For the conference, we stayed at a historic hotel that was beautiful, but it had terrible coffee. Enter Cherry Blend. Every single one of them thanked me for bringing this coffee, because all of us brewed that in our rooms, instead of what the hotel provided. I am going to use their coffee in my small business and we came up with some cool ideas about how to do so. Undoubtedly this is one of the most knowledgeable couples you will ever meet when it comes to coffee. We had such an interesting dialogue about the sourcing, roasting, and marketing of coffee. The hollandaise on their breakfast sandwich is now a broken, greasy mess. The "sourdough" is generic white bread. What's even worse than the food is the staff. In the last two years, the staff has degenerated to an incompetent , bedraggled mess. The staff has never had to wear a uniform, but perhaps it's time for them to institute one. In my last several visits, I've seen grossly oversized clothes that have the staff looking like they just rolled out of bed. Hair is unkempt, not brushed, loose, and hanging down past their shoulders. A recipe for getting hair in my food. Furthermore, the staff is no longer smiling or friendly and can't answer basic questions about the menu. They seem confused about where they are and the service they provide. On top of all this, they maintain their strict breakfast timeframe. Why they have decided to stick to antiquated time limits for the food that is always available in their kitchen is beyond me. The barest minimum of market research would show how popular breakfast sandwiches are all day. What once was a vibrant, friendly coffee shop with great food, good coffee, and pleasant employees now feels like a dressed up McDonalds.
