Not good. I have been here before a few years back and had some very good burgers. My wife and I…read moresaw they were running a Sunday meal deal where you could get 3 courses for $20. The options looked good salads and deserts and a decent seeming selection of mains. It was a mistake. I had my eyes on the mac bites so I ordered an extra appetizer and they were the best thing about the meal. They are the only reason for the 2nd star. The salads were salads nothing special or bad. The main dishes were where the bad began. My wife got the chop steak (a favorite of hers at home) with mash and broccoli. I got the Shrimp and Grits. The whole theme of the meal was "overcooked." The chop steak was dry and crumbling the sauce was almost sour. The broccoli was covered in clumpy seasoned butter (not bad tasting just poorly prepared) the mash was under seasoned. The Shrimp and Grits was a disaster from the beginning. The dish was served so hot, that the shrimp, no matter how they were cooked before, were over cooked and rubbery by the time the dish was cooled enough to eat. The sauce on top was scalding hot with chunks of undercooked plbell peppers (how they managed that I am nor sure). The grits were way too wet and were flavored only by the sauce. Desert was no exception to the disappointment. My wifes brownie was meh at best, but the creme brulee was a travesty. The sugar crust was way too thick and unevenly torched. I (a guy who loves hard candy and jaw breakers) could not eat the torched sugar because it was harder than rock and again, way too thick. The creme was nice but after having to excavate it from under the polar ice caps of sugar it was not worth it. Service was also not amazing. After a good start ordering and appetizers, the waiter disappeared for a long time. I needed to ask another waiter for some extra napkins and a spoon (grits were too watery) after over 10 minutes with no sign of our original waiter. This would have been somewhat acceptable if they had been busy, but there were less than 5 occupied tables in the building. Over all not a place I'd go back to any time soon. Maybe in a few years more time we'll try again and stick to the burgers.

The cheesesteak and fries were as expected but delicious. The fish sandwich was good as well (I stole a few bites). Both sandwiches were pretty large with a good amount of fries. Service was amazing! It was supposed to have mayo on it, but there was none. Also, lettuce and tomato would have been a nice addition to the two patties. My friend got wings, five hot and five hot garlic. The wings were a decent size, but he prefers them saucy which they were not. Service was fine. Our server checked on us the appropriate amount of times to see if we needed anything. We were there on a Wednesday and took advantage of their deals which was $1 off draft and $5 off hamburger. Everything was fine, just not amazing...but it is just bar food.

Over several visits, I've noticed that certain security personnel seem to pay an unusual amount of attention to us. At first, I brushed it off. There have been instances where it felt like security was watching us closely and waiting for an opportunity to confront us. I didn't want to assume the worst, but the pattern became difficult to ignore. Last night, things escalated. We were sitting at the bar, ordered food, and took it outside to the patio. Before we went outside, security specifically reminded us to make sure we paid our tab before leaving. We did exactly that and paid our tab before we left the building. As we were walking out, the same security personnel came rushing after us insisting that we needed to pay. We explained that the tab had already been paid, but instead of simply verifying it with the bartender or checking the register, the situation escalated. My friend was physically pushed by security, and what followed became an extremely serious and dangerous confrontation. What bothers me most is that this could have been handled so easily. If there was a question about our tab, simply check the payment. There was absolutely no reason for the situation to become physical. I'm not going to label the experience as racism simply because we felt singled out, nor am I going to make an accusation of homophobia that I can't definitively prove. However, we are two gay Black men, and the repeated scrutiny and aggressive treatment from certain security personnel has made us question whether our presence is genuinely welcome. I want to emphasize that some of the bartenders have always been kind to us, which makes this even more frustrating. My issue is specifically with the way certain security personnel are interacting with customers. Management should seriously review how their security staff are trained to approach and de-escalate situations. Customers should not leave a neighborhood bar feeling watched, targeted, or physically unsafe. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because we genuinely enjoyed coming here before this experience.

Sounds strange but the crispy friend cheese was unique and with bacon jam.....Home run. Would come back just for that. Mr. Egon was good, but didn't compare to Celine. Handcut fries were plentiful but thought were overly seasoned. Dipping sauce was .75 extra. We shared the generous slice of whipped peanut butter pie, drizzled with fudge. Would have preferred whipped cream. My preference. Drinks were not strong. Orders were served with that sweet southern hospitality. Highly recommend reservations for weekend. Every person we talked to was fun, funny and just a joy to hang with. Harlow was great (bartender). She concocted this olive spin on a Hugo Spritz. Wife absolutely loved it. Finally the food. Every thing we ordered was absolutely delicious. Massive truffle fries (called chips but more like logs lol), don't sleep on the Gouda Mac and cheese, farmer fresh sliced squash and my meal, the 12oz steak on a bed of Peruvian mash potato's with shiitake mushrooms rounded out with asparagus. I can not accurately describe how amazing that meal was. You gotta try it for yourself. Andrew, we will be back.

We started with their Bread plate, a nice serving of fresh bread and a good start while waiting for our meal. I ordered a Black & Tan and it was not that, this is a traditional pub pour, with guiness and bass ale, with a distinct break between the two porter on the bottom and the ale is floated across the top. There was no break in my serving and it was not a traditional B&T. After giving the concise menu a look, I opted for the Fish and chips and a side of their Gouda and mac. Fish and Chips, Haddock, whole potato wedges tartar and ketchup with a lemon wedge. The fish was prepared very well, the potatoes like home style and the mac and cheese very good, rich creamy and tasty. The Haddock was a nice large filet, breaded lightly and tender. A good meal. A lot of folks the night of our visit ordered the Fish and it is obvious its one of their signature dishes. A solid choice for a meal in my book. 4 Stars A solid meal in a comfortable location 01286
