I'm almost afraid to write this review. I don't want to stand in a line outside waiting to be seated. My friend and I had an early dinner here Friday night. Bar seating was filled with most of the adjacent tables-for-two taken. We were more interested in a booth. Ample comfortable booth seating past the bar. Our waitress was exceptional. She guided us through the ample side dishes (for entrees) and explained the nuances of the Cider on tap. My friend ordered steak tips with mashed potatoes. I ordered turkeys tips with a side salad. We both ordered the (hard) Cider-served in a tall pint glass. We started with a basket of homemade chips. We both enjoyed our entrees (and took some of the steak tips home.) These are healthy-sized portions. The Cider was memorable. Chocolate cake for dessert was delicious (and more than two of us could finish.) Prices here are very reasonable. Ample free parking in front of the restaurant. We were the only people seated in a booth (we arrived at 5 pm) and with a full bar we could not hear any voices coming from the bar. I think we were the only non-regulars; I plan to become one! read more

Those Steak Tips We have been going to Cronin's for many years now and have never been disappointed with their good food, neighborhood atmosphere, cold adult beverages, friendly staff. The steak & chicken tips are worth the ride themselves. We were there recently with out-of-town family who had been there with us on a prior occasion a couple of years ago and, because they had enjoyed that visit so much it was their choice to go there again. The wing dings are a treat that we have over & over. We have never had a bad experience at Cronin's. Cronin's is a great neighborhood spot for dinner and drinks! Friendly atmosphere with plenty of regulars. The bartenders and waitstaff are on point with prompt and welcoming service. This is a quintessential and solid neighborhood dive bar. It was my first time here as I was meeting a friend who lives nearby. We went for dinner and their version of "Family Feud "trivia. Entering Cronin's is a bit like stepping back in time to a simpler era. It felt comfortable. There were lots of regulars at the bar. They have a simple food menu and a good beer selection. Prices are pretty reasonable, although we felt that the steak tips (for which they are apparently known) were pricey {$24.} for what you got and weren't anything special. However, the steak fries that came with it were excellent -- nice and crispy. No veggie came with the tips. We also had the Buffalo wings as an app and they were surprisingly good. A slice of chocolate cake for dessert was respectable. I'd definitely go again on a trivia night when visiting a friend, but would not make a special trip. read more

2nd time here. Walk in on a Sat nite around 730pm. Plenty of tables open. We had a pleasant Irish girl as a waitress. Apps set cheese sticks that were ok Chicken wings were just ok. Seemed a tad dry. I will say the chili and chips were tasty. Entrees were tips ...plentiful and tasty with a nice marinade. The hot pastrami was good but a tad sparse in the pastrami. read more

Made the drive from East Bridgewater, yes that's far for me. Food was awesome. Had the steaktips with cajun dry rub. Wife had a chesseburger. Both cooked perfectly. Steve was on bar. My review is a lot like a few others. I walked in for the first time on a Thursday night. I had heard so much about the Steak tips. Unfortunately I never got to try them and probably won't be going back. The bar was completely packed and there was nobody sitting in the tables in the back. I sat down and waited and waited. Then I walked to the bar to at least get a cold beer. I'm not sure what was going on but I had a hard time just ordering a beer. Nobody ever did come to my table so I could order the Steak tips . Food is pretty good. They claim to be 'famous' for steak tips. Steak tips are okay. Here's the thing:They despise takeout orders. If you call and ask to place a takeout order, you will be put on hold and never picked back up. It happened to me twice. First time, I thought they forgot. The second time, I realized I was being ignored. Most recently, I went in and ordered takeout in person. The looks I got from the bartender could kill. But even worse, I constantly received dirty looks from the regulars as I sat in the chair by the door. I will never order takeout again, it was too uncomfortable. I can't begin to say enough good things about this unassuming looking Irish pub in the middle of a residential neighborhood. They're serving up some STUPIDLY delicious and tender sirloin tips! There's a few different styles on their menu........ BBQ, Teriyaki, Cajun or plain. They have a relatively simple pub menu with sandwiches, pizza, sirloin tips, fish and chips, etc. I've actually been there a few times and tried their burger one time, which was excellent and the sirloin tips the other two times. They've actually won awards for the tips! Anyway, this is a great little hideaway with surprisingly good food. The atmosphere is clean but average and the service is good. The prices are extremely reasonable and the portions are decent. Best steak tips on the south shore. Hands down. Steak fries are best side. The large Greek salad is just what you want: iceberg, tomato, cucumber, olives, feta and creamy dressing. Came in today to try this place out. We started with Cajun chicken soup . Incredible flavor but mother of God. Spicy hot.. not for the faint hearted.. tried the chicken wings, smaller than you might expect however but flavor was outstanding A top 5 wing place for me anyway. Cold beer and great service. Well I came here because people said the steak tips were comparable to New Bridge Cafe in Chelsea. I disagree. Don't get me wrong, the steak tips are good by themselves. The problem is that NB has the salad going for it and the fries going for it. And at NB, the salad really IS part of the meal. The dressing gets all up in the steak tips and whatnot. Sadly, while the steak tips were quite delicious, the salad was kind of a letdown. Which sounds stupid, but if you've been to NB you know what I mean. Back to the positive though, they serve big glasses of Magner's like any good Irish pub should. And like I said, the steak tips were very good if all you want are steak tips. And yes, compared to anywhere else they are DAMN GOOD. I'd MIGHT have given four stars, but they don't accept credit cards. They DO have an ATM machine inside, but c'mon, it's 2010. Cronin's has been an after work tradition for years. Five years to be exact, it's a great little bar with a very old fashioned intimate feeling. For years now I've been meaning to try the food and tonight I can gladly say I did. I chose the sirloin tips which is probably the specialty with a website domain of steaktips.com. They have a touch tunes juke box that probably averages 3 songs a week? If that? It would be a good betting pool to see how many songs are played in a week? I'd say 15? They got about 16 bar stools surrounding the bar. And a dining room with a little seating arrangement behind the bar. And alongside the wall, there are roughly 4 "two toppers" (if I know what I'm saying) alongside the wall. No Karaoke and thank God! They have a "Keno Lottery" screen and they boast of nearly 600,000.00 dollars of winners in 2018 amongst other accumulative games. The food is great here, but the service can be sketchy. The blonde bartender last night completely ignored us so we left. She was continually putting empty beer bottles away while there was a bar full of people. It was bizarre. We waited a long time, and she never even looked in our direction. I guess I can't take it personally since a few other people left because she was ignoring them too. They really need 2 people to serve on busy nights. However, I have been going here for years so I would go back, just not on a Friday night when she's working. The steak tips and turkey tips are delicious though, and I have never had a bad meal here.
