We are back from our holiday…read morehiatus and finally getting to report on a road trip to Cloudcroft, New Mexico, during the past Thanksgiving weekend. Join Jasmine and Jim Tritten as they travel south from Corrales down to San Antonio [New Mexico, not Texas], across to Carrizoza, and lunch at the Four Winds Restaurant, then up the hill to Rebeccas's in The Lodge in Cloudcroft. We ordered pistachio crusted trout and most of their specials: vegetable de jour (Brussels sprouts) appetizer (Escargot), soup of the day (Green Chicken Chile pazole), and steak de jour (ribeye) with potatoes de jour (steak fries). For dessert, we opted for the raspberry sorbet which was light and satisfying. The rooms are decently spacious and the bath towels are huge! Downsides include a complimentary breakfast of cold potatoes, cold toast, cold eggs, and pretty good sausage. The shower is weak and oscillates between freezing cold and scalding hot. The amount of hair on the bathroom floor resembles a barbershop and tells me they don't clean the rooms very well.

Oh my gosh. What a super cool hotel!…read more Sky Lodge vibes abound. Rooms are super clean, bathrooms are big, beds are spacious and incredibly comfy. Loved our stay here and if we're ever in the area, we'll definitely be back. They serve breakfast also but we didn't get up in time as these beds are just so wonderfully comfortable that we all slept in a bit too late on both days. This is probably one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at. Don't miss out!

The motel is a family-owned property, and the hospitality from the owners was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, they were warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. You can immediately tell they take great pride in their motel and care about the experience their guests have. The room and entire property were immaculately clean--honestly cleaner than many larger chain hotels we've stayed in. Everything looked freshly painted, well-maintained, and thoughtfully cared for. The landscaping and exterior were also beautifully kept, which made the whole place feel inviting and safe. What makes the White Sands Motel special is the personal touch you only get from a locally owned, family-run motel. Instead of the impersonal feel of big hotels, you feel like a valued guest here. If you're planning a trip to White Sands National Park, Alamogordo, or southern New Mexico, I highly recommend staying here. I'm not anti children but enjoy the peace and quiet. She hosts various pot luck on the weekend. Have always encountered friendly people. Definitely worth the drive. Will be back often.

It is located on the Circle Cross Ranch and is very well maintained. It has full hookups (electric, water, sewer), limited WiFi available depending on the site you are in. They have very clean restrooms w/showers, there is a variety of games available to borrow and return as well as bicycles for the kids. They do not allow wood campfires but propane grills and fireplaces are allowed. This has become one of our FAVORITE parks to visit, especially in the summer months as the temps are usually 15-20 degrees cooler than in the lowlands like Alamogordo or Las Cruces.

The temp is a little warmer than usually but it's great to eat out on the patio with flowers in pots in bloom and green ski runs Watching a wonderful sunset and amazing hummingbirds chirping and zipping by you. The staff is extremely welcoming and the spots range in size to handle any size rig. I had no problem with the WiFi, but we don't use it much while in a beautiful area, such as where this park is located. I will stay here as many times as I return to the area.

The best part of our stay was the great, friendly service we got from all the owners and staff. Jess, James and Vickey could not have been more friendly, nice and accommodating. We even had the pleasure of meeting Jess' family members Dave and Natha and their beautiful pup, Bug-E. She was the highlight of our visit. We would, absolutely, come back to this park any time we are in this part of New Mexico.

First row includes a picnic table shelter on each site, but 2nd row doesn't. With ZERO trees, I'd think the shelters would be essential in summer. Shower rooms are nice and heated in winter. Very handy laundry room, but no change machine.
