Rounding up my stars. I've been here twice now and wasn't impressed either time. Most recently I went to get their seasonal cold brew as a mid-run treat. But their cold brew is sour?? Not great, the salted caramel pumpkin cold foam was good though. They also don't have many bakery options. The service was nice, and I do like how comfortable the interior is. I ordered an espresso macchiato. It's what I order at every coffee shop to see if they are any good. They thought I was ordering a big Starbucks sugar macchiato which is not a good sign right from the start. I had to explain that it was a traditional macchiato. They had to ask how to ring it up. The flavor and presentation were poor. The flavor was so bad. I took one sip and wound up, throwing it out. It's bad enough that the espresso was bitter and awful but add in that the service was terrible. Four people working there all socializing not paying any attention to a customer standing at the register. Not greeting me appropriately. No friendly smile. Too busy socializing with each other. They were not busy at all half the reason people go to coffee shop isn't just to get the cuppa coffee. It's also to have a warm greeting and maybe a little conversation. I felt like I was in their way of socializing. They probably could have two baristas here on a Sunday morning around 11:30 am instead of four and save some money, it's just not busy enough to warrant four and then they don't pay attention to customers. I will not be back to this coffee shop. The inside of the coffee shop I will say was warm and inviting. They have a nice seating area inside and out, but the coffee and the service are so poor I will never come back. read more

Friendly staff and quick service in the drive thru but not the best option for legit coffee/espresso, in my humble opinion. I got a mocha with oat milk and it was quite weak...it tasted like just the milk and when I opened the cup to look inside it was a very light brown color. For almost $6 for a small, I expected more flavor and to at least taste the espresso and/or chocolate. May have just been an off day but I likely will not be back. read more

Very nice and comforting coffee shop that has tons of space! Very surprised on how nice and clean it is inside with the nice decor. They have many different latte flavors to choose from and the staff is very friendly. Even though currently they do not offer ceramic cups they were still able to make latte art in our to go cups upon request. They have a good amount of outlets everywhere with plenty of seating so it's perfect to study or work from. I had a dark chocolate and peanut butter oat milk latte and it tasted great! They offer different options for tea, including jasmine pearl, Assam, chai and pomegranate white tea. It wasn't crowded despite being a Saturday afternoon, and was cool despite the hot day. This could be a nice place to come work or study. The ambiance is nice. There are plants. The barista seemed put out by questions I had to ask because the info wasn't written down available for customers to see. The paper bag they use to steep tea makes the tea taste like... a paper bag. Hope they find a good alternative. The espresso for the iced mocha was not made fresh; they used something pre-brewed, and it was weak. I am new to the area and am always on the lookout for great coffee. I've passed by this shop a number of times and have been planning to check it out and finally decided today was the day. I am so glad I did. It is very cozy, quiet and the service it great. They are definitely taking every precaution and then some to protect against the spread of Covid. I felt very safe sitting at one of the tables that are properly spaced and just hanging out awhile. The coffee is brewed fresh to order. I was very appreciative of the fact that the barista gave me two cups without being asked because she knew it would be hot. Now onto the coffee itself It is fantastic! Definitely a bold dark roast. They have a variety of things to choose from including fresh brewed teas, frozen beverages and pastry items. It's exciting to see another great coffee roaster and coffee shop in the Greater Akron area, especially one that brings excellent coffee and tea to everyone. From those who geek out on coffee to those who like their foo-foo coffee or tea there is something for everyone at Crimson Cup. I personally love the slow brew bar (that's what I call it) and see myself spending a lot of time there. I was super excited to see the Modbar espresso system and a stellar nitro brew bar. Crimson Cup supplies almost everything a person would want if they they are interested in diving deeper into the art and science of coffee. There are a variety of manual coffee brewers for sale and coffees with names that will make you tongue tied when you try to pronounce them out loud. From personal experience, I know that the folks at Crimson Cup can help you know and enjoy your coffee and tea so you can once again, and again, fall in love with your favorite beverage. The interior is spacious, inviting, calming, and beautiful. The small fireplace with comfortable chairs makes the interior feel cozy and warm. I can't be more excited about this Crimson Cup location. Went early Sunday morning for a cold brew coffee and got there and saw they had cocoa nib nitro cold brew and immediately switched to grabbing that. I grabbed my roommate an iced chai latte and it was such an easy process. I was the only person inside and was greeted quickly and had both my drinks made promptly also. There was a small drive thru line but nothing substantial. Lots of pastries and snacks to choose from but I didn't get any on this visit. First off, if you are into third wave coffee and are particular about your pour overs, do not buy their silver bags. Only buy their blue bags. I absolutely loved my first visit and will be back. You all know what a true light roast is: zero bitterness. The atmosphere, music, and baristas are awesome! V60 pour overs, their own cold brew apparatus, Nuova Simonelli espresso machine on par with La Marzocco Linea, fireplace, leather couches, low top tables, high top tables, outlets, bar seats, coffee accessories, etc. This is the best coffee in Akron I've had thus far. I keep giving this place chance after chance but they consistently keep giving me drinks that are just gross. I get drinks that are very strong and would have more espresso than maybe most people would get. But I do that everywhere else too and I absolutely love it. However, every single time here, their espresso just tastes like dirty water. This most recent time I ordered a cortado straight off their menu and had them add a little bit of chocolate in it. No weird customizations or anything. And it was absolutely disgusting; I couldn't even drink it. I was looking forward to this place for like a year when I heard they were opening as there was so much good things being said about them. Maybe Columbus just has a much lower bar to compare things to. I am giving it a second star only because their "on tap" nitro cold brew coffee options are kind of neat and are the only redeeming factor I have found at this place. I know there aren't a lot of other options around this particular area. But if you don't absolutely have to go here, I recommend driving another 10 minutes and going to Artisan or Nervous Dog. This coffee shop is a much needed workspace in Tallmadge Circle with a great atmosphere. Plenty of space and seating so you never feel cramped. I would even recommend it for larger study groups or meetings. You would just have to rearrange a bit but I'd talk to the manager first. I've been here twice and I was happy with the service. Not overly cheerful or bubbly, just a pleasant transaction that didn't demand I engage in a drawn out conversation instead of working. The wifi is free and works beautifully, at least it did when the place was rather empty. Their prices are a little higher than what I am used to but they have so many specialty items on the menu, I can hardly complain. They also have a drive through so that is super convenient. But if you are stopping in, there is plenty of parking in their parking lot. In essence, this wouldn't be a place for my daily pick me up but it is perfect to go and have a delicious drink while you get so work done.
