My complaint comes a few years late. At the time I was so distraught that I couldn't even handle speaking about what happened. My dog had been diagnosed w epilepsy and possibility of a brain tumor. Unfortunately while being on drugs to control seizing she aspirated on fluid. My roommate drove us to this location while I was trying to provide CPR. She passed away in the car enroute. Panicked I walked in to get help to possibly revive her or just so I wouldn't have to carry my dead dog. When I got to the front desk they told me simply that there was nothing that would do and that in order to keep guests calm I was to go to their back entrance and a nurse would come and collect the body. When the nurse arrived at the vehicle she was a petite lady upon looking at my 70 pound dog she quickly says "oh she's to big for me I'll need you to carry her in". I bring my dog through the back door in to what appears to be a broom closet. The nurse then grabs a black trash bag and asks me to place my dog in the bag while she held it open. While I'm still holding my deceased dog in a black trash bag she begins clearly clutter from the top of what would be the freezer I would now be placing my dog in. She patted my shoulder and said "sorry you had to do this but you can't stay back here you can back around through the front to decide what do to do with her body". Truly this is most disgusting and traumatizing thing I have EVER had to endure. The lack of professionalism and sympathy deeply disturbs me and it's been 4 years. I've taken my dog to this pet check a few times before and didn't have any issues but this time I left feeling very unhappy. The tech took down the info of why I was there and then Dr. Mark came in and started right in with a list of what to say. He doesn't seem to care about what you have to say or ask any questions. I know my dog best, so why not listen and ask questions? While he was going down his list of possible reasons for my dogs problem, the tech took my dog to get his nails clipped... I said to her beforehand that I'm typically able to do it but the last couple times, I clipped a nail too short. Once she brought him back, I could already tell that the nail clipping job was choppy and rough looking, so I checked underneath to see if he bled because one nail was definitely far too short... there were clearly multiple nails that she clipped too short because there was clotting material on quite a few nails. Why didn't she mention this? I left there $200 later with no answers or rather, a bunch of possibilities, and a shampoo to try on my dog. I then noticed blood in the car and assumed that one of the nails she clipped too short opened back up but instead found out at home when I noticed blood on the couch that instead of it being a nail bleeding, that there was a gash right near the nail. She clearly had a hard time with him and I can only imagine how rough they might've been with him to put a gash in his foot. Why didn't she mention any of it to me? I think most people would agree that you want to know that your pet is in good hands. I'm very disappointed and will not be going back to this pet check. I'd recommend the deptford one but maybe Thrive would even be better. read more

When I took my dog in for emergency treatment, tbey make you commit by signing before any services are done, they make you sign so you have to pay, they don't tell you your pet is dying, instead give you all unnecessary medicine that won't do any to help the ultimate outcome. My pet passed away less than 24 hours after being seen at this urgent care and the cost was way over $500.00 for them to do absolutely nothing. The hundreds of dollars charged in medicine was for nothing since my pet did not even take any of the medication before passing. I went back to return the UNUSED AND UNOPENED medicine and the receptionist said her Manager would call me back to see if they would refund me for the unused/unopened medicine. They did not even have the decency of calling me back. They did not even have an ounce of sympathy with the passing of my pet. They did not have the courage to tell me my pet was not going to survive the next 24 hours due to her condition. The company only wants your money. I usually get pet medication from Chewy.com and they not only refunded my money and told me to donate the flea medication to another animal And then sent me flowers when I told them about my pet passing. The urgent care has no heart! No sympathy while I am grieving. No compassion and no professionalism in returning my calls. Only to put me in hold when I call!! We've been here for two injuries with our coonhound and both visits exceeded our expectations. Prices are clear and not over the top. Doctors and staff are fantastic and it's clear they genuinely care for you animal. We saw Dr Garcia after our hound consumed a corn cob and we were really impressed by his knowledge and with the extent to which he was invested in our dog. I got put on the waiting list for my 10 year old black lab Trent today, i was told i would receive a text when to head to the Urgent Care. I received the text, and headed over. My lab is EXTREMELY nervous in the car (its a 15 min drive), and ended up pooping in the car out of anxiety. I was in such a rush i quickly cleaned it and sped to Pet Check. The receptionist was nice at first, checked me in. There were 4 others in the waiting room. My dog is older so he's super patient, but after 1.5 hours of waiting and watching both receptionists make small talk, lunch plans, etc. i ended up leaving. Trent's back legs give out quick and are very fragile, he was up all night heavily panting and pacing, and is overall needing to be checked for overall quality of life. At one point, i even sat on their grimey floor just to soothe him. The staff paid no attention, and when i asked how much longer the receptionist said "oh, 3 patients needed blood work". WHY if this is an urgent care do you rush people there to wait almost 2 hours?! When i said i was leaving, the receptionist just said "sorry" as i walked out. Didn't try to make it right and gave a fuck less about Trent and his condition. The most disappointing "urgent care" - only go if its your last resort and be prepared to wait. read more

