All materials were provided, even aprons to protect your clothes; instructions length was about 2.5 hrs but we stayed 30 more minutes taking pictures and chilling right after class. Music was good and we were allowed to give suggestions and even use our own playlist via Bluetooth. Instructor was painting step by step and we jus mimic the step she does, she makes painting so easy that's you would think you can do fine art for a living The paint they use don't have any heavy smell and it dries fast, it's water based and that makes it really easy at the end for you to carry your masterpiece home without making a mess. I arrived Wednesday evening to pick the prints and was told scornfully "I told you Thursday or Friday" . The man was not only wrong but very combative in his tone and language. I can understand if the prints were not made by the set pickup date but I can not understand the need to act defensively and the attempt to shift blame onto me, the paying client. The man told me I could come back Thursday and I asked if he was positive and he confirmed. He said he would text me when they were done and I left. I walked in Thursday afternoon and the man said "you're here to pick up the prints aren't you, I told you Thursday or Friday and that I would text you". He wasn't apologetic he was annoyed. I countered he confirmed they would be ready Thursday and he became even more argumentative and dismissive. Regardless of the pick up times that were argued, this is extremely poor customer service. I paid in advance for a service which was not rendered in the agreed upon timeframe and instead of being accommodating or at the least kind about it I was met with contempt and made to feel like I was an annoyance. This is inexcusable. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

We wanted to paint some of the marvel characters that we saw in a picture and also saw as a finished product on the shelf, but they were sold out. It's $8 to sit and then the price of the pottery on top of it. It's not cheap, but you're paying for the entertainment of it, the experience and memories, as well as, bringing home a one of a kind painted pottery. Additionally, there's a credit card fee if you pay with credit card. So I opted to pay in cash. Owners/staff are friendly. The staff offered suggestions on how to start painting (e.g. sketching out my design with a pencil first). But be patient, the owners have broken English. He proceeds to lecture my kid on using a big brush so he will finish faster. Is fast the goal here? It was overbearing and he didn't get any social cues to back off. More people come in -- a 5 and 8-year-old. He insists they sit together even though there's plenty of space because as he says: "this way I don't have to keep walking back and forth." It's a small shop people. Now we are crowded next to a 5-year-old who has ants in his pants and is ready to climb the walls. Relaxing it was not. Then there's the dog, which they keep in the store. I don't mind dogs, but some do. One such customer said her kid was afraid and could they put the dog away. He is put in the back only to keep coming back out or yap. Now we have to listen to the drama unfolding. But, I think the final straw, after enduring all this was that when I asked for a fine point brush because all the brushes out had bristles that were worn out I was informed customers ruined them so that's what they had. The message here: We can't have nice things and neither can you. I get kids are the main customers but it's an art shop and I KNOW brushes are not that expensive that you can't keep some aside for adults who are trying to do some more detailed work. So, no, it wasn't much fun, and it was sure as hell not relaxing. We won't be back.

I was making pants for the first time and they were different colors, so the materials had to work well together as far as weight and appearance. This is a family-owned, Black-owned, women-owned, small business in the Bronx and they don't stop at just offering fabric, trimmings and tailoring. They also host sewing camps for kids and adults. They have various types of machines thta you cna come in to try out and see what might work for you. The prices of their fabrics are reasonable. I did purchase some shears that I was able to find for less money elsewhere, and I was able to return them in exchange for store credit. This policy did not bother me because I plan to return for more fabric, as our cosplay is quickly becoming an annual tradition, but be advised that you will get store credit in lieu of a full refund. Owners, Clarissa and Nadine, are very knowledgeable and a wealth of tips and suggestions. If you're just starting our, they are perfect to answer any questions you may have. I'm fairly new and went in not know what I could do. I basically just explained my dilemma and was directed to the best fabric for what I wanted to construct. It was the first time I ever made pants, two-toned no less, and they came out amazing. When I visited, I had my kiddo with me and she was gifted with some scrap fabric and an elastic band, and a quick tutorial to construct a simple scrunchie. Here, she bought all her threads, Singer machine needles, zippers, etc. With a minimalist Pinterest inspiration for a small beige linen curtain for my new half-bathroom in mind, my mom and I searched for the fabric. Similar to Chester Sewing, Blossom Holness still remains the lone survivor in the world of family-owned fabric stores as I previously described in my Chester Sewing review. Now, with brand new owners, Nadine and her ladies are bringing a new mix to their model. She's included 6? 8? 10? portable sewing machines for sewing classes. What a wonderful idea and addition to their shop to bring the community together. You'll find the silks with silks, cotton with cotton, upholstery-type fabric with like fabric, etc. Except, out of all the colors available, beige was non-existent, so settled for a cotton (not the feel I was going for). Do know that Blossom Holness has a delightful selection of gorgeous notions, buttons and trims- so definitely check it out.
