Food is absolutely amazing! That's the 1st place to talk. 100% of the food is homemade, and nothing from a can! We had a group of 75+ people dining tonight. The staff was scared when we all walked in, but not a SINGLE issue and early orders were delivered before the last orders were even taken! And on top of that, the food is VERY AFFORDABLE! I have spent double what I spent here on less than half the portion ls provided. Wow! This place is amazing. It has a nice Tex-Mex atmosphere with a coffee bar and many options! Service is great, staff was attentive. I had the combination plate which features barbacoa, carne guisada, eggs, potatoes and beans! I accompanied this with a bold roasted hazelnut cappuccino. My wife had the Huevos Rancheros with a caramel macchiato. Prices are reasonable and the place was not too packed. I would say to use the coffee bar menu to determine the flavor you're looking for. They have both light and bold coffee options. All was amazing, would come back definitely! read more

If you haven't come to Doña Chela Mexican Restaurant Bar & Grill lately, you're missing out. A co-worker of mine was having a birthday celebration and she said this is a place she loves. I was a little surprised because the last time I was there, it seemed like the average Tex-Mex restaurant, but I like Tex-Mex and it was HER celebration, so I wasn't going to complain. However, I didn't realize there was a new owner since I late ate there. That made all the difference. We were looking at the restaurant before going and she was telling us all about the different things they have. She mentioned the authentic Mexican Enchiladas, Molé, Chile Rellanó, and more. Then she said that they also have Tex-Mex enchiladas which are her husbands favorite. I went with the authentic enchiladas (Enchiladas Doña Chela). They were DELICIOUS, and the rice and beans were better than anything I've ever had at a Tex-Mex restaurant. A few other people around me ordered street tacos, Molé, Chile Rellanó, and the Tex-Mex enchiladas. They also had a wide variety of adult beverages. It was hard to decide between the mango, peach, and strawberry margaritas, but I asked the waitress for help deciding... so I had a delicious frozen strawberry margarita which was rich and smooth. Definitely one that I'd order again. Others around me had Micheladas, and a regular margarita. The 4 that had Micheladas all raves about how delicious they were, and my boss said his margarita was also really good. After the meal, the owner brought out a whole Tres Leches cake that she had made just for this celebration, and it was SO GOOD! It's a dessert item that they have on the menu and you should order it. When I go back, I want to try the flan, so it looks like I'll be taking my husband to eat here soon! Oh yeah, they also have breakfast. So I'm looking forward to that meal as well!! read more

Waited 35 minutes in an empty restaurant to receive cold food. The owner is delusional and denied anything being wrong and insisted the menu said fajita eventhough we showed her it didn't. Once we proved her wrong she accused of being drunk since they had served us a margarita. Sad to think Vaqueros and Border Grill has become this absolute trash. NEVER GO HERE EVER. PURE TRASH. When we first got seated I tried the chips and salsa and knew that I was going to be having mediocre Mexican food. We ordered the fajita plate for 2 and 3 barbacoa tacos. The food came out hot but it was definitely mediocre and average. I did not touch the rice that came out because it looked old and was cold. The charro beans were alright but they tasted like they were from a can. Barbacoa tacos were boring and didn't have much flavor. I was pretty disappointed. Service was alright. Went for a delicious Mexican breakfast and was very happy with the food and service. The Migas came refried beans and potatoes - extra chips, and fresh made flour tortillas. Great food and the servers are friendly, but this place is WAY overpriced and the service is miserably slow. I visited this business on a day when they only had one table other than my family's. It took the food at least 30-40 minutes to come out. My wife, son, and I ate during this visit and our bill was over $50.00. A bit pricey, in my opinion. Had the Caldo de Res with corn tortillas that were homemade. The meat was perfectly tender and a generous amount, the vegetables were also tender and cut to a bite size which I liked. Truly enjoyed the soup. The rice though is what I was most impressed by. I never like eating Mexican Rice at restaurant's because they always seem to taste flavorless but, not this rice, it was like eating homemade rice. This place was mentioned to me by my daughter who in her opinion, every meal she has had at Doña Chela's always has that homemade flavor. Now that I've had my own experience I couldn't agree more and I'll have to thank my daughter for just even mentioning this place to me. I'm giving 5 stars! read more

I wasn't surprised to find that we were the only ones inside the restaurant...it was a little early. But I was surprised, and not in a good way at the funky smell inside....and the bad quality of the food. First came the salsa and chips. They served the green as well as the red. The green had a decidedly "refrigerator" taste. Not fresh. We ordered the flautas dinner and a fajita enchilada dinner. The flautas had grease dripping out of them...and the chicken had a weird taste and texture. The fajita enchiladas tasted horrible....they had cubes of chopped up beef, that didn't even resemble tasting like fajitas. And on both plates, the rice tasted fishy....like it had been made with old fish stock. None of this was edible. I do have to say the refried beans and charro beans were good...and the ice tea and beer. But the food, I wouldn't even take it home to my dog...and we didn't eat it. I asked the waiter if they cooked their own fajitas.....everyday...because they didn't taste like it. He went to the back and came back...and said that he didn't know that they weren't cooked that day...that there were supposed to be. Then he took the fajita enchilada dinner off our ticket......in my opinion...the manager should have taken them both off...and then invited us back for a properly paid meal......instead, I wouldn't go back, for fear of food poisoning. I think their prices are high and you can get better and fresher food from a Taco Cabana then here. I get trying to cut corners...but don't serve "who knows how old" left over food. read more

I'm glad I didn't listen to the reviews on this one. Service was fast and friendly. Also, the food was great! The queso was done well and served with fried flour tortilla chips. Salsa was tasty. I love coming here for the food and the excellent customer service! The rice is full of flavor compared to other Mexican rice that usually tastes bland. I order the chicken quesadilla every time and it is always delicious! The flour tortillas are home made. I myself have to love the flour tortillas at a restaurant to be a returning customer, and here they are perfect. The lemonade tastes fresh squeezed and better than chickfilas. Great experience! Food was as close to homemade as it can be. I had the opportunity to meet the owner and she said first time customers get free dessert. I asked about anything that was made from scratch, end my wife ordered the tres leches which was exquisite and I ordered a very well prepared sopapilla. I liked the fact that they served breakfast all day and ordered a dish called combination plate, ranchero eggs with refried beans, barbacoa, carne guisada and fresh fries on the grill. My wife ordered the fajita delight. The meat was superb, marinated in some kind juice emphasizing the Flavor. All this with fresh flower tortillas right out of the grill.
