Beers are good and great variety. We especially liked the YaYa Ee IPA, bridge of the gods larger and the rivers road and rails ipa. The service was great and the speed of the food from order to delivery to our table was really fast. The food was ok nothing overly fantastic, the thunder pork sandwich was very good though. Thunder Island is a great stop. Parking is the biggest challenge you'll have here. The lot is awkward. Inside the place is HUGE! Tons of seating. We got a table by the window with a nice view of the river. Our server took our order fast and it was about 5 minutes until the food hit the table. My burger was tasty, cooked well and was loaded with fresh toppings. The fries were crisp and hot. The drink options were great, I had a nice pomegranate cider. All the food options were good. Come for the view or the food, skip the beer. I've never been more disappointed in a brewery in quite some time. The Bridge of the Gods lager (BogLag) tasted similar to my disastrous attempt at home brewing. The other beers didn't have great flavor and were equally forgettable. We had the fries as we weren't terribly hungry. Very good- hot and delicious Views were stunning. To start with great is really enjoyed the views and has a good selection of beers. The food was a little underwhelming though. The salmon was overcooked on the outside but luckily wasn't dry. Checked out this brewery after a hike in the gorge and was not disappointed! Super friendly staff and nice interior restaurant. We opted to sit outside in their beer garden (seat yourself area). Got a hard Agua Fresca (so refreshing and delicious) and a beer flight. Standouts were the Festbier and the Witibier. Also the "small" side of sweet potato fries was a great value, loved how thin and crispy they were and appreciated all the sauces you could choose to go with them. Everything/one was wonderful, views amazing. Salad was good, added blackened chicken but it was super dry. 1st time trying such dry chicken for an extra $6. Burger was delicious. My dress got ripped/snagged at the end of the table as it rubbed against when I pushed my chair out getting ready to leave so that was a bummer the tables weren't lacquered a bit more under the end / edge of the table. Instead, we were ignored repeatedly. Our first server didn't greet us--she just pointed out the self‑serve water station. When I tried ordering a beer flight, she walked away mid‑order to ring up another table. The flight came out wrong, but I let it slide. After we moved to a better table and notified staff, my husband still didn't get his cider for 30 minutes. When I asked about it, the server just said "Ok" and walked off. I politely asked for a different server, who brought the cider and said she'd return to take our food order. She never came back. No one did. We sat for over an hour while other tables were served around us. It felt like we were being deliberately ignored. This experience ruined what should have been a special birthday lunch. We left without eating, and for only the second time in my life, I left no tip. I won't be returning. read more

The food all looked good, reasonably priced, and they also serve what seems like a rotating soup. Today was a fresh caught Salmon Chowder, however, didnt get to taste it but sounded delish! The Bacon Jam Burger was pretty tasty, however, the star of the show believe it or not were the fries! We went during the week on a Wednesday and it also being in the off-season, we were able to get seated immediately. Loved the buffalo cauliflower! Would 10000% order again. My friend had a Ruben which was great. Only problem was the tofu bowl. The tofu was oddly grilled and hard to chew, the bowl was dry at first because all the dressing was at the bottom. Tried to mix into the bowl but the dressing was also overly acidic for my taste. I was really surprised by how completely average this place was. We sat outside and the vibe with folks & their dogs seemed like a great place to be. However, the food was really average at best. Burger was standard, fries were not that great. The IPA I ordered was passable but nothing special. Finally, service was very slow though the place was not even half full. We eventually had to get up and find someone to check out when our waiter disappeared. The fries were perfect, including the sweet potato fries I stole from my friend. The strawberry cider was cold and hit the spot. As for the eventful part - I wish I knew our waitress's name, in order to give her proper credit. We saw a small child who was only partially dressed running down the side street towards the main road, in the rain. Without a second thought, our waitress ran outside, swooped him up, and brought him inside. She contacted the bar owner, who brought clean clothes and diapers for the child. No frantic parent/s came looking for this child, and by the time we left, a sheriff's deputy had arrived. Turns out our waitress is a superhero, and it's not every day you get a great meal served by a superhero. Head up to Cascade Locks to get yours! read more

First trip to this location, we loved the old spot by the river. This is a very attractive venue, nice windows, great service and food. The beer is well crafted, the brown ale was excellent. The ciders are also quite good, interesting flavors, pomegranate was a nice choice. The apple cider was the real star though, do try it if you're a cider fan. Service was great, good team of staff. The sweet potatoes were also fire, freshly made in house. Their jamaica cider is also very refreshing and better than any cider I've ever had since it's not sweet and brewed to perfection. They are dog friendly but the outdoor patio heater was broken but in the summer it won't be a problem. Bring a blanket or thick jacket if you are sitting outside to enjoy the view since it gets pretty windy. Everyone is also very nice here. read more

