I'd rate this club a zero. First, they charged my card with a charge for a sports drink that I had never purchased. Then I made a complaint twice for the manager to call me back. The manager never called me back. I complained about that, and an employee told me under his breath to close my account. So I called his bluff and did. I've been working out at this location a few times a week for over a year and occasionally visit 3 of their other locations. From my experience, it's the nicest location now that they finished the majority of their renovations. Perks: Smoothie bar - great variety and reasonable prices too ($6). Locker rooms are modern, have a sauna, and bathrooms are cleaned and well stocked with toilet paper. There's also hydromassage chairs that are free if you have the $20/month membership and a totally amazing way to end your workout! If you like taking classes, there are 2 big rooms for classes plus a spinning room and they offer a variety of classes throughout the week. Personal Training - they have two dedicated spaces for personal training, the "cage" which is in the middle of the gym and open, and a closed off room near the entrance. You also get access to a special scale that measures % body fat and muscle mass, then tracks your progress monthly. They'll also pair you with a trainer based on your personality and goals. Lastly, the staff here is friendly and there's a good variety of modern equipment. What could be improved at this location - some equipment will be out of order but not labeled, or not repaired/replaced for awhile. Their Wifi access points cannot support the number of members so it doesn't work unless you go during a slow hour. Parking lot can get busy, and plow service doesn't do a good job clearing spots. If these were improved this would be a 5 star gym. read more

Upon graduating college I came to the daunting realization that I would actually have to pay for a gym membership. Luckily for me, Catalyst is right near my house and is pretty affordable too! They offer plans at 3 different price points, with the cheapest being $10 a month. The value is amazing! Lots of cardio machines and weights to choose from. The staff up front is super friendly and they've got a bar for smoothies and protein shakes. My only real gripe is that sometimes it gets unbelievably hot and humid inside. Like working out in a rainforest. Besides that, can't complain too much! Icing on the cake is that it's a real judgement-free zone. I've never felt judged or like all eyes are on me, which is a gym win in my book! read more

The only gripe I have with this gym is that there is no pool. Other than that, there's everything I need; a variety if classes. Plenty of workout space, a kids area/day care, lots of equipment. There's even a women's only area and a smoothie bar. If you're a basketball or racquetball player, there are courts for that, and I hear that that there are saunas in the locker rooms. I did the math today, and here's what I found: I drink at least 1 case of water per week ($5). That's $20/ month on water. They have one of those filtered water bottle fillers that I refill a 1.5 liter bottle each day I go, so I don't need a case per week. For me, the free water alone makes it worth it! That's no reason to get a gymbership though. I need the access, at a convenient location at a place that opens early enough that I can go before work with classes that support my developmental needs, and equipment that allows me to work alone when I choose. They got it...and the 70 yr old ladies don't judge me when they're kicking my butt in spin class! read more

They have two areas of cardio machines, free weights, and cages for squats and more structured body free weight/barbell training. They also offer a sauna, and what looks like massage chairs. I've belonged to catalyst for a while now and recently upgraded my membership so I could go to the new class "FitLab" I asked several questions about the class and about my login etc. I had about 5 boy workers stare at me with confusion and finally speak to someone about helping me. I was late for the class so kindly asked if we could talk after. She left the gym and again I had 5 boy workers stare at me not helping me at all. Management should actually train and inform their front desk workers instead of them being muscular and pretty. They should help you instead of staring not knowing what to do and making you feel like a newbie. Wish I didn't upgrade. read more

