I was relocating from the state of Virginia to Texas. I received an estimate of some $12,000 and agreed I gave I believe about $4000 down payment prior to the day of the move. I was informed that that had been some mistakes made in the estimate and the price was increased. I do believe it was some $1200. On the day of the move. A box truck arrived, and I asked about the semi and he told me that they were going to repack at a different location. Well, that seemed kind of odd because I was told that I would not have half of a semi of material and now I'm being told that it's going to be more so now that he's telling me it's gonna be more he's pointing fingers back at the people I talked to at the company and the company is pointing the finger back at him telling me to both wrong, but of course he's not gonna do anything until I pay him an additional fee I was looking for the semi that they had told me was going to be not quite half field with my belongings when the movers arrived I was informed by the supervisor that this would be more than had expected, and that the area would be more than a half of a semi, but they came with a rental truck that was maybe 24 feet box truck pack this truck at my home and go to the semi and they rit well in the day of the rival on 11 August I was told that they wanted the final payment and it could not be a personal check. It could not be credit card or debit card. It had to be in postal money orders so now I'm on my way to the post office for money orders for some over $4000. Once the movers start bringing the belongings in I see that I have been charged for additional packing and their packaging was and I have photos taking wardrobe boxes and just piling things in on top of each other. No packing material no nothing just pile it in a wardrobe box tape it up and I had several boxes this way and charged for additional packing. This was a nightmare you wouldn't believe but , I'm told that moving is one of the most difficult things that you do well I have moved several times in my life. This is the worst, it could not have been worse. I have other folks property in with my shipment and I am missing several boxes that I packed. I guess you should never say it couldn't have been worse, but it was terrible. Cross country Movers has a number of moving companies that just aresimply called Cross country Movers but my Movers came out of Maryland, and as I said, it could not have been worse. Anyone using this company after I write this review you get what you get. PS I have a new phone and the photos are on a thumb drive. Sad to see one of my best friends go but was happy she found a new job that she was excited for out of state. She didn't want to go through the moving process alone so I helped find a company with her. She had put off the move for a bit so it was becoming a bit last minute! These guys were super helpful for taking on this move at such short notice. Really not a fan of packing or moving for that matter and neither is my girl. I learned about full service packing form this company. Really had no idea that moving companies offer this thing where they can actually take care of the packing for you. I'm going to give them 2 starts because the woman on the phone was nice and upfront, but they quoted me a minimum cost of $3000 for a 65 mile move. That's ridiculous for a 3 bedroom house. The woman who answered the phone recommended that I look for someone local, and that's exactly what I did. This was the first time that I had ever moved and I was looking for some help, so I called Cross country movers. The woman on the phone was nice but told me that it would cost an outrageous amount but after some negotiations I decided to go with them. Because of COVID I was a bit concerned and when they showed up with no masks I was worried. The two men that showed clearly had had a couple of drinks and it was only noon. But anyways I asked them for help moving my bed and they said yes but when we started to carry the bed down the stairs one of them checked their phone, started screaming and then proceeded to stomp down the stairs, sit in a corner and pout. After about an hour of sitting in the corner and crying he got up and started throwing my glass plates across the room like frisbees and then went to their truck and started throwing my belongings out of the back of the truck while chanting "I will avenge you Fredrick!!" Over and over again. Honestly I was done with them and decided that I could move my stuff myself and fired them. The men looked at me and started screaming at me in a different language. I think that it is safe to say that when I need to move again, I will not be calling them to come and help. read more

Well, I first have to say how amazing your whole crew is, from the nice lady on the phone line, to all the gentlemen who helped us move from Baltimore to New York, New York. These guys showed up bright and early, ready to get packing! I don't have a good back so I really couldn't lift anything, and definitely can't bend over. These guys made sure I didn't do a thing, except for instructing them and where to put certain things. They listened to everything I said the first time, and I didn't have to tell them twice. I had a fairly small size but long distance move a few months ago. After getting a few quotes, Cross Country Movers were a very reasonable price especially for the extent of service offered. Leading up to the move, I was assisted by Mason who always provided answers to questions I had and was able to make adjustments up to the day I moved. The actual moving process was overall pretty good. The truck arrived a bit late but once they arrived, they started dismantling furniture safely and packing efficiently. The truck arrived at my destination within the time frame stated and the whole delivery process went smoothly. Overall, a great moving company and would definitely recommend to others. 4.5/5 if I could be more precise, only dinging for the late truck arrival for pickup. read more

