees at the bar were friendly and attentive. The building itself is feels industrial-esque, showcasing exposed brick and high ceilings. Almost like an old warehouse. Stunning! Margherita pizza came out in less than 10 minutes and was piping hot. The bottom was crisped perfectly. Fries were salted just right and also came out hot and fresh. On this particular day, it seemed like the air conditioning was off. It was slightly uncomfortable in there as it was very humid out. I enjoyed visiting Love City for Happy Hour and will definitely be back! read more

The atmosphere here is pretty top notch with worn brick, hanging lights, and colored lighting in their brewing area at night. It was pretty popular but there were plenty of seats so there was no wait. That dude mean it was a bit loud but a lot of breweries and bars are around the time we went. The beer itself was pretty decent with a variety of choices and flight options. We went with their standard flight choice which had a stout, pilsner, loger, and ipa I believe. While most weren't my style, I knew that going into it and they seemed good for what they were. The staff was pretty friendly and acomidating. We didnt feel like we had to wait very long and they checked in on us regularly. Overall for the atmosphere alone I would say to check this one out. read more

What a fun Monday night here for Bingo. In the same neighborhood where Eraserhead was filmed, with a mural or David Lynch adorning the side of the building. Phoebe was a pleasure to work with throughout 1.5 years of planning and throughout our event. She was consistently responsive to all my questions leading up and worked with me to come up with solutions to make sure the day was everything we imagined. Love City is a great place to have close by in the neighborhood. The bartenders are super friendly, especially Will who also hosts Wednesday Quizzo at 7pm which is fun. I love how when there are games or events (which is often and also sometimes in the garden across the street) that there are drink specials for so many $ off brews at the same time. On site, there is a food truck (in the back of Love City) with pizza, burger, fries, and other food options. Some vegetarian and vegan options can be limited, but there is vegan cheese and a great veggie burger made with chickpeas that is filling. Their beer selections have original brews and rotating new ones to try. I've enjoyed the selection of sours and hazy IPAs whenever I can, in a flight or in a pint. I love coming back here whenever I can; love city is a great spot for regulars to be regulars too. read more

Came here for the Eagles NFC championship game and boy did this place not let me down! The place was packed about 2 hours before start time and was a great environment. The food truck was amazing! Had to try the Salchipapas because it's one of the specialties at the food truck Viva Pizzas, and they're a must. At first I was standoffish because mayo and ketchup with chorizo???? Mixed review here... 1. The beer was 5 stars. I tried 3 (hazy ipa, grapefruit radler, and a blueberry sour). I brought a 6 pack home with me! 2. The Viva Pizza food truck had pizza and the wings were just ehhhh. Below a average, 3 stars. They are $14 for 8 tiny wings, all of which were drums. The sauce had a nice kick but they were overall not good. The pizza seemed to be a way bigger hit with my group. 3. The atmosphere was nice; typical brewery. A band started around 8 which was extremely loud and emo/goth music. We couldn't hear over the music and sat outside where there is limited seating. read more

I've visited this brewery on several occasions and now with the inclusion of a regular food truck I figured I should finally write a review. What I like? Not being a huge 'beer' drinker, I love that they always have a cider and sour on tap. I know my IPA drinking friends will enjoy, but its great for me to more than one option as well. They also have a limited cocktail menu worth considering. They also have quite a bit of space, so you can show up with a single friend and post up at the bar or bring a group and grab a few tables. And while I do not drive much, the parking is convenient. Honestly, not much to not like. It can get a bit noisy, but nothing extreme. It is not surrounded by a ton of other businesses I'd find myself visiting. However, none of these things are really within their control. Check them out and I will see you around! read more

Awesome brewery in a great location with Philly-love abounding. They have a drive-up food truck serving up 'za (not sure if this changes?), a great beer list, beautiful space, and a wonderful outdoor garden that's open in the summer months. Great citywide specials on the menu if that's the day you're trying to have, and I look forward to coming back during the warmer times and spending some more time. I tried their apricot beer and would order again. They get very busy on weekends and bar staff keeps up, but it can be a bit of a wait if you're in a group during the winter months. Fantastic brewery and bar in downtown Philly. Came here yesterday with my girlfriend for the first time. It was a late Saturday afternoon and the place was packed, but we were lucky to get seats at the bar. We each ordered flights, and in the time the bartender was making them, about three other bartenders came over to see if we had already been helped. I appreciate the quick and attentive service! We loved the beer. Wonderful variety and flavors. The Velvet Edge and Double Eraserhood in particular were outstanding. Truly knock-you-off-your-seat good, and at 9.9% and 9.3% respectively, they might actually knock you off your seat. Also loved the rectangle shaped bar that lets you see the patrons on the other side. Definitely fun for people watching. Overall it's a nice aesthetic, built into an old warehouse with exposed girders and pipes above. Food truck out back and unisex bathrooms. Great vibe all around! read more

I really like the setup of the space but before getting there I walked past their garden area which can be setup for private events which there was one when I arrived around 5:15pm. Across the street from the garden is the Taproom which had tables and chairs setup for outdoor seating. I was meeting up with coworkers for a farewell happy hour only to learn they don't have happy hour specials. That was disappointing. UPDATE 5/19: the business replied that they have a happy hour special of $2 off all drafts beers and $6 food truck items from 4-6pm. I ordered the Strawberry Green Tea John Daly made with vodka which was delicious and I ordered the Core Beer Flight and usually I don't enjoy all the beer selections but that was a winner in my book. I enjoyed the 5 oz pours of (2) IPAs, a lager, and a stout. I was there for my boss's farewell and she ordered a pizza which I enjoyed. It was a thin crust cheese pizza that was tasty and flavorful. Some others ordered chicken, fries, and sandwiches which looked very delicious. I enjoyed the space inside. It was busy so the atmosphere was lively but not annoyingly so. I have been to places where it's so loud that you have to yell for someone to hear you. I easily found street parking a block over on Noble. I felt comfortable there during full daylight but it would not be my choice at night if I am alone because there's a bridge on this street and it can get dark. I would return. read more

I had the Black berry city wide (12oz can of Love City Lager + 1oz shot of Jacquin S Blackberry Brandy) and the lager was average while the blackberry brandy smelled and tasted like "coughdrop syrup" as a friend described it. 2/5 The 4/5 is for the pizza and fries!!! Regular fries were deliciously fat and crispy and the pizza flavors (pepperoni + honey and blanc) were nicely balanced and tasted delicious despite being greasier than I anticipated. Went to love city because I saw they were having a skate circus show. Parking was a bit of a challenge as I didn't want to risk parking in the adjacent lot. I had the love thyme lemonade (I know I know it's a brewery lol) & it was really good. They do not have a kitchen on premises, but there is a food truck. I had a pizza and it was ok. I ordered half cheese half pepperoni. It came as ordered, but I didn't know it would also come with their hot honey sauce as that was specifically what I was trying to avoid by ordering a custom pizza. If there was a wait staff member, I would have sent it back, but it was too much of a hassle to go outside. I wouldn't make a special trip to love city but if I was in the area I might stop in for a drink. The skate circus show was cool. They just really don't have enough seating in the back room.
