I am incredibly disappointed with this YMCA location. I moved to Buffalo a few months ago and…read morecalled this location to verify that I could have a Family Plan YMCA membership with my mother in another state. They said yes of course, and so we purchased the Family Plan. I came here to exercise a few times each month (prefer outside when able) and when I went last week I was told I could not exercise due to my Family Plan not being accepted. The lady at the front desk told me they don't allow the Family Plans for individuals long term and "The City of Buffalo prefers to have its YMCA members all paid members to the Buffalo YMCA, instead of a Family Plan" and she then said she would "let me exercise today free of charge as a curtesy but I have to sign up for an individual plan and unenroll in my active Family Plan" To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. The whole reason we enrolled in the family plan was because we were told ahead of time via phone call that that was accepted and then I continued to exercise at this YMCA with no problems up until last week.

This facility has an excellent "daycare" and playground for kids to enjoy at while adults workout. The only bummer is they cap the number if kids at 30 (which is understandable). But with all the New Year's resolution folks flocking to the gym, this has caused my son and I to wait for more kids to leave before he can enter. My only other complaint is the gym equipment is a little older than say an Esporta. And there isn't enough room near the free weights. Beyond that everything is great. Facility is clean. The pool is nice. Tons of other to-dos like a hot tub, basketballs courts and sauna. It's not expensive to join. I suggest looking at their schedule which is consistently updated to see if the amenities you require are open.

This is a new studio in Orchard Park. They use Megaformers here. Think Pilates reformers on…read moresteroids. I think there are 8 Megaformers in the lovely studio space. Parking is in back and the entrance is right there too, super convenient. Going in there is a beautiful reception area with comfortable seating. Sign In is easy. You can come dressed in workout clothes or change in one of the three large restrooms. Two of them that I saw had nice large showers as well. I didn't see bath towels so assume you bring those. I'd suggest bath mats in those rooms though as the floors will be slippery when wet. The class itself is a timed 40 min. Each day the sequence is different, I'm not sure if this is a national program that all places follow (like orange theory) or if the owner is making them up daily. But they will be different. This is not a chain so I imagine she's making up the routines daily. She holds a stopwatch and each exercise is done at your own pace, not by rep numbers. The idea is sloooow movements. And she will encourage you to go slooooower. So it's all about that movement and not relaxing or resting for that movement period. It's a full body workout, all low impact, but depending on how hard you work it could result in a raised heart rate. If done right it will likely result in some sore muscles, many you may not have felt for a long time. The movements are designed to hit areas you won't get from running or weight lifting. I enjoyed it a lot. I felt the exercises during and after the session. You'll get results quickly if you come here regularly (2,3 times a week). This is a nice addition to the options in Orchard Park and the Buffalo area. 2020

I heard about this method of exercise and was looking for a different workout for core strength. The instructor assisted me with how to properly stand/pull/bend/push/contort so that the proper muscles were being utilized to their fullest potential. The class flew by - we were busy working every moment and didn't really have time to think about a drink of water (I did pause to wipe sweat out of my eyes). I took my first class last night, and this morning I went to my regular work out and I couldn't believe how many muscles in unusual areas (such as in my stomach) ached. I highly recommend this Megaformer class!!

Like a lot of people, this time of year has me thinking about fitness goals. Unlike most people, I…read moredo not do New Year's resolutions. Never have. I started my journey on April Fool's Day instead. Yes, really. I began with a body scan to see just how "fat" I really was. Was is the key word here. Don't get me wrong, it took years to get where I was, but if I hadn't stopped the trend, I would be much larger today. And now after months of training with Nichole, the results are showing. I've lost some weight, but more importantly, I've gained muscle and real strength. Today I did seven full minutes of cardio. That might not sound like much, but for me, that is a huge win. I tried the trendy medications. The side effects and cost were just too much. So I went old school. Hard work, consistency, and guidance. That is where Nichole and EA Fitness come in. Nichole has the perfect balance of care and challenge. She pushes me beyond what I think I can do, but never so far that I risk hurting myself trying to beat my last session. She knows exactly when to push and when to pull back, and that kind of expertise matters more than people realize. EA Fitness has a great mix of machines and weights, so there is truly something for everyone, no matter your starting point. The environment is friendly, motivating, and completely judgment-free. No side eye. No pressure. Just encouragement and support from people who genuinely want you to succeed. If fitness is on your resolution list this year, or even if you decide to skip resolutions altogether like I did, I highly recommend checking out Nichole and EA Fitness and exploring the classes and services they offer. Starting is hard. Doing it alone is harder. This place makes it possible.

I never find myself waiting for cardio machines or weights; there's plenty of options. A big bonus for me is that there are very few days that this gym is closed. I feel like it's really only Christmas that they aren't open at all. On holidays like Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc. they have "member only hours," where you scan in with your fob and there may not be staff at the desk. If you're looking for a gym in the Southtowns that is clean, low volume, and has flexible hours, this is a perfect fit!
