Had a good time here altho it sounds like there may be some iffy crap going on. We had a very nice bartender and a tasty large order of shepherd's pie, and got helpful advice from a customer on another dish. Sadly I'm not a beer drinker and sadly the wine and "cocktail" options are meager (unlike the good luck we had at Yaz's/Dublin House in Dot). This is the most suspicious, worst, most unfriendly, actively hostile dive bar I have ever been to. I came in, sat down at the bar, then left after 25 minutes of waiting for the "bartender" to ask me what I wanted to drink. This is what initially aroused my suspicion. I figured I wasn't dressed like a salty enough townie to earn some acknowledgment...but after thinking on it, I became suspicious that this is merely a front for some organization. My theory: the "abandoned" space next door (with a "Back the Blue" sign in front of black fabric, concealing the insides of the place) is a secret space for some local criminal or police organization *directly* affiliated with this bar. I get called out / screamed at by the staff when try to vocalize that Jay pocketed the cellphone from [who to me] is a random participant. Heard, maybe they know each other. But how do I know that? Love the Irish Pub! It's more of a neighborhood spot, but once you give it a chance and get to know the bartenders, they always always always take really good care of you! Food is typical bar food, but plenty good enough to keep you going. Fish sandwich is really good, as is the curry, I like their wings, and they serve Irish breakfast!! Great dive bar! I've lived in Quincy now for 3 years and this has been my regular spot during the weekdays. I'm a regular here and all the bartenders are very friendly besides 1 middle aged blonde. Idk why but she comes off as a brushoff. I may have forgot to tip her out on keno once or maybe on a lol. I tip well here because the service and the overall place is pretty welcoming. They have a brand new juke box (expensive $1+ a play), keno and decent food (hardly eat here). They have darts, a atm (cash only of course) and I forgot a scratch ticket machine to piss away more of your money. The mens bathroom gets a 2 star because the layout of the frigging toilet makes zero sense making it hard to even take a . Also i have at times no paper towels and toilet paper. It wouldn't be all that hard to check or make sure before you open up at 8am! the mens room is fully stock just a friendly fyi! Smdh. 4 stars without that moody/fake blonde bartender and 5 stars if you kept up with the mens room. read more

I am an avid customer of the Irish Pub. My friends play darts for them and I have many other friends who are connected to the pub and go frequently. I, however, will not be going back, well at least not going back when CeCe (spelling) is bartending. She is an extremely rude person/bartender and needs to be reminded how to treat her customers. In short, I asked her if they sold a certain drink, she said no and proceeded to look at the patron next to me. I said "excuse me I need to order five other drinks" she then took her palm put it in front of my face and said "No". I was shocked and appalled by such rude behavior and attitude. I immediately turned around told my friends the story and left. There was no way I was given her a cent of my money. Last night was completely packed with a lot of drunk people (I was completely sober just coming from a wake), which means she probably thought my business was insignificant. Maybe me walking out last night meant nothing, but it will mean something when there are only a few customers in the bar and she wants more patrons. If I ever walk into this bar and she is bartending I will turn around and walk away and I will also be sure to tell anybody that listens to do the same thing. She needs to remember that she works for her patrons we don't work for her. And NOBODY should be treated or spoken to with a palm in their face.. read more

I will never go back. I like a great dive bar, but because of the bartender I will never return. I walked in with a group of people and with needing a break I opted for water. The rude barter goes "I'm not sure I know how to make that." First of, I tip on everything I order including water; especially know tips are people's bread and butter. went in for a beer a few times. nice staff and crowd. some older guys drinking and one nite a bunch of young people drinking after work. always someone playing darts. saw the special menu, steak dinner for 9.95$ wow cheap, went back on Sunday and tried it. very good, at least 8-10 oz sirloin steak with three onion rings, peas and mash with gravy. very tasty all around. only about three booths and the rest is bar. wouldn't recommend you take your family there but go have the steak dinner. more than worth it. read more

