Menudo was on point, especially knowing they add pigs feet. Chicharron taco was a little soggy and my taco salad was missing rice but overall pretty good and my wife said the torta was ok but I'll be back just for the menudo and to give other plates they have a try. Service was also great.

My friends and I came in on a Sunday afternoon and we were immediately greeted with a smile. The interior is typical of any usual Mexican restaurant. We were served by a great waitress. She continually made sure we got chips and our drinks were full. Definitely made us feel welcome. I ordered two barbacoa and one al pastor taco - all on flour tortillas with cilantro and onion. All the tacos came with a good amount of meat. The pastor had nice size chunks and went well with the salsa. Then came the barbacoa. I love barbacoa. These tacos were excellent takes on the traditional favorites. Nice, plentiful, and flavorful. Additionally, my friend ordered the large cheese quesadillas. According to him the tortillas were great and it was above average. Overall, the place is welcoming with great service. The food we got was great and I'm definitely going to try to come back in the future.

The waitress was also really nice, friendly, and caring. We had a decent amount of people and we were able to be seated really fast. In term of food, I ordered the barbacoa and fajita tacos. It was super delicious, and that is saying a lot because I am not the biggest fan of Mexican food. The meat were tender and full of flavor. The portion was pretty big too which is amazing because I don't have to spend more money buying tacos to get full. Overall, I enjoyed my time at Silvia's Mexican Grill and you'll definitely be seeing us back soon.

Food was great! We brought our family who was visiting from out of town here for lunch and it was so good. The chimichangas were huge and my brother and sister in law said they were good. My husband and I got pastor tacos and carne asada tacos and they were great too the homemade tortillas were good and the meat was even better. We didn't realize that we had come in right before closing but the staff was great and still able to get us fed and out the door before closing without making it feel like a big rush. We will be coming back again soon. read more

I'm so happy that I found this jewel in Texas City. The food is fresh, I believe home made. The tortillas are super delicious, always hot and soft. Perfect to eat alone or load items from your plate. Hubby wanted something for lunch. He wanted a margarita and didn't want the expensive Mex restaurant and didn't want to go to the one we always go to. Wanted to experience something different. Always pass this little spot. Decided to come here. Margaritas was surprisingly good. Didn't have that kick! But again surprised. Don't have a full bar. The food was good. Can't complain. Huge menu of the usual taqueria fare. Waitress put the wrong number in on my order so I ended up with the wrong entree. I showed her the mistake and she acknowledged. Then she asks if that is ok? In other words, just eat it. Ha! The cream sauce on the chicken was like a bland thick gravy. The chips were thick and rock hard. My lunch was $18 and I hardly ate any of it. This was horrible Mexican food. The queso was chalky tasting. The tamales had way too much masa and only a small amount of filling. The gravy on the enchiladas was bland. The coffee was great, but that was the only saving grace. Paid $21.00 for two bites of tamale and a few bites of enchiladas. I would not go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone read more

My family have been to Silvia's about 3 times since we first heard of the restaurant. Each time we were not disappointed in the food, service or prices. The server had to notice because she moved the table around before seating me. Really, all these empty tables and you sit me at the wobbly one. I ordered a hot tea and ice water. The water for the tea tasted like it came from the coffee pot. Restaurants need to learn not to use the same pot for hot water that is used for coffee. I get bad indigestion if I drink any amount of coffee. So much so I now state I am allergic to coffee. So restaurants, please stop mixing the pots without doing a deep cleaning. I also ordered "The Southerner". It has 2 sausage patties, 2 eggs over medium served on a split biscuit, covered with sausage gravy and a side of grits. I requested the gravy to be on the side. The eggs were cooked great, sausage patties also great. The biscuit they were on had an odd taste. Didn't taste like the biscuits were baked, maybe fried? That would probably explain the biscuit being tough. The sausage gravy was not good. The gravy was thin/runny with cut up pieces of the sausage patties, but it lacked the sausage flavor. The grits were also very soupy. I had pushed my full cup of hot tea to the edge of the table, the server either didn't notice or just didn't care. I was only asked once if I was needing anything else, and since she didn't ask about my full cup of tea, I wasn't going to say anything. When she came over to the table she asked if I needed anything, I stated No, I am done. She asked if I wanted my check, and I paid my tab. They do advertise Bloody Mary's and other breakfast cocktails but I didn't have any of those. The location is good, area outside for the kids to run and play. Seating outside also to watch the kids. I think I would only return to this place if I am invited out to brunch with my group of friends. Otherwise, would be a long while before I return, being hopeful things have improved.

The toast was perfectly toasted and the ingredients on the grilled cheese made for a perfect brunch sandwich. Fries were super crispy and yummy too. This is a great spot for anyone who enjoys a good local spot with fresh menu options for sweet or savory preferences. Great atmosphere and nicely decorated. Highly recommend. Only reason for 4 stars is the wait staff was a bit all over the place but I'm sure it was just them trying to remain on top of providing a quick brunch service.

