Chain coffee shop. This particular location shares a corner building with a credit union. The parking lot is always full. They have a drive thru which is what I usually go to. Today I decided to go inside and this is what I found the shop to be: Dismal interior decorating. Its dark and dreary inside. Its clean, well staffed. The seating isn uncomfortable. No comfy sofas. Most of the people there were using their computers and there for the long haul so there were zero tables for us to enjoy our coffee so we ended up drinking in our car which wasn't how we planned this excursion. I should state: I do like crimson cup coffee. I wanted to try something other than coffee so I ordered a chai latte. It was overly sweet. Wasn't impressed. Husband ordered medium roast coffee. He wanted dark roast... they were out. All in all, this trip in was not the worst, but far from the best. read more

On an early morning, on a trip to Cleveland, I stopped at Crimson to get a snack and drink to keep me up for the drive. The inside was very nice and cozy. The menu had a general selection of coffee drinks and some bakery treats on display. I got the coffee cake (I think) and an Iced White Mocha Latte. I thought the latte helped me stay awake for the 3.5 hour drive I had ahead of me. The cake was tasty and still moist. I also tried their blueberry or cranberry cupcake and that was tasty as well. The staff members were very polite and helped in giving suggestions on what drinks to get. I didn't notice until I went inside that they also have a drive thru. Either way, coming inside was a better option for me to stretch my legs. If I pass by Columbus again, I'll stop by Crimson to try another drink and bakery treat. read more

My second time around at this Crimson Cup, I decided to stay for a bit and get some work done. They only have a handful of tables, and they do fill up quickly. Luckily, I was able to snag one, but I also arrived around 7am on a weekday. The parking situation is also less than optimal. There are only a couple spots directly in front of Crimson Cup, with some more on the side that are shared with the attached bank. This time, I opted for one of the breakfast sandwiches and went with a sausage, egg and cheese. It was pretty good and well worth the ~$5. I also got a black coffee. The prices are pretty good, the coffee is reliable, and I definitely like this place as a to-go coffee spot (they do have a drive-thru), but the lack of seating has me leaving it with 3 stars this go around. read more

Favorite coffee place in Columbus! They roast their own beans, and you can tell the quality in the ultimate product. Crimson Cup makes an excellent espresso, and the flavor notes still come through strong in an Americano, hot or iced. My wife and I have tried a few different specialty lattes as well, and they have been great overall. Service is always friendly and fairly fast. My only complaint would be that they don't have a ton of seating inside despite having a large space, but we've generally been able to find a spot to sit nonetheless. read more

This has become my new go to coffee place! I always go through the drive thru and almost never have to wait in line, which is one of reasons I started opting to come here instead of Starbucks. The staff is also always so friendly and helpful. They have a seasonal menu that I love! Over the summer I tried a latte with rosemary that was amazinggggg (really hoping they'll bring this back). My current favorite is their gingerbread white mocha. I can't wait to see what they bring out for spring! I've also tried some of their food, their bagels are standard and are a great price. They do have muffins, which seem more like a cupcake consistency to me, but my boyfriend loves them! They also have lots of non dairy milk options for those that don't drink milk! Highly recommend! Very disappointing. If you get an iced latte they don't pull fresh espresso shots. They took the "espresso" from a carafe. I ordered an extra shot in my latte and it still tasted like just milk. I have a feeling that it wasn't even espresso. It was probably iced coffee. If you aren't going to pull a fresh shot for an iced latte then don't sell iced lattes. Sell iced coffee. read more

I got the chai tea, however, I was not aware that there was a self-service bar where you can add your own milk and sugar. It seems a shame that I had to add my own when I got home. This location is pretty popular in the Clintonville area, I often come here when my car gets checked out at Mr. Tire and it's a great space to study and relax! The dine in is open and socially-distanced (will be changing) but the coffee is great for sweet drinks. Sometimes you just have to indulge! The signature "crimson cup mocha freeze" is an occasional treat that is rich but maintains its coffee flavor. My first time coming here and I thought it was a great place to do work. When it gets busy, it does get a bit loud and cramped. There's not many tables, nor big tables for groups. There's free WiFi and plenty of parking! Staff was very friendly and I loved their selection of drinks. I got the large Matcha Latte and absolutely loved it ~$4.25. I didn't like the chairs and tables much, just because they got uncomfortable after a bit. There are couches, but I couldn't do work while sitting in one. This place is good to work alone, but not great for a bigger group. I love the natural lighting and the outside patio seating. There's also a food truck out front! To be fair, they do serve coffee. Unfortunately, it's pretty awful. Even a common latte is bitter with a sour milk aftertaste. I suspect they use cheap commercial milk, and they should rethink their espresso bean. The Cortado is a mixed bag, never tasting the same from order to order. For the everyday coffee drinker, perhaps you can put up with this, but if you absolutely love coffee, this place disappoints. I'd be happy to stop in anytime and teach them how to properly use an espresso machine, and what milk to use. read more

