When I received the call from Dr Hosier after surgery she said they removed the tumor but found another. They aspirated that tumor and found that it was a mast cell tumor. She never told me that meant it was cancer. When I picked him up and received written instructions I was told that he got a shot of benedryl because aspirating the tumor could cause it to granulate releasing histamines. That was all I was told nothing was explained. When I called because my dog was not walking still the next day and could not stand they blamed me for giving him gabentin which I was instructed to do in writing. I told them my dog had diarrhea was vomiting and would not eat. They suggested stopping the novox and offering chicken and rice diet. I did that then had to rush him to the hospital on Sunday because his face was swollen. Red Bank animal hospital explained that he had cancer, that his symptoms were from degranulation. They had to give him another benedryl shot and put him on benedryl meds. They told me to follow up with my vet immediately I called Monday they said I could wait until his appt Sat to get his stitches out. Went for the appointment it was obvious Dr Hosier never read the report. She prescribed him a bunch of new meds including steroids to try and get him to eat. She said she would check in, in two days. She never checked in and also forgot to removed two stitches from his chest. I called to speak with the owner Dr Masso on three occasions. They would tell me she would call back. She never did. Once the receptionist even told me the matter was closed in their system. I am so disappointed. I was calm and polite with every call. I said I didn't want Dr Hosier in trouble but I think the owner should know when so many mistakes are made. I have an appointment with a specialty surgeon soon but I'm sad that I now have to find a new vet because either Dr Masso could not spare five minutes of her time or the office, Jen, Tori and Dr Hosier, are hiding what happened. At the very least you could have told me it was cancer and know the signs of degranulation.

I tried for almost 2 weeks to get a refill of medicines for my dog who has a chronic condition. They kept saying that it had to be doctor approved, which I understand and it was also just before the holiday. However, 2 weeks is too long for my pet to go without her protocol. She began to have symptoms that had been relieved by the medications I could not get for her. Then they told me I had to get a script and take it to a regular pharmacy because they no longer gave out the medicine. That's fine but after 2 weeks I still had not received a script, a phone call or anything. I called for the 3rd or 4th time, in the span of 2 weeks, on the Friday after New Year's day and complained. I was upset and the receptionist asked me if I wanted to speak to her Superior, because she was new and didn't know all the answers yet. She was very nice and it wasn't her fault. I said yes, So she put me through to the supervisor. I explained to her what had happened and what I was told three different times , in the space of 2 weeks trying to get my dog's meds refilled. She was able to get all of my dogs meds approved. It turns out that here is only one medication that I need to really have a script for but I can also pick up the rest, if I choose, from the pharmacy. I chose the latter because that would be easiest for me. Now we will wait and see if they call the scripts into the pharmacy. I am so frustrated right now. The particular vet, in that practice , that I use for my dog, is fantastic. However, she happened to be away on vacation and that's great but the animal hospital should have known to have another vet approve it. I just don't get why they couldn't get another one to approve it sooner then today when I finally called and vehemently complained. I just hope they remember to call everything into the regular pharmacy, today. So I won't be getting her medicines probably until tomorrow. Maybe even Monday. It's just too much. Since Winslow animal hospital became part of the conglomerate VCA, it is just like dealing with the medical conglomerates for human beings. You can't get anything you need in a timely manner. My roommate drove us to this location while I was trying to provide CPR. She passed away in the car enroute. When I got to the front desk they told me simply that there was nothing that would do and that in order to keep guests calm I was to go to their back entrance and a nurse would come and collect the body. When the nurse arrived at the vehicle she was a petite lady upon looking at my 70 pound dog she quickly says "oh she's to big for me I'll need you to carry her in". I bring my dog through the back door in to what appears to be a broom closet. The nurse then grabs a black trash bag and asks me to place my dog in the bag while she held it open. While I'm still holding my deceased dog in a black trash bag she begins clearly clutter from the top of what would be the freezer I would now be placing my dog in. She patted my shoulder and said "sorry you had to do this but you can't stay back here you can back around through the front to decide what do to do with her body". Truly this is most disgusting and traumatizing thing I have EVER had to endure. The lack of professionalism and sympathy deeply disturbs me and it's been 4 years. Below I'll attach a picture of the beautiful soul that I had to place in a trash bag. And she's still not the same and this happened on August 30. She's been isolating and depressed. I feel so bad that I sent her to this horrible be closed and their should have her license taken away. The waiting area was bright, clean and had cute little things to buy like tee shirts and compact mini poopie bags in dog shaped holders. We definitely found ourselves a new vet :)