This is a brewery in an area without many breweries nearby and close to trails filled with thirsty hikers. What I'm getting at, is that even if they were phoning-it-in and brewing passable beer, it would still be highly rated. This place doesn't NEED to brew amazing beer. But, dear reader, this place DOES brew amazing beer. Their West Coast Pilsner was one of the best beers I've had this year. Crisp, Clean, and Tropical. It's similar to a beer I brew that I call "Tropical Depression Pils". The food is good, but not great. It's typical brewpub fare. But if you've just hiked a ton of miles, it's the perfect treat. read more

We got there En Route to the Cascade Locks. Since we relied on the Colombia Gorge express , this place was located very conveniently (for us) near the CAT bus stop. We got seating inside (as the patio view deck was full), enjoyed the ambiance and the wooden interiors. The beer was so refreshing, and the food was a decent size for sharing . Wow this was amazing! I had the salmon bowl which was amazing and I ate 1/2. The next day my son ate the left overs and asked where I got it because it was so good! Saying a lot the day after. The fries were perfect! The ranch is made in house and was great. I air fried my left over fries and they were still great! Great portions and prices. I love the great food options! Our group for 4 had two burgers, two Chili's. Burgers were ok, definitely not $20 worthy but edible. Chili was terrible. Probably the worst chili I ever had. It was a ton of tomatoes with a few beans and 6 tortilla chips for a bowl. To add insult the injury they also charge for sour cream lol. It was tasteless and I took two bites and even though we had just hiked, stopped eating. I used to like this place before it moved to a more trendy location. But whatever. The thing is, it feels like they are now driven by greed. If you are going to charge a decent amount, make it taste good and also don't nickel and dime n I took the leftover home and only after adding some more beans chicken sour cream and cheese it tastes something edible. There are too many words, not enough attention. First, never expected this place based on on location. Did a hike around Multnomah Falls, seemed nearby. Please do not be fooled! Cascade Locks is a treasure trove for foodies. This is one of the few places that I literally went back to, to try the same dish twice! The dishes in question were the Kimchi Rueben, and the Ale Poached Pear and Beet Salad. The salad was ridiculous. I don't know how they can marry flavors so well, that pears and beets work. And how do you make a Reuben with kimchi? I will admit, the first time through, I was not convinced that this worked, but after the second time, I understood. This has become an "always stop" when we're on the way to Hood River! There is usually a wait, especially during the summer, but we expect that and snag a beer and sit in the garden until it's our turn. We like all of their IPAs, both the seasonal and year round one. Bring back the Capri Sun IPA, please! Also like their food! Their bowls are the highlight, especially the salmon. I cannot recall the bowl they since removed but it had noodles and an egg in with a fantastic spicy sauce, I hope to see that again too. Really cool new building in Cascade Locks, OR. Dining room and bar are upstairs and it's a really cool space. For beer we did the 140 IPA and the Good Grief IPA. Both were excellent in their own way. Wife had the Kimchi Reuben which was spot on and I don't know why I would ever have a Reuben w anything but Kimchi from now on. I had the Kedai Pan Mee. Excellent noodle dish. Perfectly spicy. Overall, exactly the experience we were looking for after 3 hours in a car to get here. Well Done Thunder Island! read more

Real brewery on the ground floor, open, spacious dining area with stellar views on the 2nd floor. Very kid-friendly with kids menu and small play area. Great beer, tasty food but docked them 1 star for not-quite genuine Asian dishes. Five of us for beers and dinner yesterday including my 7 y.o. Grandson. Nice selection of beers, I ordered the saison which arrived promptly and was excellent. Grandson had chicken nuggets and fries which he judged were excellent, the fries are great! The rest of tried an assortment of bowls. I had the ginger tofu which had a delightful crisp coating on the tofu, but I missed a stronger ginger flavor. The salmon bowl is arguably the best of the bowls with a generous piece of fish. The somen pork noodle bowls was good, but disappointed that it came with rice noodles instead of wheat which somen should be. We ordered the mango sticky rice which I have had in numerous thai restaurants, but it was ordinary rice with a coconut cream sauce which made it almost a rice pudding texture. Tasty, but not truly sticky. Service was OK - our server was clearly a rookie, and once he took our order we didn't see him again until he brought the tab.
