For lunch, I ordered the veggie wrap in a tortilla. I did taste the "ancient grains," the mixed greens and the mostly mayo "aioli," but I didn't taste any of the advertised pears, avocados and hazelnuts. The coffee was also so light, it seemed as if they had no idea how to make good coffee. My son ordered their "French Dip," which looked like overcooked and burnt roast beef on a "sub" roll that he dipped into a small bowl of au jus to make it edible. At least his french fries were decent. This to me is more of a bar than a restaurant. Its most obvious strong point was atmosphere. We ate outside on a beautiful sunny seventies day. A stained glass window was behind us with hanging potted flowers on both sides. There were trees and grass. Our two servers were nice and attentive. We were tourists on our way to Mount Hood and our GPS misled us here. read more

Beautiful little place, located at Cooper Spur! We were greeted warmly and sat close to a wood burning fireplace, so far so good! Sadly, that's where the praises end. The food was inedible. Ordered a fried chicken sandwich with a 2.00 upgrade for onion rings. What I received was undercooked onion rings with NO seasoning at ALL (not even salt). On the flip side the fried chicken sandwich was overcooked, hard to eat, and NO seasoning whatsoever! (again, not even salt). My spouse got the French dip with fries. Guess where all the salt from my meal wound up? yep... her Au Jus was super salty!!! The beef was so chewy we wound up spitting it out (embarrassing, but discreetly). We could not eat any of it, so we left, 60.00 poorer and unhappy. Hope it was an off day, because the location was lovely. read more

I think I found the best food in Oregon. The location was right near Mount Hood and we ate outside it was such a great setting for a great meal. The had picnic tables in some areas which were protected from wind and other tables were able to have fire at to keep warm if need be. So cool. This chef has a wild imagination and boy was it good. I started w smoked Gouda puffs. They were billowy puffs of cheesy goodness. I loved the creamy dip too. I got a tomato and ham chowder not what I expected; but so yummy I'm glad I got the bowl. It was smoky ham w perfectly cooked veggies they weren't mushy at all. Just so good. I then had French dip. The meat was a little more cooked then I like but not tough at all. The aus was a salty goodness of a broth perfect to get the homemade bread a bit more flavor. The bread was perfect crunchy to chew ratio. Cheese melted perfect. We ended w the brownie sundae. A gooey warm brownie w chunky bits hot and chocolatey w vanilla bean gelato. I only had water to drink because it's such good water and satisfying. Waitstaff was so nice and on top of his job. He made good suggestions and was so polite. A must stop if you want good food. read more

This was a clean, nicely-decorated, rustic tavern in a quiet mountain setting! We ordered the Old Fashioned & (not on the website menu) a mixed cucumber gin drink. Both drinks were stout! We also ordered the (housemade) Cooper Brownie served warm with (housemade) vanilla gelato. This wasn't the best brownie of our lives, but we loved that it was made from scratch & not sickeningly sweet. read more

We had breakfast at this place, and it was fantastic! Everything from biscuits to a fantastic home made hot sauce for the breakfast burrito. And the service was sooo friendly. If you're in this area, eat here! Their dinners look great as well. They try to do everything farm to table, and the only item on my plate not made here was the ketchup. read more

I am being generous with this review, because, the evening meal was good. We were pleased with it. Priced fairly, good service and good atmosphere for a tavern setting. I will give it a 5. The breakfast, however, lowered the rate down to a 2. The service was bad, the $4 coffee was so weak we could read the newspaper from the other side of the filled clear coffee glass. When we mentioned it, we were told it was just a weaker grind of coffee. My wife said" Maybe if you would have put more grounds in it that would not be so weak." Waitress: She Walked away with no response to my wife's non-confrontational question. The breakfast was so slow (1hr, 20 minutes). I finally had to leave and have my wife call me when it was ready. (The chairs were wooden chairs and were comfortable for a half hour tops) With several failed back surgeries I was unable to sit any longer. When the food finally arrived, my wife's potatoes were almost too greasy to eat. My eggs were over cooked. The waffles were OK, but nothing special. (Apparently the waffles was what held up the breakfast. ) We watched two tables who were seated after us leave after they had eaten before we received our food. The reason: the cook was not satisfied with his waffles, which seemed to have belly-flopped and were not up to his satisfaction. Therefore, we wait until he learns how to cook waffles. When we finally were served, and my wife called me back from our room, we finished our greasy, overpriced (40 bucks), and very late breakfast. Sometimes when we go to breakfast, we ask for a box for leftovers. Not today. We did not want to be suffering acid indigestion from the greasy food any more than we had absorbed so far. We complained about the long delay, (1:20 from ordering until arrival) and the fact that we were now in a position where we had no time left at all for checkout. Therefore we had to hustle to get out of our room on time. There was no apology, comp. or anything to indicate this was not "business as usual". I have always said, "Aww, nobody can screw up a morning breakfast." I finally was proved wrong. As a Fleetwood Mack song says; "Never going back again". PS: My wife talked to the waitress explaining how part of a waitress' job was communication. (Letting the customer know of delays and problems, or what they can do to help) Other than that, The resort was beautiful, the setting was fall colors and we were delighted with our room reservations. I recommend taking some fruit, yogart and some granola. read more

Omg, what a gem in the middle of nowhere!! We just happened upon it because I had heard there was a resort up there and I am so glad we did!! We were getting worried because we didn't see one car on the road, I had my bestie with me so we were imagining all kinds of horror movies that take place in a forest, lol! Then we came upon the most gorgeous log cabin Tavern and the resort. It was so peaceful and serene. There was very nice outdoor seating but we chose inside because it's so cozy and warm feeling, (not hot, they have a/c) We were greeted at the door, very welcoming. Sat where we wanted and were taken care of very quickly. I got the juicy and delicious huge crispy chicken burger with a very fresh and delicious green salad. I asked if they sell their blue cheese because hands down it was the best I have ever had !! I was informed that it is their chefs own secret recipe. Then the super sweet chef came out to thank us and chatted with us for a bit. That was so nice!! I want to say his name was Jerry, he's from South Carolina so if I got his name wrong I hope he forgives me. Kim had the best French dip she's ever had and will be enjoying the rest for dinner. All of the servers were so nice and cheerful. The menu is perfect. I just can't say enough good about it. It is worth the trip. Take a cooler with you if you are making it a day trip. I can't wait to go stay in one of their dog friendly cabins. read more

We can in famished!!!! Willing to eat anything at this point. was contemplating eating my dogs food. Thankfully we got to the cabin and made it to the tavern before closing! To my greatest disappointment.......trust me i have many since i'm only 16 this was the worst yet! we had 9 different plates of food in our party to include black angus french dip, cheeseburger, chicken burger and salads. As starving as my party could NOT choke it down! imagine 4 starving teens not eating and rather starve. The chef was wearing PJ's while he worked and all we kept hearing out of the kitchen was him POUNDING on the meat! no shit! Better off eating road kill! read more
