Had to bring my. Kitty. Kat in for seizures. She was 14years and 3months. Temperature 103.6 lethargic and eyes were not responsive. She was put to sleep on the 3rd of October staying with her throughout the procedure. After she passed I stayed with her another 40 minutes. Thank you for your time and understanding. My name is Tinkerbell & I was rescued from The City of Elderly Love in PA, I now live in Mullica Hill NJ with my new Mom & Dad. I don't know how old I am but I'm definitely a senior & I have special needs due to cataracts I'm pretty much blind, I'm also deaf, I have arthritis issues & muscle loss in my hind area & legs. Dr. Shinn was very thorough & gentle, she checked me all over, she even gave me what Mom said was an adjustment to my back & it feels better now! I went to pitman animal hospital and saw dr. Harris for my kittens Oscar and Felix. Dr. Harris is a caring person who takes great care of animals. I known him since he had his old place and it is amazing how far his practice has grown. He has been a vet for quite a while and he has always been up front with me and has been very honest. His staff are caring people who make you feel welcome. I left the doctor for awhile cause I moved farther away but now that I moved back in the area I will continue to see him and his staff. All vet bills are high anymore it is a fact of life but I rather go to this hospital than go anywhere else with caring people who truly care about your pet. read more

We have returned to Pitman Animal Hospital after care received at another clinic in the area failed to meet our expectations. We recalled our experience at Pitman Animal Hospital fondly where we took our pet for a second opinion in about 2013. While we don't know if we will stay, we can say they treat us with the utmost respect, and I feel like our pet is part of their family. They are caring, compassionate and I believe really care for animals. It's all about the customer service, and at this point, they meet all requirements. Super expensive, My wife took our dog in to get her ear cleaned. 65 just to walk in the office and get weighed, 53 to clean the ear, 48 to sooth the ear, 60 to look at what was in the ear. 90 for a Lymes test (not sure why that was needed) and heartworm pills. $480 dollars is ridiculous. I get that everyone is trying to squeeze people for money but this was a joke. We will be looking for a new vet. read more

I am a single guy with no kids and live an active life - my dog(s) are my #1 priority outside of my family, and there is NO other veterinarian I would trust in the Philadlephia area with my pup than Dr. Harris & the staff at Pitman Animal Hospital. I have been going to see Dr. Harris while living in Center City Philadlephia since my 1st dog 10 yrs ago. He is a smart guy, University of Penn Vet educated I think, extremely passionate and willing to answer any of my questions no matter who crazy or small they may be. I am able to get an appointment usually within mins of calling the office, and with my busy schedule that's important to me. The facilities are top notch and you're in and out without hassle. I honestly believe that Dr. Harris and the staff at Pitman Animal Hospital, especially the ladies up front truly care and are concerned for my pup's well being. read more

The place was pretty busy. I had a long wait despite my appointment because there were some "emergencies". I am only putting this up here so other people who might run into this problem can share to indicate if it is problem, or just a one time or occasional incident. Aside from the wait time, the vet was excellent. I didn't need specialty care so I cannot attest to that, but the vet was very gentle with my baby and I appreciate it. The place was spotless and odor free. I have no reservation recommending this place to someone looking for a new place in the area. read more

My family has been going to Pitman for over 12 years. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and most importantly -- knowledgeable. When I adopted my German Shepherd, Remy, Dr. Erde advised as to how to get some healthy weight on him (he was a stray and dangerously thin). When I didn't listen and fed him until he was fat, he guided me as to how to slim him down. When he became a senior and started to suffer from bad hips and other problems, he worked with me to get his pain medication just right. I have also never been "sold" items or procedures which were unnecessary. I highly recommend them! read more

I travel all the way from Wilmington, Delaware (45 minutes one-way in no traffic) to take my bunny here. He is a chronic dental patient and will need at least 2 teeth trimmings a year, where he briefly has to undergo anesthesia. They routinely charge approx $200 for a service that a veterinarian in Wilmington quoted me $1,200. Dr. LeFerrier loves Monster and exotics and is the absolute best. I feel totally comfortable bringing Monster there and knowing he's in good hands. This place is truly a God send. read more

