We came here for a Chef demonstration and had an absolute blast. It was a neat experience and really enjoyed the food that was prepared. The event itself was a little disorganized as we were never really "checked" in but it was still very pleasant. The demonstration was prepared by world-renowned Chef Fabiola Guillen de Zamora. She was very friendly and easily explained all the ingredients and steps to prepare her dishes. The food was amazing and we were glad to be informed that the dishes were being added to the restaurant's menu. We will be back to enjoy their authentic Guatemalan cuisine. read more

While in Houston, we wanted to try this restaurant since my hubby is from Guatemala and he was craving some authentic food. When we visited the location was empty and we got acknowledged quick. The menu has a variety of items, mostly are Mexican food, a small section for Guatemalan food. We ordered Jamaica (hibiscus juice) and it was delicious. They have Jarritos as well. For food we ordered, chicharron and queso pupusas, Chuchitos(its a Guatemalan dish that kind of resembles a small tamal with pepian sauce). I ordered the Garnachas (small fried corn tortillas filled with ground beef, cabbage and topped with tomato salsa and queso fresco) these were delicious and hubby approved! we also ordered the burrito chipotle, it was big enough for two but it was too spicy ( and I love spicy) that it overpowered the dish. This is a BYOB establishment and they offer 20% Military discount. Overall the food was good and it satisfied my husband crave. read more

Our delivery guy dropped off our food earlier than expected so that was already an A+. We ordered the Nachos Delicias Latinas with steak fajita and the Fajitas for 2. The nachos were quite good, not a big fan of diced onion when it comes to Latin food so I just took them out. Overall, very delicious with this plate. The Fajitas for 2 were HUGE!!! This restaurant is very good with portion sizes. They were well seasoned but could use a little less grease. There was some flavor to it, just not a whole lot of it. The only downside was the portions on the sides. Rice and beans were very little. My fiance loves charro beans and was disappointed that there was hardly any. If you're looking for a Latin restaurant with good flavor, I would recommend this. read more

Do not order online!!! I placed an online order, was charged and showed up 25 min later to pick up. As I hopped out and bopped to the door I notice some people waiting in their cars and a young man pulled at the door...They were closed!!! I called the restaurant and they had decided to open late. I didn't understand why they didn't adjust the online order capability or post the change, but I tried to be understanding. I agreed to come back in 35 min and was guaranteed my order would be ready. When I showed exactly 35 min later there were 5 tables filled, 2 to go orders behind the counter, but my order still was not ready!!!!! After 15 min of waiting I was finally given my order. When I asked if they provided chips and salsa with to-go (especially since I was so delayed), I was told no flat out...The lack of communication and follow through left my 2nd visit not very satisfactory. I strive for local and small businesses but customer service was very disappointing. 1 star for being close, 1 star for completing the order, -3 stars for lack of customer service. read more

Perhaps this place doesn't really deserve three stars. But it suffers from the oft-told syndrome of "5 star food and 1 star service." Although the tag I had to give this restaurant was Salvadoran, the specialty here is Guatemalan food like its brother Atitlan across the street. So the pupusas and curtido are serviceable, and at least there are some of them in this area, but the pipian de pollo and jocom de pollo, a pumpkin-seed red sauce with chayote and a lime-green tomatillo sauce with green vegetables respectively, are outstanding and the tortillas thick and rich tasting. The tamarindo water beverage is refreshing. It would be more so, though, if you didn't have to order a drink. Which is the first issue. I was not sure if I wanted a fruit drink, so I asked for water for now. The reply... "we don't have water." ...yeah. I don't know a single restaurant in this city that doesn't offer water as a beverage. There are some that charge for bottled water and I still strongly dislike that when almost everyone else offers it for free. Even Atitlan has water on the table and so there isn't really a reason for this place to not do so if it wants to stand up to Atitlan's direct competition. Unless they were trying to say their water machine was broken, then not having water available is an utterly ridiculous proposition. Perhaps in the future I should ask before ordering and then leave without ordering if I get denied, but my restaurant.com certificate was rejected at the register. The cited reason was that the ownership changed in January or February and the name changed to "Delicias Latinas, Inc." which makes it a different company that has not agreed to honor the certificate. The manager said the listing was restaurant.com's problem and not his and that we should ask restaurant.com to refund the certificate. However, we eventually agreed that it is clearly the manager's responsibility to contact restaurant.com in order to discontinue participation in the program. Especially because the manager said someone else had attempted to use a certificate a few *weeks* ago, yet he still did nothing about it. After we refused an initial offer of 10% off the meal, we eventually were given $5 off our meal for the inconvenience instead of the $10 the certificate was actually worth. Still, my friend who came here with me also for the first time left quite justifiably angry. Fortunately, as a postscript, restaurant.com re-credited my certificate purchase to my account with extra as compensation and will be contacting the restaurant to resolve the issue. In the meantime, if you still have a restaurant.com certificate for Delicias Latinas, go exchange it for something else so this doesn't happen to you, and you can just enjoy the delicious homemade Guatemalan food with major bang for the buck and feel more comfortable about supporting a clearly mom-and-pop business. Because that is the sort of restaurant Houston does best. read more

I've been searching high and low for stuffed jalapeños that are stuffed with chicken and cheese, then battered and fried. Well I finally found them here! I got an order Togo along with a guac salad. The prices are reasonable and the food was really good. I want to go back and try more stuff! My only little complaint is that they didn't give me any chips with my guac. I don't know if they forgot them or it just doesn't come with them. But I had chips at home so no big deal. The place is nice and clean and the staff are very friendly. Would recommend! read more

First time here, 7:15pm on a Friday. Not many customers. Waitress was very sweet but appeared to be new. No fountain sodas, only bottled. Ordered quesadillas and creamy chicken, both were very good. Corn tortillas were excellent! Hubs ordered grilled tilapia that was supposed to come on a bed of grilled spinach with white rice. Food came, no spinach and yellow rice.