I had a bad experience with my vet and ended up having to find an emergency/urgent care to take my dog too - PCUC was recommended to me. My dog was having a reaction from his annual vaccines that he got at another vet. The vets at Pet Check were so compassionate and caring towards me AND my dog. I was very clearly stressed and worried that I could not go in with him due to COVID and the staff reassured me that he will be taken care of, which he surely was! We left with answers and medicine to make my little guy get back to feeling like himself again. They did a better job than my routine vet had and the prices were better. Amazing place. I'm absolutely thrilled by the care and service provided here, after my first visit with one of my pets. I just adopted a new kitten last week, conditional on him coming through with clear bloodwork (FeLV and FIV testing, since I have other cats in the house). However, my regular vet (St. Francis) couldn't get me an appointment for three weeks, and the last time I went to them for emergency care I waited almost 6 hours to be seen. So I wasn't going to that again. Every other vet was going to be a 6-8 week wait, and I just needed these basic tests done before I grew too bonded to the kitty (or put my other cats at exposure risk). Husband mentioned seeing Pet Check while driving through the area so I showed up right after their opening time at 9am on a Monday morning. I was actually in, had kitty tested (negative, yay!), and had his first vaccinations and deworming treatments finished in 45 minutes. The pricing was extremely fair as well. I was also thrilled that I could actually go inside with my pet and meet the nurse & vet taking care of him instead of having to try to communicate my concerns and needs via telephone from the parking lot (as has been the routine at St. Francis since covid-19 began). All in all I can't recommend PetCheck highly enough for anyone needing routine or basic urgent care at this time, especially if you are struggling to get an appointment with your regular vet in a timely fashion. The staff was also great, the facilities clean and very modern, and I was 100% satisfied with my visit. read more

I was so pleased with my visit to Pet Check. The reception staff were friendly and efficient, explaining the rather unique procedure for visiting. I completed my form and then went home to wait my turn. It was so simple: I just kept checking the app to find out when was next. When it got to patient number two, I simply drove back to the office and walked in the door. Almost immediately, my dog and I were called inside. The techs who dealt with my dog were professional and very nice. My dog thought so too! The vet who came in to give my dog her shots was excellent. He gave her a quick but thorough exam, gave her her shots, and we were soon on our way home. I highly recommend Pet Check. They are so much more than an emergency/urgent care office. Word to the wise, however, they are not less expensive than a "regular" vet; price for a visit and heart worm/flea meds was about the same as I have paid before. read more

When my son, daughter-in-law and I came to this facility for our first time I have to say that the care was quite good.I have no complaints about the care of our pup and the staff was very nice. However, when we went to check out we presented a coupon that was given to us by our groomer as a promotional feature to get people to come in and try them out. When I gave them the coupon ( which was for 50% off of our first visit) they would not honor it. There were no stipulations printed on the. Coupon as to when or how it could be used so needless to say we were very disappointed that they would not honor it. No explanation could be given as to why they wouldn't honor their own coupon. Needless to say we felt somehow tricked or fooled. For this reason alone we won't be back. read more

Deptford Pet urgent care is a joke. Nothing is urgent or convenient about it. They are NOT open 7 days a week, and they close early everyday. Also walk ins are clearly not welcomed and they let you know by telling you that you should of called first, although the thing is- I did! I was told on the phone they were closing at 6pm (it was Monday) I got there at 5:26 and she said they were too busy, although the place was totally empty except one patient was checking out to leave. I even begged for the receptionist to ask a doctor to please make an exception to see my pet, since this was the second time I tried to get in there and I just needed a RX for my pets ear infection and they still said no. They cared more about closing early then customers and treating animals. I was given a business card to call the other location in Sewell but when I finally got a person on the line, they said they had a 3 hour wait and since they are closing at 9, I can call back tomorrow. For all that, I'm going back to my veterinarian, at least they don't advertise false information and rejection! read more