I recently moved to N. Quincy and i stumbled upon the irish pub a month ago. I had a bowl of homemade chili with cheese & some nachos for $6 and it was delicious. Today i wanted seafood and went back. For $10.95 i had a HUGE piece of fresh fried Haddock, french fries and heaping scoop of delicious cole slaw. I also got a 16 ounce Guiness for $5.50. Cant beat the quality of food, amount of food price and good guiness. Its a hole in the wall bar, nothing fancy, but the the food, prices and the friendlest bartenders make you feel at home! It's a little authentic to Ireland and definitely not your average bar menu, although fried cheese is available =) The bar is fully stocked and is wider than my drunk smile. It's a small bar right off of Hancock St. on Billings Rd. (near Murphys Twin Shamrocks) and is a great comfortable bar where you always feel welcome. I like this place but it definitely would be considered a dive bar. They have a really good pastrami sandwich for cheap and the drafts are cheap too. There are usually a bunch of old guys in there drinking their days away. Its always good for a spirited talk about the sox or any other Boston team. The service has always been good as well. Terrible! My wife and I wanted to find a local hole-in-the-wall Irish Pub that has unique and authentic food. We did a simple Google search and found this place with favorable reviews along with a digital menu. First of all, the menu has been reduced to simple foods that have no Irish identity. They removed (sometime last year due to "kitchen renovations") the dessert menu, so, no bread pudding. Also, no rye bread, no cabbage, no corned beef, no Sheppard's pie, and no identity of Irish cuisine at all. Just hamburgers, hotdogs, nachos, and similar general diner options served on Styrofoam plates. To top it off they only accept cash and the atm in their pub "always breaks" according to the waitress and wasn't able to dispense cash. This place isn't what it may have been in the past and certainly not what previous reviews state. They are obviously having financial issues and their lack of quality food and service is going to be their demise. We have warned you. You will be underwhelmed if you are there for food! read more

I love this bar, its like the ones my Irish grandfather took me to in the 1970's....p.s. I was only 7! Its a total dive, but the atmoshere is cozy and the patrons are colorful. Food is way above average. Always get a different price for my usual vodka gimlet....sometimes $4, other times $7, always strong! They surprise you with a "cash only" schpiel. It's 2018, no reason for you to be unable to take a credit card. They do have an ATM in the bar though, so plus 1 for that. The ATM fee says $3, I got charged $5.50. So minus 5 for that. Overall, meh. read more

I'm new to the area, The Irish Pub is about 3-4 minutes walking distance away from my apartment. I came in at about 4 pm on a Tuesday to have a drink. I literally chose the closest bar and brought an open mind. I realize it wasn't the time of day where you would meet a younger crowd around my age so I will give the following review with that in mind. I sat at one of the few open stools as it was busy for this time of day, got a 20 oz, the prices were fair and the service was really quick, within a few minutes of sitting down I had my drink. Most of the people at this time at the bar seemed 45 and above. Within about 10 minutes of sitting there I was having nice conversations with some of the locals. Everyone I talked to was extremely nice and welcoming. They had their own stories and were interested in what I had to say. I decided I wanted to try the food, I was told the kitchen was closed temporarily due to I think a shift change in the kitchen, but within 20 minutes I was able to order. I had a Steak Bomb, which is a philly cheese steak with peppers in it. I also had fried pickles, I thought they were wonderful, they were slices and not spears. Very good choice as it is hard to find good fried pickles. It all tasted great, I thought the price was right and it was a good amount of food. I think this place is great, I met some nice regulars and I will definitely come back. I'd also be curious to also see how it looks around 9 pm. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is 2017 and they are cash only. Most people my age use credit cards now and I rarely have a decent amount of cash on me, I was lucky this time! read more

Stopped in for a pint or 2 ,I've heard a few stories about this place being a bad place to go. It wasn't a bad place at all. It maybe a dive pub/bar but the crowd & staff were friendly. Got to watch a rugby match while other were watching hockey & baseball on other TV's . It was a nice mix of different age crowd,but when I was there the place was about 1/2 full.