I am forever done with Catalyst!!! If I could give them a zero I would! I got a membership June 2016 with them..while my work schedule got crazy and I didnt have a change to go anymore. Well back in June go in on the day my contract should have been done and I was going in to cancel it...well THEY FROZE IT INSTEAD AND CHARGED ME $55 IN JULY FOR MAINTENANCE FEES! For what!? I'm not using their damn gym, and didn't go since September 2016! WTF?! Well I go back in on 8/31 and CANCEL ONLY TO GET CHARGED A SWEET $30 more to cancel. Gets better. 2.5 weeks ago my debit card was hacked, and that card I used for the gym. Found out today they just charged me ANOTHER $40! And my membership status is still pending cancellation!!! WTF! Stupid being greedy! I never saw the trainer you get set up with when you sign up either. Staff doesnt care if you need to cancel either, for what ever you have. The place has really gone down hill. The front desk doesn't say hello or bye and are on there cell phones 90% of the time I waited like ten minutes the. The front desk lead Alex was very disrespectful to my wife when she said asked there 5 standing at the desk can somebody fill a bottle. He said that wasn't his job or there's. I go to this gym because it is close to home. I've went here for years. Relatively clean, and up to date equipment. Most staff is friendly, except for Olivia in particular. I am consistently treated rudely and given an attitude. From bringing a guest, to checking in with out my card which is "against policy", it is tiring to be given a pissy attitude. Catalyst needs to reevaluate their staff and give better customer service. If your going to hire high school children, maybe train them to treat others with respect. read more

I love this place! I've been going five days a week since February. I acquired a trainer and I've lost over 30lbs so far. A nice location. I've been coming here for years. The improvement they've done to this gym is amazing. They modernize the whole gym. Took out the girl section. But the showers are clean and chic. My favorite part is the turf. Doing lunges just got easier and there's so much room to lay and do abs or just workout on the turf in general. However, the staff is getting worse by the years. You can tell they don't want to be there and half the time they just stand there, so I don't know why their life is so lifeless. read more

Oh it's a gym! It's convenient and has all of what you need from machines to free weights to racks. I've been a member to this location for years, and have visited nearly all other catalyst fitness locations. The whole building and roof has had the same constant leaks and maintenance issues for years. The plaza where this catalyst is located... very not appealing to the eyes either lol. You will see pools of water dripping onto the floor, especially by where the leg machines and squat racks are located. Buckets of water all over the place getting filled and two of the squat racks are drenched from the stated roof issue, very annoying. Lot of machines down and in need of maintenance every single month and it's a very popular location. Gets crowded around peak hours as expected, but it is what it is. Most Staff are very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable of their club. The equipment, bathrooms, and other rooms like the sauna and massage/water bed rooms are kept clean and are modern. Unless you really have no other options by your location in Lancaster/Depew/Cheektowaga I'd recommend the maple location to be a member to. read more

This is a great gym, but there customer service sucks! I've tried multiple times to get ahold Of someone in regards to my membership and have yet to hear anything back in weeks. I want to change my membership to a cheaper monthly payment to which some staff suggested I call their customer service number to have to avoid paying a new $100 start up fee which according to the manger Andrea "is unavoidable and must be paid". When I first gotten a hold of customer service they told me to go to talk To the manger Andrea and tell her to call Heather and they would take care of the $100 start up fee. When I talked to Andrea she basically laughed in my face and said Heather didn't know what she was talking about and she wouldn't waive the $100 for me. Since then I've been trying to call customer service and have had no answers!! I'm deeply disturbed that this is such a highly prestige business and gym. read more

I used to love Catalyst. I started my membership 4 years ago and 4 years ago it was so phenomenal. He major reason I chose Catalyst over other gyms in the area was they were clean, friendly, up to date and they had a pretty nice sized women's workout area. Since then, Catalyst has lost its friendliness and welcoming environment along with the women's workout area. I have been to both the French Rd location and the Williamsville location and in the last 2 years I have noticed a severe decline in the customer service provided. The staff working seems to be getting younger and younger and they care less and less. I have no problem with young staff, seeing as how I am only 20 years old, but the staff they have been hiring is lazy, rude and quite unprofessional. I am going to begin my search for a new workout facility tomorrow. read more