Took my dog here 04/01/2020 to get his eye looked at. There wasn't much they could do because of his medical history/ problem that needed a specialist but I am so glad the visit was affordable compared to getting charged a $149 fee at the vet we usually go to. I was recommended here by my current veterinarian's office and I am so happy they sent me! I walked in and was greeted by an extremely friendly receptionist (I forgot to get her name from 2/27 around 7pm) .. filled out one short form and waited in the waiting room less than 15-20 minutes. When I'm went back I was helped by two of the nurses one named Huey and I can't remember the females name but both of them were excellent with my poor little kitty as well as with me. Dr. Andy was the veterinarian who treated my kitty and he was absolutely wonderful especially with ensuring the treatment my kitty received was the best for her at this stage in her wounds infection process. The entire visit lasted less than an hour and the total for her care was just about the same I would have paid at my current veterinary office! They also don't charge the office visit if you need to have a follow up! I highly recommend taking your furbabies here to get quick, effective, and compassionate care! The worst vet I've been to. Took my dog there for vomiting and diarrhea. Made me wait 2 hours even though I called ahead. Meanwhile other pets have come and gone in no time. They don't answer the phone. They tell you via text your "place in line" but as pets come and go your place doesn't move. They charge so much money for nothing and don't find the problem. Then they tell me to come back the next day to check on her at noon. Against my better judgement I brought her back because I thought it was the right thing to do. I bring her back and they don't even know the gender or what she's there for. I said you told me to bring her back. They asked if she was still vomiting. I said no, they said well you didn't have to bring her back then because there is nothing for us to do. So I proceed to ask the person on the phone why they told me to come back today and he says "I don't know it's your dog". Extremely unprofessional and rude. read more

The front desk staff are kept busy, but seem to forget that people's pets are like children. They can be curt, rude, and not pass along messages. There is also not clear communication regarding schedules of the vets there, billing for meds ($25 minimum even if you can purchase at local pet store for over 50% less), and how soon results of any tests will be shared. If your pet is not "easy" be prepared to be rushed. Also, the front desk staff acts as if they guard the vets, instead of allowing owners to call and ask questions. I waited over 5 days and still never received a phone call back after leaving a message regarding a plan for my pet. I discovered neither front desk girl passed the message along. The staff seems surprised when owners request answers to questions about their fur baby. After feeling like I finally found a vet I was comfortable with, the lack of communication and total disrespect toward me as well as my pet, I will not be back. Unfortunately, they let me leave without a complete diagnosis as well as partial treatment, all because they did not own up to poor customer service and awful communication. I will share my experience with EVERYONE I know! I also have a pet who is still suffering with an infection. I consider this negligent on the part of PetCheck. read more

RATING SHOULD BE NEGATIVE STARS! DON'T GO HERE, THEY ALMOST KILLED MY 9 MONTH OLD CAT b/c two vets missed a blockage seen on their x-rays! And now lying saying I declined services which I absolutely did not, I totally went on the advice of the vet (won't give me her name and she not listed on their website) I saw on Wednesday that told me "I'm torn b/c she looks good, and I don't want to send you for an ultrasound so I think we should give her a shot of an antibiotic". However, I am being told this vet put that I "declined" an ultrasound in the medical notes!! I know this is typical doctor cover your butt stuff b/c I am a paralegal who does medical malpractice defense! My cat had to have emergency surgery last night for this blockage so if they had told me that she would have had surgery sooner but they missed it. Due to Covid 19 my primary vet didn't have appts so they referred me here so I brought my 9 month old cat to this office on Tuesday afternoon because of vomiting. She was seen by Dr. Felipe Garcia. Dr. Garcia examined and took x-rays of my cat. Dr. Garcia advised that he did not see anything suspicious for a blockage on the x-rays so he hydrated her under the skin and gave her a shot of Cerenia (anti-emetic medication I believe) and told me that I could come back the next day for more x-ray views at no cost. I returned the next day and a female veterinarian (I don't recall her name) called me and told me that she took more x-rays and spoke with Dr. Garcia on the phone. Of interest, is the fact that the doctor told me that she spoke with Dr. Garcia and the "spot" he saw the day before was no longer there, what is interesting is the fact that Dr. Garcia never told me he saw anything but I guess this is the reason he told me I could come back the next day for more x-rays at no cost. The doctor on Wednesday told me nothing she saw was alarming and that my cat looked "good" so she said didn't want to refer me for an ultrasound and instead would give her a shot of an antibiotic. I told both vets that my cat hadn't pooped but she said "Well, I had to go up there and some poop came out, and it is hard but there is no reason she shouldn't be able to pass it". I asked the vet what to look out for with cat and she told me excessive, repeated vomiting. The next day my cat seemed to be better, she was crying to get out of her quarantine room and she wanted water. At this point, she was drinking and eating a little bit, however, on Wednesday evening after drinking water, she vomited a lot. So first thing Thursday morning I called my normal vet and made an appointment for Friday evening at 5 pm. Also, my cat had a thorn from a bush stuck in the roof of her mouth and yet, neither of these vets, on two separate days supposedly "examined" her but missed a thorn stuck in the roof of her mouth and a blockage that was seen on their second day of x-ray!
