Blackbird Farms Brewery - Inside view

You can find Blackbird Farms Brewery at 4098 Lawrenceville Hwy, Lilburn, GA 30047 about halfway…read morebetween the intersections of Beaver Ruin Rd and Pleasant Hill Rd as they cross Lawrenceville Highway. The brewery can be seen from the street and looks tiny - it's much larger inside. There's plenty of parking available out front. I managed to hit Blackbird Farms during their grand opening and was able to sample 4 beers (at the time no flights so 4 was pretty much my max over a few hours to be able to sample and still drive). I can early on opening day and it was fairly busy but not packed - it picked up as I hung around. The interior is still a bit sparse with tables in the front, a taproom bar containing about 8 taps (one held root beer and a new NEIPA was offered for the opening so 8 beer taps total) and the brewhouse pretty much open for viewing directly behind the taproom. Bathrooms are towards the back and to the right. Directly across from the taproom bar are some classic arcade games including pinball machines and a Seville bowling game. For the opening Blackbird offered the following: * Farmish Pale Ale * GA Airport Beer Lager * Yellow River Wheat * Trophy Husband Stout * Part Time Genius NEIPA * Lemon Kiss Radler * Little Llama Root Beer * Lemon Kiss Shandy - Radler 6% - Lemony sweet with mild acid, very refreshing and a great initial offering. * Hop Clinic NEIPA 7% - Fairly dry NEIPA with tropical and melon notes, registers slightly flat with little nose, otherwise fluffy body with great lacing, low bitterness and very crushable. * Part Time Genius NEIPA 7% - Pretty tasty, tons of citrus with sweet tangerine notes in this excellent NEIPA. * Trophy Husband Stout 11% - Robust roasted malt notes in this almost English style Imperial Stout, good notes of chocolate and coffee in a full body and a full finish. Deceptively good. I believe I've met the Brewer/Owner Matt a casually a few years ago at an event I attended (at least he looks familiar but it's unclear when and where I may have met him - I at least know I've been to some of the same events he attended). I only spoke with him briefly during the event to congratulate him and express my appreciation for the beer. Based on the quality of the beer he seems to know what he's doing so I'll make a point of visiting more often in the future. Overall the experience was fantastic - the service (didn't catch the server behind the bar's name but she was awesome) and the beer were top notch - looking forward to what Matt comes up with in the future!

Trivia on Wednesday night, other events happen and are posted on their Facebook page. Sometimes there's a food truck. They have some vintage arcade games and just added a pool table. Stop in for a cold one!

Fourth Saturday Jazz is a thing! Indoors was comfortable and there was also a small outdoor seating area. Dogs allowed in both. In the back corner, two axe-throwing lanes. I would definitely go back and spend an afternoon there. I was unmolested while I read my book, drank my beer, and enjoyed the music. If they had a kitchen to serve food I might never leave!

This is the same place as Blue Tarp Brewing. Actually they share the venue. Good people, good beer and good music. Alan and Tom, the co-owners of the space, are top-notch laid-back guys. They are also great brewers. Between High Card and Blue Tarp, there is something for everybody. Plenty of inventive styles and flavors, without the try hard vibe you may experience at other places. Bartender was really nice and friendly, and we felt welcomed. I loved the Key Lime IPA and also the White Queen which has one of the best tastes with a slightly spicy kick of habanero. Pricing is almost the same as any other breweries. This place is very casual and relaxed atmosphere, dog friendly, kid friendly, host music shows, art markets, and let girl scouts sell their cookies. There is plenty of free street parking available in front of the brewery. Definitely the place to go for great craft Brews, live music and all sorts of funky, inclusive, fun events. Can't get much more welcoming. I'm looking forward to going back soon.

We sat down looked over the menu and Brook our host made the experience amazing. He was the best. Brook went over the menu. And like always when I visit a restaurant for the first time. I asked what are your suggestions from the menu. I was already eyeballing the Portobello burger and cowboy burger before he suggesed them. So, we chose those 2 along with the onion rings and spicy fried pickles. I didn't get the cooks name but she was great. We had to tell her she made that food RIGHTTTT. OMG, everything was delicious. Both burger was full of flavor and juicy. Now, I don't normally don't go for onion rings that's Misters thing. But when a tried one I kept trying them. The chipotle ranch sauce with it was the best. My spicy fried pickle was fried to perfection. I also got a beer. Brook suggested a few for me to try. I ended up getting the Bravazzi Liomonatta. Which is light and refreshing. Delicious!!! I also didn't get the other gentleman's name who made sure everything was good with our visit. Y'all the whole staff tonight was great. We left with a full happy stomach and the assurance that we WILL return. I think this will be our later night spot.

It was, "How are you, how was your day & what's up?"... This is service!! Great job Truck & Tap! You have a REAL thing here!!! They have a food truck & their own kitchen. Best of both worlds!!! The single burger was literally one of the best burgers EVER!!!! The chili cheese fries- BUSSIN'! Oh and the Fried Pickles will burn for a minute, but gooood! Will be back!

Inside there are a few tables along with a nice lounge type area with a couple couches and TV. There are also a few bar stools at the bar area. You will also see the exposed brewhouse. The beers were all pretty solid. I had heard rave reviews and was excited to try this place. They weren't anything too extraordinary but definitely above average. I really enjoy a special release imperial stout they had of the three I tried this visit which also included an amber coffee ale and saison. The beertender was a nice dude. Chatty and friendly. Living in Western North Carolina, it's a shame we can't get this locally, but we'll be dreaming about it until our next visit. Cultivation Brewery is a must-visit for any beer lover!
