    Lunch special
    Candace Y.

Tried the lunch special 2-item mini pizza or sandwich with a salad and a soft drink from the fountain...all for $9.99. Good food for $10! I chose the meatball sandwich and my companion picked the Italian sandwich. Both were quite tasty. Not greasy. The bread was good. No complaints. The salad ingredients were fresh. That's something that you don't always get at pizza places. If your needs are a workday lunch or lunch on the go, the amount is perfect and very tasty. On workdays, you don't want to eat so much that you're too full to be productive afterwards. Service was prompt and friendly. The staff check in on us a couple of times during our meal to make sure we weren't in need of anything. The space is large. There's a main dining room that can seat a large number of people. On the other side of the building in a pub beer bar with items on tap. This place would be great for a meetup group gathering. Note: place is plastic, only. No cash. My only disappointment is that they have a Deschutes Brewery sign, but nothing on tap (or in can or bottle) from Deschutes. (Deschutes is my favorite NW brewery, so I was initially excited.)

While my friend was getting her hair cut a few doors down, I decided to come into Cool River Pizza to get our lunch started. I have never been to Cool River Pizza and I have always heard how good it was. So today was the day! I walked in and talked with Max, who was working in the front. He greeted me and showed me the menu. I told him what kind of Pizza I was craving (chicken) and he recommended their Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza. I also decided to add on the cheesy bread sticks. Then, Max went to the kitchen to make our Pizza and bread sticks. I stepped back and checked out their layout. CRP was in a little bit of a transition and under new ownership. I'm not sure what the layout was before, but it was coming together nicely. I found out they changed the location of the beer taps so that customers were able to see them and I thought that was amazing. I couldn't imagine choosing a beer and the taps be in a different spot. There are canned beer available in a refrigerator against the wall. I went and got my friend from her haircut and she was excited about having pizza and to have a beer on tap! Max could see us from the kitchen and we each ordered a beer. Igot the Belching Beaver's Phantom's Bride and my friend got the Modelo Especial. While we waited for our food, we got the pleasure of speaking to Russell, the new owner. It was exciting to know some of his plans, and what color he was going to paint on the walls. I am very excited to come back and see it finished! It's looking good so far! When our Pizza and bread sticks arrived, it looked so delicious! It was hot! Max also provided us with ranch, cheese and peppers. The cheese pull was beautiful! Absolutely gorgeous! He did an amazing job on our lunch! It was very very delicious! The pizza was thicker than a regular crust, to where you take a bite and your teeth sink into all those good toppings. The cheese bread was warm and soft. For me, the cheese bread needed a little more flavor, so I requested a side of garlic butter... I think that it was the garlic butter that used on the edge of the pizza. Perfecto! Overall, we had an amazing experience! Delicious pizza and cheesy bread! Perfect customer service! We can't wait to come back and try more menu items!

These sandwiches are fire in the booth! The buffalo chicken and the meatball *chefs kiss* Didn't realize they had game night here, cool vibe. Clean and modern, staff is cool.

Cool River Pizza is located in The Plaza at Stanford Ranch shopping center, in Rocklin, CA.

Cool River Pizza and Taphouse, located in Rocklin, CA, has been serving delicious pizza and more to pizza lovers all over western Placer County, located in the greater Sacramento area. The restaurant is locally owned and operated, is an operation unique to Rocklin. We who live in the Gold Country certainly are fortunate to have this fine restaurant as part of our community! As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the menu on the brick wall, which lists all of the appetizers, pizza, sandwiches and more. There is something for every taste on the menu! Like most restaurants, to-go orders are a big business, and there is a printed menu you can take home with you, and order online or by phone from the comfort of your home or office. The menu is also listed the restaurant's website, and available to order. You'll be greeted at the counter by a friendly staff member who will take your order and make you feel at home. After making your selection - and paying for it - you simply seat yourself at any open table, and when your order is ready, it will be brought to you with a smile. The restaurant is divided into two spacious dining rooms, separated by the kitchen and order counter, and one of them offers a small bar, where I decided to enjoy my pizza and beer. There is an event room, separated by a partition, reserved for special events. There are television monitors on the walls, but they weren't in use during the time of my visit. There is also a shaded patio for outside dining, when the weather permits. From the top of the "Cool Creations" section of the menu, I went with a Mini-size "Mighty Gorge" pizza. A mini 8" pizza makes the perfect size of lunch for me, and it leaves room for dinner later. For the crust, I went with "Original Hand-tossed," which is standard, and my favorite type of crust. Condiments on the "Mighty Gorge" include pepperoni, mushroom, bell peppers, ham, olives, onions, ground beef, sausage and salami. Yes, it's all on the pizza, which makes "Mighty Gorge" an amazing pizza. The crust was made in-house, from scratch, and it was fresh, lightly buttered and baked to perfection. The foundation of a superior pizza is a delicious crust, and Chef Trish "nailed" it, as the crust was delicious, crusty, and held together well. The meat was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were fresh, and like the meat, were cooked perfectly. The meat-to-vegetable ratio was perfect, making this a well-balanced pizza, which offered a cornucopia of flavors. Sauce was "Cool River Red," and the cheese was Mozzarella, which made this a truly delicious pizza. One bite into this delicious pizza transported me to pizza heaven, as this was simply a delicious pizza any way you look at it. Chef Trish and Cool River Pizza know how to create a superior pizza! For over a quarter century, Cool River Pizza has been serving delicious pizza, sandwiches, salads and more, and all items on the menu are served with a friendly smile. Pizza lovers, you've found the perfect pizza restaurant, for fantastic Gold Country dining! For amazing pizza and a lot more, served with friendly hospitality, stop by Cool River Pizza and Taphouse, located in Rocklin, CA. Cheers!