Would not recommend this gym at all, used to be a great atmosphere and place to go. Every since COVID the gym has gone down hill, especially Alex the Zumba instructor, he feels as though he is king and continuously cancels peoples memberships without them knowing. Don't go here or give them your money, he said it himself he doesn't care about your membership or your money. Think about that they don't care about the members who pay their bills and are the reason they stay in business. He cancels many memberships daily if your mask comes off your nose, which if you're working out to any extent sometimes you need to pull your mask down to catch your breath. This gym has become nothing more than a corporation who could care less about its members they just care that they are making money. They accept so many new members that there's no way to social distance but that's okay because they want to make money. I've been a member of catalyst since they've open, along with planet fitness. Depending on my mood I go to either gym, I utilize my catalyst membership most. I normally go to the Wehrle location. I've been to the one on French rd maybe 3 times and each time I came across racist vibes. This one isn't as diverse as the Wehrle location. This one has all white employees and white members. They literally see you and look like they've seen a ghost employees and others. Lots of white girls with very dark tans, wanna-be's in my eyes. Long story short not as pleasant as other gyms. I requested to cancel one day in person and was told that the manager that could help me wasn't there but they didn't know when he would be there that week. So I tried to cancel via email. By the time they responded to my email telling me that I had to cancel in person , the gym was closed due to Covid 19. Told them online that I wanted to cancel as I am moving and would not me close to my home gym any longer. They said they needed proof that I was moving at least 15 miles away!!! Zero stars for this gym located in Depew's former Kmart shopping plaza. This gym has no respect for your privacy. They have been using female cleaners to clean the men's locker room during the gym's operating hours. On 2 occasions I went to Catalyst mid-day and found one or more females in the men's locker room where guys were changing their clothes and taking showers. Yes, they were actually cleaning shower stalls in the shower area when guys were showering in adjacent stalls... RIDICULOUS!!! The first time I witnessed this I complained to the woman at the front desk and was told the manager would call me....she didn't. Second time the manager was there and I complained and expressed my outrage. She told me if I didn't like it I should cancel my membership. Extremely low class place in my opinion. read more

My girlfriend was getting ready to have her membership expire at a competitors gym so naturally I brought her here to check it out. They didn't even hook her up with a 1 day pass. They told her a day pass is $10 so you mind as well sign up there since that's what their monthly fee is. Terrible way to do business. From this experience I'm now taking my membership, my brothers, and potentially my girlfriends business elsewhere. read more

The staff here has gone downhill quickly!! I have been a member for years but recently had to endure constant staff creepers. In my work I deal with men (of varying manners) all day, but this was out of hand! When I complained to management about a couple specific staff members it only got worse. I felt so uncomfortable. This is a great fitness facility. They offer a juice bar, daycare, a women's only workout area, and a variety of exercise classes. The women's only workout section is not that big. There is a cardio area upstairs with about 4 treadmills, ellipticals, and two spinning bikes. They have some monitors with TV stations on them and one of them has the monitor to the daycare area so you can keep an eye on your child if you would like to. The women's locker room is spacious. Have plenty of locker space. There is a sauna in there which is pretty cool. The Zumba class looks like it's a lot of fun. The Yoga Pilates fusion class is always packed, so come early if you want to have a spot. read more

I have been working out here since I moved back to WNY from Indianapolis last summer. I love working out at every location: The staff is always pretty friendly and attentive, the equipment seems to be maintained well, and the smoothies rock. While on the subject of smoothies, this is a pretty minor gripe: Depending on who makes it and/or cashes you out, your price for specific smoothies (whether they have slight alterations from a standard smoothie on their menu or a "build your own") will vary depend on who does it. There is a "build your own" that I normally get, and depending on who takes care of me, I have been charged between $5 to up to about $7.80. I said something before and it really doesn't bother me, but I think a greater effort needs to be made to standarize prices. read more

I have been working out at different fitness centers in the WNY area for the past 30 years. I can only give the perspective of a male who does not go to any of the aerobic or spin classes. The equipment is new and high quality. You won't find old worn out pieces from the 1980s here. The place is clean and it is clear that the owners reinvest in their centers. It appears that they put hundreds of thousands of dollars in the remodel at this location when many gym owners would just leave the status quo. I actually work out most days at home but for the $9.99 a month I just keep my membership for days I want to change things up. This gym is hands-down a five star location. I was surprised to see some low rated reviews of this location.The staff here is no more no less friendly than any staff at any gym. read more

I recently joined catalyst fitness and am very impressed! All the les mills classes, day care, shake bar, etc. It's awesome! It's clean and a great environment to meet new people trying to get fit. What I also think is cool is the healthy restaurant next door fresh healthy cafe. The last straw was to find out others have been paying $10 less than me. They also socked me with a cancellation fee. Money grabbing gym which does not care about retaining members.