My dog has a collapsible windpipe and always honks when she gets excited. On Friday it got a little out of control to the point where she sounded like she couldn't breathe. I got really nervous and decided to run her Over here since it's across the street from where I live. They were great and took me right away. The dr was amazing and explained the X-ray and what's goin on. She's on medicine and seems to be doing little better. They followed up the next day with a phone call to make sure I was ok because I was Nj there havin a fit and to make sure she's ok. I have 5 dogs and have been going here for over a year, and I am extremely impressed with some of the doctors. Now that we have been here many times for check ups, shots, emergency visits for poisoning and another for an injury, as well as a dog neutering and spayings we always request either: Sabra Olsen, DVM Genevieve LaFerriere, DVM [Pitman Animal Hospital has a nicely done website, and you can review all of the doctors and their credentials there.] My wife and I have great confidence in these doctors. Dr. LaFerriere preformed 2 spays, and we were very impressed. My wife is a medical doctor, and she has remarked many times on how tiny and neat the scars were, which is really good, and both spays came in at under $500. We have has some issues in the past before; however some of these problems have cleared up. One minor yet always persistent problem we have had is that there always, not sometimes, but always is an issue with staff or doctors trying to find paperwork on our dogs when needed- the reason being seems to be there just one folder in our name and all of our 5 dogs paperwork is kept in one file. Inevitably this makes for a problem when even basic paperwork is needed to be found on out dogs. Most of all of our required paperwork seems to be in the file, BUT things like shot records get lost time and again. So not trying to be nit-picky; however it is not a problem at other clinics in our experience. If you have just a one or a few pets this should not be a problem. An example of what we consider to be a bigger problem is we recently had to do an emergency visit. One of our dogs had been bitten in the eye. Her bleeding stopped on the drive over because our dog was from sitting on my lap, BUT the natural excitement of being in the waiting room caused the freshly cut wound to reopen. The doctor we saw said we could have the option of putting her under for a surgery that involved giving a stitch on her lower eyelid, and that the surgery would be mostly cosmetic. So... we would have most likely opted to not have cosmetic surgery done because we would not want to ever unnecessarily put our dog under. There was no pressure either way, and everything was well explained. We had to wait a long while for the estimate in veterinary clinic room. In the meantime our dog's face way covered in blood. The bleeding had stopped. Our dog had been examined and taken to from our room to the back, and returned - never having been cleaned with bllody fur and BLOOD IN HER EYE. While waiting for the estimate my wife, a doctor, helped herself to paper towels and tap water to clean the blood out of her eye. At home we would have had access to cotton pads, cue tips, and antiseptic to clean the wound. There was a lot of blood The doctor did not notice that all the blood was gone, nor do we think the doctor would have cleaned the wound or blood froem her eye. Maybe if she did there would be extra $ charges- everything is nickeled and dimed. Still we thought that cleaning the blood out of the eye, and off the eyelid, and the dog's face would have been a standard procedure. Again this dogs face was clearly bloody. The estimate came back at like around $800 on the low end with $500 for one stitch to the lower eyelid. We had just paid for 2 spays and each had come out to under $500. We thought that the estimate was really high because it was around twice the cost of a spaying- a far, more complicated procedure. So maybe $800 for a stitch is a going rate, and I do know of clinics that would charge far more. However, it did seem steep for again when a complicated procedure like a spaying costs half of what a stitch does. I can only imagine what 2 stitches would have run. This billing cost more than clinics for humans. We should have stayed home after the lack of treatment this time round. We wish our favorite doctors had been there. That plus having to clean our own dog's eye after a doctor had many opportunities too is why we still shop around a bit. Checkups and even the charge for an emergency visit is $50 per dog, which is fair. We did try one other clinic just once, and we were shocked to find that the price for a simple visit was over triple that! One thing to note is that they will only see 3 pets at a time, and I have been to other clinics where this is not an issue as we have small 10-15 lbs. dogs. Also as far as shots go- at least one doctor has a policy of not giving more than 3 shots at a time, which meant making an extra appointment when 5 regular puppy shots are needed, and this also meant paying for the extra visits. Most other clinics do not have this stipulation, and I am not sure whether this is Pittman's policy or just one of the doctors. Pitman Animal Hospital does have some very professional skilled surgeons, and occasionally great staff. Local friends recommend the clinic very highly, and have gone there for many years, and the clinic is well established. . read more