Utterly flat and tasteless. The calzone is so bland; they forgot to add any seasoning.

I heard this pizza place great pizza and calzones instead I found a sad experience. It's difficult finding legitimate awesome pizza places but I have to say you're better off going to the regular pizza chains instead of coming here.

Bought a Groupon and greatly enjoyed my calzone! Perfect crispy crust, delicious toppings, great service. Nice ambiance! I'll be back for sure

Private Event Birthday Decor at CRP Rocklin

An Absolutely Incredible Private Event Experience at CRP Rocklin! We were struggling to find a venue that could comfortably host a 100-person party when we stumbled across CRP Rocklin listed as an event space on Yelp. I noticed photos of a baby shower held there and decided to call -- and that was the best decision we could've made! From my very first conversation with Russell, the owner, I knew we were in good hands. He was so warm, welcoming, and genuinely excited to host our event. That same evening, he met us at the restaurant, gave us a full tour, shared ideas from previous events, and encouraged us to customize the space however we wanted. He even asked for our input as they were refurnishing the restaurant under new ownership -- truly above and beyond! As we got closer to the event, we also worked with Max, the general manager, who was equally amazing. Both Russell and Max were hands-on every step of the way -- from planning logistics to helping us set up. The night before the party, they let us come in a couple hours before closing to set up our photo backdrop and balloons. Russell literally climbed up a ladder to help hang our LED disco lights! The next morning, Max came in early to give us extra time to finish decorating before opening. Their flexibility, enthusiasm, and "whatever you need" attitude made everything stress-free. We did a full restaurant buyout, and even though they kept takeout and delivery open, it didn't interfere with our event at all. They had clear signage and managed everything seamlessly. The best part -- all we had to meet was a minimum food and drink spend, with no additional venue fee. The value we received was incredible, and the extra setup time they gave us was a total lifesaver. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the food, the space, and the staff. So many people told us they'd love to host their own events there after seeing how beautiful and well-run everything was. We are so grateful to Russell, Max, and the entire CRP Rocklin team -- you made our celebration unforgettable. Thank you for your kindness, flexibility, and all the personal touches that made the night so special. We will absolutely be back -- CRP Rocklin is our go-to event venue from now on!

    Awesome happy hour menu!

Staff was amazing. Lily was very helpful and patient with our long order and may requests. Pizza was fantastic. Very cheesy and great crust! Many beers on tap to choose. Can't beat the ambiance. One side had live music (Friday night). Other side had nice bar seating. Great outdoor patio. Highly recommend!

I spent about 7 minutes at the counter unsure if I had actually ordered or not because the interaction was so bizarre and then suddenly my food showed up... There was only one other person in the place, but our drinks took another 10 minutes after we had our food and we ordered the drinks first. Food was decent. I think maybe the ratios were off when it came to the cracker/bread/chips vs. the dips themselves. We were left with just piles of crackers, bread and chips but the dips and cheese all gone, which was odd. (But I suppose people complain there aren't enough crackers or chips sometimes?) I loved the idea of all the fermented beverages and foods and they were tasty but also not super memorable. Maybe just paired with the super weird service made the food more forgettable? I loved the almonds and the whipped ricotta. I guess I would give it another try, but I'm not chomping at the bit to go back at all.

I started with the chicken tortilla soup, which was creamy and flavorful with avocado, cilantro, and crispy tortilla strips on top. I really enjoyed that and would order it again. For dinner, I ordered the bone-in ribeye medium rare with mashed potatoes and broccolini. The steak was cooked correctly and had nice grill marks, but it was pretty light on seasoning. I personally like at least a little salt and pepper on my steak, and once I added some myself, it made a big difference. The broccolini could have been better as well. It didn't have much flavor and I would have preferred it cooked a little longer. The mashed potatoes were creamy and paired well with the steak. Overall, the portions were generous and the food was good, but a little more seasoning and attention to the vegetables would have made the meal much better. Still a solid 4-star experience, and there are plenty of other menu items I'd come back to try. Service was great!