They were served but open, lengthwise and flattened out, then loaded with toppings. They came on a 13" of so oval platter and I'd say the spuds were about 9 to 10 inches long. HUGE! And they were cooked to velvety smooth creaminess. We just loved them. Our friends enjoyed their Chicken Fried Steak and side. The sides were quite large. At least 8 ounces each. My wife and I also enjoyed our Breakfast Tacos. We were so full, we didn't eat the hasbrown potatoes, but we brought them to the hotel and may reheat them in the morning. If you've never been to Kelley's just south of Houston, check them out. They have 7 locations. The food is decent and the portions are generally large and the value is great. The casserole was fluffy goodness though a tad smaller than I expected. But nonetheless, the meal was top tier. I could go for it again in a future visit. Alli herself was really friendly. The water for the tea tasted like it came from the coffee pot. Restaurants need to learn not to use the same pot for hot water that is used for coffee. I get bad indigestion if I drink any amount of coffee. So much so I now state I am allergic to coffee. So restaurants, please stop mixing the pots without doing a deep cleaning. I also ordered "The Southerner". It has 2 sausage patties, 2 eggs over medium served on a split biscuit, covered with sausage gravy and a side of grits. I requested the gravy to be on the side. The eggs were cooked great, sausage patties also great. The biscuit they were on had an odd taste. Didn't taste like the biscuits were baked, maybe fried? That would probably explain the biscuit being tough. The sausage gravy was not good. The gravy was thin/runny with cut up pieces of the sausage patties, but it lacked the sausage flavor. The grits were also very soupy. I had pushed my full cup of hot tea to the edge of the table, the server either didn't notice or just didn't care. I was only asked once if I was needing anything else, and since she didn't ask about my full cup of tea, I wasn't going to say anything. When she came over to the table she asked if I needed anything, I stated No, I am done. She asked if I wanted my check, and I paid my tab. They do advertise Bloody Mary's and other breakfast cocktails but I didn't have any of those. The location is good, area outside for the kids to run and play. Seating outside also to watch the kids. I think I would only return to this place if I am invited out to brunch with my group of friends. Otherwise, would be a long while before I return, being hopeful things have improved.

We asked for a slightly larger table for our group of four, and the staff was happy to accommodate us. We were seated quickly, and chips, salsa, and drinks arrived not long after. The chips were fresh, crisp, and still hot. The salsa was served warm and had good flavor. Cold beer, warm salsa, and hot chips made for a promising start. Our server was attentive throughout the visit and took good care of the table. We started with the Chicken Chicharrón appetizer because it sounded interesting and different. The flavor was good, but the dish itself was a bit messy and not especially appetizing in appearance. It seemed to be dark-meat chicken, possibly fried in crushed pork skins, served over hot sauce with pico on top. The problem was that the presentation created a timing issue. Once the chicken hit the sauce, the breading started to soften quickly, so it needed to be eaten fast. We did not win that race. I thought it was tasty, even if it was not the most eye-catching dish. The rest of the table was much less impressed, and there was some open discussion about whether we should have ordered queso instead. Since the appetizer took a little longer than expected and our entrees had already been ordered, we decided to skip adding anything else. The entrees came out in a timely manner, maybe even a little quicker than expected. The restaurant presents itself as more boutique and made-to-order than a standard Tex-Mex spot, so I was hoping for something a little more distinct. Unfortunately, nothing about our order really felt cooked to order. I ordered the Angus beef fajitas. They came out on the standard cast-iron skillet with plenty of onions, a few peppers, and a grilled jalapeño. The presentation was about what you would expect, but the vegetables were odd. The onions looked like they had been cut by someone unfamiliar with either knives or onions. The pieces were irregular, large, and almost petal-like, as if someone had started making an onion blossom and changed their mind. Meanwhile, the peppers were sliced very small and were barely noticeable on the plate. I understand food costs, and peppers are more expensive than onions, but the balance felt off. As for the beef, I ordered the Angus option, but I honestly could not tell that it was any different from the other beef dishes at the table. Either everyone got Angus at no extra charge, or I do not know anything about beef. It was heavily marinated and overcooked. I was not asked how I wanted it cooked, so I assume the meat was prepped ahead and reheated before serving rather than cooked fresh to order. The rest of the table had a similar experience. The food was not bad. In fact, it was good enough. But it did not stand out from the many other Mexican restaurants within a short drive. The prices seemed a little on the higher side, though not unreasonable. Overall, Luna Rosa offered a pleasant dining experience with cheerful, helpful staff and good service. The chips and salsa were a strong start, and the meal was perfectly acceptable. The food, however, landed closer to average than memorable. For the price and presentation, I was hoping for something that felt a little more special.