Great coffee shop for studying and for drinks. There is indoor and outdoor seating with tables of various sizes. Generally, I come during the weekday afternoons and have been able to find a table with high success. This last visit, there were no tables so I was just gonna get my drink and go, but someone on the really large table was sitting by herself and she offered to share! I don't drink coffee myself but I've gotten the loose leaf teas, the hot chocolate, and the matcha latte, all of which are really good. They sell beans and some coffee appliances (cold brew systems, drip coffee systems, etc.) as well as pastries and a little bit of merch (beanies and sweaters). The mood is chill and the lighting is nice. There are also small chairs where people come and have conversation. Additionally, there is outdoor seating which is obviously empty in the cold of winter but I have seen people sitting outside during the warmer months. The parking lot is small but I've never really had trouble finding parking. They share a building with a credit union or bank (?) and have a drive-through as well as an app to order ahead on! Literally, they've made it so that you can have your coffee through any means. Oh, also, my significant other who makes his own pour-over coffee every morning seems to like CrimsonCup enough and will buy their beans as well. Crimson cup, hmmm... I guess calling this place scarlet cup would sound kinda weird? They did paint the walls OSU colors so I did appreciate that. It wasn't busy here on a Friday afternoon. Kinda sparse inside with a few patrons sitting and reading. I ordered just your standard iced coffee with almond milk. It was pretty good! Is it wrong of me to compare its strength to panera? It's not weak coffee but it's not that strong either. Interesting fact: they sell this on OSU's campus, so I guess all of Columbus gets to enjoy it! I don't make it to Clintonville often but when I do my first stop is generally coffee related. I've been to the Crimson Cup in Upper Arlington before, but I finally made my first visit to this location recently. Thanks to a business meeting that is! There isn't a lot of parking but when I arrived I was lucky to grab a spot right out front. Once entering I noticed how much space was inside and I was shocked. From the outside this place looks really small and I was worried I wouldn't be able to grab a seat. No need for that anxiety! I was able to walk straight up to counter, order a drink, and find a seat in no time. The staff was friendly, my drink was prepared quickly, and before you know it I was working away on my laptop. I would say that the internet situation here slightly gets on my nerves. Having to connect to the internet using your social media isn't ideal. It took me a few tries before I was able to get a connection. Regardless, it's free and much appreciated. Pro tip - This joint has a drive through!! Yep, you heard it folks! A local coffee joint with a drive through. No need to swing by the closest corporate coffee shop (that whose name we do not speak of) when you can come here! I'll definitely be back to work out of this coffee shop, especially when I have meetings nearby! read more

Swung by as part of the coffee trail tour (sadly, didn't find out about the Caffeine Crawl in time.) Sweetie needed a stamp to get a shirt, and needed her daily coffee fix. I usually don't drink coffee, and used to severely limit caffeine, but since Baby K. got here I have increased my intake and broadened my horizons. She got her usual caramelly hot coffee; I got a Mayan Mocha, which I expected to be spiced chocolate but wasn't spicy, just a good, sweet coffee smoothie, essentially. I got a large because it was only slightly more than a small, and it was huge. Service was good at the drive-through, and again when we forgot to get the stamp and had to go inside afterward. And I don't mean that in the way people like to dismiss Starbucks because they're too cool for it, I love me some Starbucks. I probably earn 10 years of gold status in 6 months at Starbucks. But holy cow, Crimson Cup blew my mind. I decided I wanted to do the Columbus coffee passport thing, and Crimson Cup is the closest option so there I went. There is a drive-thru which will be convenient for later trips, but I did decide to go in this time. The interior is inviting and clean with cozy seating. There was a drink cooler, a small bakery case, and they even sold some Pattycake Bakery items. Service was quick and friendly. Love supporting local businesses especially ones as fantastic as a Crimson Cup, honestly they have my favorite cold brew in the city of Columbus. Of course they have a lot of other great choices like the nitro cold brew! Staff is always friendly and the service is spot on. In addition, I have never had the long wait and disgruntled people I would experience at Starbucks. And of course the coffee tastes way better than Starbucks and slightly cheaper. Several spots in Columbus but the Clintonville location is definitely my favorite one. Love the area and the vibe and that is why I keep coming back, yes their are more Starbucks in Columbus but I think it is important to take the time to drive further to support local businesses. read more

Crimson Cup seems to be going downhill. I never particularly liked their coffee since it's quite average; however, the service has gotten especially terrible. Yesterday it took 30 minutes to receive my order when I ordered at the register. I understand sometimes there's lots of orders to keep up with and even short staffing (didn't seem like the case yesterday though) but this could have been easily avoided. They could have stopped taking online orders or drive through orders to focus on in-store orders for example. Alternatively, the barista could have warned customers about the long wait. No one should have to wait 30 minutes for a simple order. If she would have warned me, I would have thanked her and come back a different day. I'd rather not waste my time. This wasn't the first time I've had issues with the service. The three other times I've been here more recently, there had been service issues. Even when it's not busy some of the employees can't seem to be bothered by customers or make the drinks correctly. I won't be back after yesterday. That was the last straw for me. It's a shame because I thought the service was pretty decent a few years ago when I first stopped by here. Warning to anyone who is in a rush! Just go to Dunkin (on Morse Rd) or Tim Hortons (on High St) for coffee. It's not too much farther down. Just keep driving. Otherwise you may expect a long wait here. read more

Simple review. My husband claimed this once made the best Hazelnut Latte he'd ever had. Well, my Yelp radar went crazy...so I had to check it out. I have to agree, it was pretty amazing.
