Someone on the volleyball team was already familiar with this place hosting group events, though this was my first time here (and also my first visit since the new name and ownership change). It's a great room for team events. They also have a well-organized ordering system: you can place your order in advance, link it to your team via a button at checkout, pay ahead of time, and set a pickup time. The staff was friendly and clearly experienced with large groups. Max especially stood out, he introduced himself, welcomed us, and encouraged us to check in under our order name on arrival so everything could come out around the same time. That system actually works really well. At other team events we've been to, food often comes out at different times, with long delays between orders, which makes group meals feel scattered and awkward. Here, everything was coordinated much more smoothly. We ordered a pepperoni, jalapeño, and red onion pizza on a cauliflower crust (12" medium only). It worked for two people, though not inexpensive, coming in at just under $30, including a $3 upcharge for the cauliflower crust. It's definitely more cost-effective to go with one of their preset pizzas, since individual toppings on a build-your-own, were nearly $3 each. They also have a solid alcohol selection if that's your thing. One downside: the water cups were noticeably sticky, almost like residue hadn't been fully washed off, which wasn't pleasant. read more

I chose the meatball sandwich and my companion picked the Italian sandwich. Both were quite tasty. Not greasy. The bread was good. No complaints. The salad ingredients were fresh. That's something that you don't always get at pizza places. If your needs are a workday lunch or lunch on the go, the amount is perfect and very tasty. On workdays, you don't want to eat so much that you're too full to be productive afterwards. Service was prompt and friendly. The staff check in on us a couple of times during our meal to make sure we weren't in need of anything. The space is large. There's a main dining room that can seat a large number of people. On the other side of the building in a pub beer bar with items on tap. This place would be great for a meetup group gathering. Note: place is plastic, only. No cash. My only disappointment is that they have a Deschutes Brewery sign, but nothing on tap (or in can or bottle) from Deschutes. While my friend was getting her hair cut a few doors down, I decided to come into Cool River Pizza to get our lunch started. I have never been to Cool River Pizza and I have always heard how good it was. So today was the day! I walked in and talked with Max, who was working in the front. He greeted me and showed me the menu. I told him what kind of Pizza I was craving (chicken) and he recommended their Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza. I also decided to add on the cheesy bread sticks. Then, Max went to the kitchen to make our Pizza and bread sticks. I stepped back and checked out their layout. CRP was in a little bit of a transition and under new ownership. I'm not sure what the layout was before, but it was coming together nicely. I found out they changed the location of the beer taps so that customers were able to see them and I thought that was amazing. I couldn't imagine choosing a beer and the taps be in a different spot. There are canned beer available in a refrigerator against the wall. I went and got my friend from her haircut and she was excited about having pizza and to have a beer on tap! Max could see us from the kitchen and we each ordered a beer. Igot the Belching Beaver's Phantom's Bride and my friend got the Modelo Especial. While we waited for our food, we got the pleasure of speaking to Russell, the new owner. It was exciting to know some of his plans, and what color he was going to paint on the walls. I am very excited to come back and see it finished! It's looking good so far! When our Pizza and bread sticks arrived, it looked so delicious! It was hot! Max also provided us with ranch, cheese and peppers. The cheese pull was beautiful! Absolutely gorgeous! He did an amazing job on our lunch! It was very very delicious! Since this is close to us, we've been going to this location since it first became a pizza place many many years ago and have experienced all the changes in pizza throughout the various owners. While I like what they've done to elevate the place, and the menu hasn't really changed, something has changed in the pizza itself that now makes it just mid. We got three pizzas and we think the dough may have changed, it's not as fluffy and flavorful and there wasn't as much sauce on the pizzas. Still decent tasting pizzas, maybe we just have to get used to the new recipe. It just doesn't grab us like it used to. Cool River Pizza and Taphouse, located in Rocklin, CA, has been serving delicious pizza and more to pizza lovers all over western Placer County, located in the greater Sacramento area. The restaurant is locally owned and operated, is an operation unique to Rocklin. We who live in the Gold Country certainly are fortunate to have this fine restaurant as part of our community! As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the menu on the brick wall, which lists all of the appetizers, pizza, sandwiches and more. There is something for every taste on the menu! Like most restaurants, to-go orders are a big business, and there is a printed menu you can take home with you, and order online or by phone from the comfort of your home or office. The menu is also listed the restaurant's website, and available to order. You'll be greeted at the counter by a friendly staff member who will take your order and make you feel at home. After making your selection - and paying for it - you simply seat yourself at any open table, and when your order is ready, it will be brought to you with a smile. The restaurant is divided into two spacious dining rooms, separated by the kitchen and order counter, and one of them offers a small