We visited Cristo Rey this morning and had an amazing experience. I ordered the chilaquiles with the carne asada special and it was incredible. The meat was tender, the chilaquiles were perfectly crunchy, and the sauce was full of flavor. My husband had the pork chop breakfast and he thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Everything was perfect and Victor, our waiter, was so friendly and helpful. He took the time to tell us about their daily offerings, which we really appreciated. We cannot wait to come back. In fact, we will be back tomorrow for their carnitas and chicharrones! I'm adding some recent photos of the menu as well. The $45 bbq platter is well worth it! Pretty much an unbeatable deal. 12 wings of your choice, smoked not fried. 1 lb of brisket, 1 lb of sausage and a half rack of ribs. To my surprise, came with potato salad, rice and charro beans. This can easily feed a family of 4 and still have leftovers. My new go to when I want bbq. Thumbs up!! read more

Not impressed with their pupusas, very little meat inside and a lot of dough (masa). Very disappointing. For the price, it should of had more meat, not just one once of meat all in the middle. Might as well make them quarter size. read more

Amazing food, it did take a bit to get to the table but it was 100% worth the wait. The restaurant is small, but it gives a feeling of being in someone's home. We're looking forward to going again and trying new meals. Workers are super friendly and humble, I would go back just to speak with who I believe was the head of the kitchen super friendly man. (They speak Spanish and English). For now we recommend their plate of steak tacos, gorditas, brisket sandwich, and their baby back ribs. Cristo Rey is a very cute restaurant and bakery with a very homey feel- literally, it looks like a home! the converted house has a full kitchen in the back, with both indoor and outdoor seating areas. they smoke and roast outdoors, and they do the same with corn (elote) too! i've been twice so far and my favorites have been the caldo de res and birria tacos. i ordered the whole chicken today, it came with rice, beans, and tortillas for $15.99 and could easily feed two. the sides were all delicious but i found the chicken bland (although it was very warm and fresh). they've got beautiful display cases of mexican breads like conchas, buñuelos and galletas, and i drool at the sight every time i'm there! they also have home made aguas frescas that ill be trying next time! they serve breakfast lunch and dinner. always friendly whether ordering by phone or in person! read more

I think it's safe to say that this is the best place to eat in Dickinson. With the only downside being that the location is a bit on the smaller side, it makes up for it in powerful and delicious flavors. It has a lot of natural light coming into the location so I love the indoor vibes even more. Service from the employees is top notch. You can tell that these employees take pride in making delicious food for their customers. 5 out of 5 stars from me, I would definitely recommend! read more

Awesome new spot in Dickinson! My hubby and I both got the street tacos meal with rice and charro beans. Everything was super fresh and so delish. Good portion sizes and from what my husband said, the owner was super friendly. He gave us a Honduran dish to try, can't quite remember the name, but it was a homemade tortilla filled with egg, fajita beef, avocado and some sort of crema.....sooo good! The charro beans were some of the best Ive had in the area, and the flour tortilla was homemade and amazing. This will definitely turn into a regular spot for us. So I've tried this restaurant multiple times. And it's either amazing or complete utter trash. First time I came here it was for taco Tuesday, where they have their special $1.25 per mini taco. The second time I came here I got the pupusa's and they were awesome. I got a couple pastries as well. My most recent visit however it was not so pleasant. A friend of mine had just moved to the area and I wanted to show her a local place to get Hispanic pastries as well as food. I got the street taco plate, with Pastor. The meat was so dry and under seasoned. Barely any onions or cilantro and only one little tiny cup of salsa. I'm not even sure if the meat was Pastor, it looked and tasted like on season ground beef. I also ordered one extra pupusa on the side it was delicious. But I was given a tiny amount of cabbage and sauce... my friend got the Birria taco plate and wasn't impressed. It was just unfortunate that I suggested the place for dinner and it was sorta a let down. read more

Horrible service and horrible food! We went there for lunch, arrived around 11:40, took forever to even place our order. We had to keep asking if it was ready, some of our party finally had to leave. Still didn't have any food by 12:25. Two of the 6 orders came out, another came out wrong, one was never even made until asked. So some got to eat others not, so nice to go back to work starving! They said staff didn't show up, and I would have understood more if we weren't the o Lu ones in there!!!!! There was a party of two and they had already ordered. I used to like eating at this place up until a few days ago. It's was 92 degrees outside, and it felt exactly the same inside. I asked the young lady if they could at least turn a fan on or turn the ac down, nothing! I was starving. I order enchiladas with chicken, rice and beans. The tortillas were not soft at all. The restaraunt has no public restrooms, the salsa is not salsa it is a weird spiced enchilada sauce. They did not provide us utensils and the place charges $1 for cup of water. The food all had weird spices and overall left us feeling ill as we left. I would not recommend this one at all. Also if you have a glutton allergy there are no options. read more

I was so excited to try some local Salvadoran food as it's hard to come by on this side of town. I ordered pupusas and yuca with chicharrón. A little bit of the curtido came with the yuca and it was dry and flavorless. I can get better pre-made flavorful curtido at HEB - that's sad. The yuca was not crispy -will probably spray with a little oil and set in the air fryer. The chicharrón was mainly pieces of fat - not much meat. And the pupusas were dry and didn't have enough filling. Having seen previous mixed reviews, I was hoping it would be a good experience anyway and could become a staple but I was definitely let down.
