This is a really nice park! They have open space, playground, memorial, rocks to climb, stream, etc. They just recently tore down the little playground and replaced it with a super cool new one that is 3 levels. My girls love it!

I'm a San Diego native and yes it's home but Colorado has my heart. When you arrive at Barr Lake there is an entrance fee but it was minimal. I purchased the park pass. It was worth it. When you drive through the gate the speed is slow because there are multiple parking lots and turn off areas and pedestrians so keep an eye out. I drove to the last lot where the information center is and had no problem finding a parking spot. There were several people and groups already there and setting off on their walk. I joined them. It was a clear October day in 2020 and I was excited to walk and gawk and snap pictures. I walked about for over three hours and met some lovely people. I believe I snapped over 200 shots that day. It's one of my all time favourite places in Colorado.

It's about 30 minutes from Denver and I when I arrived it was so windy so I didn't get to explore much. I will say though, it's a beautiful State Park with tons of parking, picnic tables, benches, and places to grill and chill. A lot of trails in the park too that I can't wait to go back and check out. You can take a boat out there as well. Will update my review when I go back on a less windy day! ** Also huge shout out to Judy at the pay station- she was super friendly and very helpful with the questions I had for her. I enjoyed our conversations and she also gave me a red plastic holder to keep my state parks pass in, which I throughly enjoyed receiving. **

My family and I have often visited this area as it's really close to where we live. We've driven family and friends many times, walked around the lakes, and even had family photos taken! Besides all those wonderful things, there's also a cool visitor center. Lots of information, a Bison figure, bathrooms, and a nice Discovery Room for children! Behind the Visitor Center is the Ferret Exhibit! Don't forget to take a stroll outside past the garden to visit the little friends. You can also go inside!

I went in early March and there were so many birds. The immediate scenery is flat prairie but you can walk around a couple lakes and the mountains in the distance are cool. We did the wildlife drive and got to see some bison fairly close. Would definitely recommend listening the the podcast while you drive along. The visitor's center is well done and the staff were nice and friendly. Overall would highly recommend for anyone wanting a nice peaceful walk in nature or to see the bison!

He just wants your money. No wonder this business is failing because they treat the residence like crap. they have a lousy service recovery policy. Their lifeguard training is incompetent and I can give an example. This kid was drowning and instead of the lifeguard throwing them up a lifeline he drove in the pool to save the kid really this is the worst thing you can do because you might have two drownings. So it was a hot day 102° and according to the health department they're supposed to provide tapwater for drinking free instead they tried to charge me for water. They don't have enough handicap parking and I'm handicap. They asked me for ID and I showed them an extra have my brain bleed. They didn't care. They asked me if I was a resident and I said yes, and then they asked me do I have proof of it and I said yes here's my ID and the proof where I live. I said the water makes me dizzy. I'm just here with my kid. I don't even have a bathing suit. They still charge me to enter. It's ridiculous if I wasn't a resident I would go to someplace like Waterworld so I paid their extortionate prices to enter and watch my kid. I'm gonna report them to the health department. This is a business that we don't need in our city!

When this happens the weight room gets very crowded. 2) what's the deal with the thermostat in the new track area? Why is it so hard to regulate? It is almost always blowing WARM air and it's 90 outside! Staff says "they're working on it." Employees here are very helpful and enforce the rules.