bar, where I decided to enjoy my pizza and beer. There is an event room, separated by a partition, reserved for special events. There are television monitors on the walls, but they weren't in use during the time of my visit. There is also a shaded patio for outside dining, when the weather permits. From the top of the "Cool Creations" section of the menu, I went with a Mini-size "Mighty Gorge" pizza. A mini 8" pizza makes the perfect size of lunch for me, and it leaves room for dinner later. For the crust, I went with "Original Hand-tossed," which is standard, and my favorite type of crust. Condiments on the "Mighty Gorge" include pepperoni, mushroom, bell peppers, ham, olives, onions, ground beef, sausage and salami. Yes, it's all on the pizza, which makes "Mighty Gorge" an amazing pizza. The crust was made in-house, from scratch, and it was fresh, lightly buttered and baked to perfection. The foundation of a superior pizza is a delicious crust, and Chef Trish "nailed" it, as the crust was delicious, crusty, and held together well. The meat was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were fresh, and like the meat, were cooked perfectly. The meat-to-vegetable ratio was perfect, making this a well-balanced pizza, which offered a cornucopia of flavors. Sauce was "Cool River Red," and the cheese was Mozzarella, which made this a truly delicious pizza. One bite into this delicious pizza transported me to pizza heaven, as this was simply a delicious pizza any way you look at it. Chef Trish and Cool River Pizza know how to create a superior pizza! I ordered to-go for 6pm. I got there and waited until 6:26pm. I was in a hurry so I left without checking and this is why I'm so opposed to tipping BEFORE I get my order. We tipped 20% because to that's usually deserved, but I regret it. Missing the extra marinara sauces I ordered. I did a half and half pizza and they didn't follow the order at all. Topping that were supposed to be on half was the wrong half and the some toppings that were supposed to be one the whole thing was only on half. An Absolutely Incredible Private Event Experience at CRP Rocklin! We were struggling to find a venue that could comfortably host a 100-person party when we stumbled across CRP Rocklin listed as an event space on Yelp. I noticed photos of a baby shower held there and decided to call -- and that was the best decision we could've made! From my very first conversation with Russell, the owner, I knew we were in good hands. He was so warm, welcoming, and genuinely excited to host our event. That same evening, he met us at the restaurant, gave us a full tour, shared ideas from previous events, and encouraged us to customize the space however we wanted. He even asked for our input as they were refurnishing the restaurant under new ownership -- truly above and beyond! As we got closer to the event, we also worked with Max, the general manager, who was equally amazing. Both Russell and Max were hands-on every step of the way -- from planning logistics to helping us set up. The night before the party, they let us come in a couple hours before closing to set up our photo backdrop and balloons. Russell literally climbed up a ladder to help hang our LED disco lights! The next morning, Max came in early to give us extra time to finish decorating before opening. Their flexibility, enthusiasm, and "whatever you need" attitude made everything stress-free. We did a full restaurant buyout, and even though they kept takeout and delivery open, it didn't interfere with our event at all. They had clear signage and managed everything seamlessly. The best part -- all we had to meet was a minimum food and drink spend, with no additional venue fee. The value we received was incredible, and the extra setup time they gave us was a total lifesaver. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the food, the space, and the staff. So many people told us they'd love to host their own events there after seeing how beautiful and well-run everything was. We are so grateful to Russell, Max, and the entire CRP Rocklin team -- you made our celebration unforgettable. Just an update after about 13 years. Cool River Pizza is still to this day one of my favorite pizza places. The Buffalo River has always been my go to. My wife and I were up at the Galleria Mall and needed to grab something for dinner. Cool River is just up the street. We get there and my heart dropped. It was about 730 on Saturday and the parking lot was completely empty. We park and my wife checks the door to make sure they are open. Crisis averted, still open. We walk in to a completely empty restaurant that isn't giving me good vibes for future visits. The lone employee acknowledged us promptly and takes our order and we sit at a table. 2 other employees arrive shortly, possibly from a break and we get our order delivered to enjoy the food and the place to ourselves. During our time there, at least 4-5 customers come in and pick up their takeout orders. Im hoping the next time im in the area during mealtime, Cool River is still around. On another note, Reviews are meant to help a business improve, providing poopie reviews with little to no content does absolutely nothing for a business. My partner and I walked in and were the only people in the building, the interaction at the front counter was exceptionally awkward from the start, but we still gave it a try. we ordered a salad and calzone and went to sit down. The salad arrived and was topped with pizza ingredients on salad so whole pepperoni's and other pizza meat unsliced sitting on top of the bowl. we tried it and the greens were fresh however the dressing was bitter and the meat tasted off. The calzone arrived and it immediately smelled burned although it was only a bit dark. I cut it open and it was cold in the middle with unmelted cheese and raw veggies. we ended up leaving with no tip. I don't recommend this place based on our experience but again maybe it was just an off day. We will not return. read more