We just moved from Maryland to Arizona using Cross Country Movers. It cost us a cool $18000. We moved from a 3 bedroom suburban home to a 3 bedroom hacienda in southern Arizona. We had some very nice furniture including antiques and quality German furniture, as well as high end china. Our sales rep, Frank, was really nice and I felt he was honest and not pushy at all. He gave me the impression that we were hiring the best in the business. He said he would be available during the entire moving process, anytime we had concerns or we had questions. And, at the beginning, that was true. The whole business is very complicated, as there are many twists and turns to the whole operation. They have to pick up your stuff, then move it to a warehouse, then put it on another truck, etc. it's a huge shuffling operation. And so, here is the summation: The pickup guys were terrific, speaking multiple languages, and working with a positive attitude, wrapping everything in a most superb manner. We were there and watched all of it. In Arizona, quite a different scenario. The Serbian truck driver was in a hurry from the get go to get this over with. He had put our stuff in. a Uhaul and I guess he rented it for a certain period of time. He set the tone by rushing through everything. He ran over one of our cactuses backing up our driveway and refused to unpack stuff that was packed by Cross Country , and they were suppose to unpack. The tatted and pierced Tucson natives were very nice but could have cared less about our stuff. We have lots of the blankets that wrapped some of our stuff that we unwrapped ourselves, which they were supposed to do. As far as the furniture is concerned, we are still trying to put a shelf in our china cabinet that seems impossible, and still trying to find pieces of hardware to put together a pine cabinet. Our fine Noritake China, which we packed ourselves, is a broken mess, because these boxes are thrown around like your airport luggage. I was told that we should have had Cross Country pack our good China. That's not what you want to hear. We are very disappointed and feel that on the packing end things were good, but the unpacking was terrible. Once we arrived at our destination our contact Frank was more difficult to reach, as he usually had "meetings." We are still unpacking , so the story does not end here. Nick followed up on my order and committed to deliver in 7-9 working days.Can't explain how HAPPY I am on seeing my vehicle without any dents delivered by 7th working day.. They picked the vehicle on time, delivered on time as committed. That is a very basic but lacking feature in almost every other company out there. After some bad experiences recently I had with other movers , it's both surprising as well as overwhelmingly happy to see companies like CrossCountry movers that still give importance to customer,live up to their expectations, commit and deliver as committed. This is address the response from the movers on my review. You guys cost way too much than other companies. I hired you guys because reviews said they didn't have to pay more the day of the move but you guys did the exact thing what other companies were accused off. Again, cross country sent an estimator, gave a low estimate to induce my business, then on the day of the move, they charged me $1600 more dollars that they said "we worked down to $500-$600 (I don't remember the exact amount right now). It wasn't any negotiating, their estimator messed up and it should have been on them to correct it. Telling me, pay us $500-600 on the spot or we leave is not negotiating, it's bad faith and you guys should be ashamed of it. I have moved plenty before and this is by far the worst experience I have had. I would stay clear of them. I wouldn't be surprised if many of their reviews are fake. I wish I went with a company that were quoting half as much if I knew the service was going to be this terrible. read more

Baltimore has been great to me over the years, I have met many nice people, had great encounters and life experiences there, but it was time for me to move on. I found a nice place in Dover, Delaware. I just got the ok to go, and I needed a mover to get me and all of my many belongings over there to my new residence. It was a great trip, and I chose "Cross Country Movers" back in Baltimore to help me make that move. I really couldn't lift things myself and do all the heavy lifting due to my bad back. The service that these guys offer is truly second to none, they were very professional and did not stop and take a break until the entire job is done. If we had the chance to go back and change anything about the move was totally be to remove the spiral staircase that connected the bottom and top floors. After the last time my parents had hired a moving company they had constantly been in doubts about obtaining professional help. They said that we could just call his brother and my cousins to help us out however even after all of us tried to get things packed up it was a mess. I randomly called 3 companies and hired Cross Country Movers to do this job. Why?... Because they gave me a good price, that was one of the main factors, second was that it was easy to communicate with them and they were professional on the phone. Although they gave me flat price for my long distance move and Cross Country movers kept their word . I didn't pay anything else, but estimated price. On the day of move I had the truck in front of my studio right on time and movers called me 30 minutes before they were there. I am impressed with the service of these local movers. We never would have anticipated that it would have been such a simple process! We had a distance of  about fifteen miles away but it was way too much to handle just by ourselves. The crew of three guys showed up on time along with a driver of the truck. The were really patient and respectful waiting outside until my parents called them in. They wrapped and moved all my belongings with such great care.