Dr. LaFerriere is the best. The front office staff is awesome even giving King a massage after his visits. Dr. LaFerriere and staff took great care of my dog King. He was hit by a car and the veterinarian that I took him to for years told me that they couldn't fit him in until later that afternoon. I am so thankful that my daughter recommended Pitman Animal Hospital. We were immediately seen. King made a full recovery thanks to everyone's love and expertise. Also, I want to say that when we had to put our cat Sphinx to sleep..it was very traumatic for my daughter but they waited until I arrived to comfort my daughter and let us stay with him as long as we wanted. Been going to PAH for 16 years now. In that time I have had 5 large breed dogs, 2 of which were / are service dogs and the treatment and care has always been exceptional. The entire staff is knowledgeable and friendly and have always made themselves available should I have any questions. The vet can often be a stressful place and I personally have experienced the most serious of issues to the routine stuff. I brought my dog there yesterday morning and I was waiting in the parking lot for them to open in the morning . They worked on my baby until 11:30 at night and saved her life ! I didn't think she could make it but they worked so hard and saved her . I've been going there for years and they've always been great but yesterday was Miraculous . Everyone there is awseome ! I have 2 dogs right now and have had other dogs over the years so I've been to several vet offices. I have never had such great care for my pets in my life. All the doctors are very talented and always take great care of my babies! I brought my 13 year old cat to Pitman Animal Hospital. He was losing weight, but still eating, drinking and active. Dr. Berg was his vet that day from Pitman Animal Hospital, and she suspected that my cat had feline leukemia and Hyperthyroidism. She took blood work to confirm her diagnosis. Knowing this CAT was ill she still injected my sick cat with its usual vaccines. Less than one week later my cat lost the use of his back legs and 3 weeks later my beloved cat was put to sleep. I researched what went wrong and found from other vets that if your animal is sick and their little immune system is fighting an illness such as Leukemia and hyperthyroidism, etc., you never give them their vaccines until they recover from their illnesses. In other words....NEVER VACCINATE YOUR ANIMALS UNLESS THEY ARE 100% HEALTHY!! THIS WAS A LESSON I HAD TO LEARN THE HARD WAY ON MY OWN. I WISH MY VETERINARIAN KNEW THIS!! read more

I've been going to Pitman Animal Hospital since 2001 with our dogs and our rabbit. The past year or so I've had the wonderful opportunity to know Dr. Genevieve LaFerriere. She is super compassionate, very knowledgeable, and explains everything to me. My elderly dog recently had to have a battery of tests and Dr. LaFerriere explained everything and why she felt that specific tests should be done. She didn't want my family to have to spend money unnecessarily but I wanted to make sure my pooch was okay. She really helped to guide my husband and me on the care and medications we would need for our dog. We've had several phone calls back and forth about my dog's progress and I really can feel the compassion and love that Dr. LaFerriere has for her job. She's also been very helpful in explaining different things regarding our pet rabbit and the proper care for him. I love Dr. LaFerriere because of her amazing kindness! read more

My cat was very sick, I got an immediate appointment for him to be seen. I was met by a very friendly and kind vet tech. She said my cat appeared to be really sick by checking his mouth. Dr. Melissa Berg came in to see us and I was hysterical crying knowing my cat was suffering from something I might have prevented if I caught it on time. She checked his ears and he had severe jaundice, then she felt around his stomach area as spoke to me and felt a large mass and noticed how my cat winced in pain. She reassured me there is nothing I could of done to fix it like I tried, self diagnosing cats on the web by his symptoms force feeding him food and trying to get him to drink. Broken hearted over losing my kids and I gentle giant Conan. I knew the best thing for him was to stop his suffering and have him euthanized. Dr. Berg did not second guess that and though I am very sad now as my kids will be after school, Dr. Berg and her assistant vet tech were very kind and caring it made a very hard decision easier. I would recommend Dr. Melissa Berg and the Pitman Animal Hospital to everyone I meet. Great office staff too. read more

I rushed my beloved cat to them with a promise of caring for him for two days to see if there was improvment since he had been deblocked day before ,was told he was lfew hours later ..i was in Shopritethey called saying he needs to be put to sleep now ..i was so distrought and crying by this i couldnt think right said no then he said do you want me to revive him... Iwas about to faint they got me so upset. I should have went right there and got him... That was so wrong!! They never gave him a chance and caused me great grief and turmoil to where i couldnt think right ...i should take them to court for killing my beloved Leroy... When i called back Dr Olson said he was taking fliuds and looking around before that and urinating,what they did was a nitemare ...they did this over phone so i could not see that he was doing better...Im going to report them to sociaty for protection of animals!!I cant even sleep at night knowing i should have went there and got him and took him to his reguler vet. read more

We have been coming to Pitman Animal Hospital for over 20 years. Just recently, our English bulldog had a complicated surgery done by Dr. Collada. After a lot of care and doing what we could for him, our dog had to be put to sleep. Dr. Collada is the most compassionate and caring veterinarian we've ever dealt with. He is very thorough and takes the time to explain everything and answer all of your questions. I'm always very happy with the vet techs as well, they've shown our pets a lot of love. We were not clients, but Pitman Animal Hospital took my dog immediately when we were faced with an emergency. My regular vet was "booked solid until Monday." Everyone from the receptionist to the Vet Tech to the Doctors were so incrediable to us and our dog the entire time. We received several updates throughout the day on his progress. We did have to say goodbye to our precious dog, but even through that process the staff remained empathetic and sincere. Just today we recieved a beautful card from the staff with messages from the Vet Techs and Doctors! We are now going to be switching from our old vet to Pitman Animal Hospital for our other pets. read more