My first call went unanswered, and there wasn't an answering service. On my second call, I was able to leave a voicemail. When I called Pain Killers, a kind woman answered within two rings. I explained that I was looking for a venue to host a memorial gathering. She let me know that the person who could best assist me wasn't available but offered to take my number and have them return my call. Within 30 minutes, Austin called me back. We discussed what we were looking for, and as you can imagine, it's not an easy conversation to have with someone you've never met. From the very beginning, Austin's kindness and compassion stood out. His exact words were, "We want to be here for you during this difficult time." Those weren't just words--I could genuinely feel his sincerity, not only during that phone call but in every text message we exchanged over the following week. Each time I reached out, I'd say, "Ok, Austin, last question," only to think of another one shortly afterward. No matter how many times I contacted him, he remained patient, understanding, and accommodating. He answered every question, responded promptly, and never once made me feel like I was asking too much. In the end, it was decided to keep the entire day's gathering at a church rather than the mortuary, so we didn't end up going to Pain Killers. Even so, I wanted to recognize Austin for the exceptional level of customer service and genuine compassion he showed during one of the most difficult times. The next time I'm in the Rocklin area, I plan to stop by, say hello to Austin, and make sure to give Pain Killers some well-deserved business. Thank you, Austin, for reminding me that kindness and empathy still go a long way.

The whole idea of Tap Houses really does appeal to me…read more I love being able to just grab a glass and seeing all the beers on the wall and picking what I want and how much I want. The people who run Waymaker Brewing in Roseville are doing this at the highest level. I've been to this location a few times for different events and every time a wonderful time was had. So as far as the beers go they have around 40 different beers on tap and also they have 10 wines on tap as well. So exactly how it works is this- When you walk in you give them a credit/debit card-then they give you a wristband-next you grab a glass and go pick your beer or wine and you get charged by the ounce you actually pour rather than by the glass size. Then at the end of the visit, you turn in your wristbands and you get charged whatever it is you poured in total for the visit-I love the entire concept. It's a great way to be able to try many types of beer instead of just a few big beers. Now let's talk about the elephant in the room for Waymaker. The thing that makes this place unique is they have 6 golf simulators a person can rent depending on day and time anywhere from $35-$60 an hour and up to 6 people can play on the simulator at one time. On these simulators there are more than 200 virtual courses available. It's a crazy amount of fun for golfers of all skill levels There is also a hand roll sushi bar inside called Fire Fish where one can order sushi-hand rolls-flatbreads or various small plates. It really is an amazing place. They also have a massive big screen in the back that is furnished with comfortable couches and chairs in case one wants to just hangout and watch whatever live sporting event is happening that visit. Let's see my last few visits I've gone with my son and we played a round of golf at Pebble Beach on the simulator. I've gone to a birthday party for my boss and we had 2 simulators rented and we ate sushi rolls and flatbread while drinking a lot of beer. I've gone to do after work drinks with a friend while watching NBA playoff basketball. Visits to Waymaker can be so many things but I can say for sure every visit will be fun. So if you find yourself out in Roseville and want to try something a little different-head on out to Waymaker Brewing, it really is a great time. PS. Parking is a breeze as they share a big lot with lots of spaces with other businesses.

We decided to check out Waymaker on Labor Day (9/7/26 1:30-3:30) since it seemed TopGolf was extra…read morebusy. Me and my husband are novice golfers and thought it'd be fun for practice and with our family (took our 7yo and MIL). Pros: Very cool concept. Loved that we could practice our swings, use different clubs, and be able to see all of our specs. Loved the idea that they had sushi cause it's our kids favorite. And loved that they had not just beers, but a good variety of seltzers, ciders and even wine on tap! Cons: VERY limited food menu. What they had listed on their website was NOT what they had available for purchase. There were only maybe 10 food items to choose from, and very high priced for what it was. A couple of hand rolls (1 each for $8-$10), Poke Nachos (on tortilla chips - big no no! - use wonton chips!) for $20 (price ok since you got a few small pieces of fish per chip, but they skimped by using tortilla chips, on both price and flavor! And they had 3-4 sushi rolls. Their "special" roll being $20 alone. There wasn't really anything special about it. Definitely not worth $20!! The fish tasted fresh, but so does the local sushi place down the street with massive rolls, full of fish, for $16-18/roll. So don't expect much from the food. I went to ask the guy at the front of if it was user error on the mobile app... he said that they run out of food and when that happens, they just take it off the menu. LAME! Put a disclaimer on your website! Additionally, the guy at the front desk (upon check in) - unhelpful! He asked us if it was our first time, which it was. He set us up and told us if we had questions to just come ask. We did, and each time he seemed like it was more of an annoyance that we were taking him away from his phone time (that he was on every time I went to ask a question). And instead of explaining to us how things work, and how to maneuver through the screens and set things up, he just did what we asked/needed without showing us so we could never fix it or do it ourselves. We figured some things out on our own, but if you have newbies, it would be worth showing them how to use the system so it doesn't take a ton of our paid for time (at $50/hour) to figure things out. Such a waste and makes the cost to worth ratio deteriorate very quickly. So overall, would we go back. Maybe. Definitely not with our kid (which makes it more rare that we'd return). I like to give everything a second try. But for the cost, it would take some convincing and a MUCH better second experience for me to ever go back or recommend this place to friends.
