I was tasked with finding a location in the Rocklin area to host a memorial gathering. Since I don't live nearby, I turned to Yelp and started calling places close to the mortuary where our family would be gathering. Pain Killers was the third place on my list. My first call went unanswered, and there wasn't an answering service. On my second call, I was able to leave a voicemail. When I called Pain Killers, a kind woman answered within two rings. I explained that I was looking for a venue to host a memorial gathering. She let me know that the person who could best assist me wasn't available but offered to take my number and have them return my call. Within 30 minutes, Austin called me back. We discussed what we were looking for, and as you can imagine, it's not an easy conversation to have with someone you've never met. From the very beginning, Austin's kindness and compassion stood out. His exact words were, "We want to be here for you during this difficult time." Those weren't just words--I could genuinely feel his sincerity, not only during that phone call but in every text message we exchanged over the following week. Each time I reached out, I'd say, "Ok, Austin, last question," only to think of another one shortly afterward. No matter how many times I contacted him, he remained patient, understanding, and accommodating. He answered every question, responded promptly, and never once made me feel like I was asking too much. In the end, it was decided to keep the entire day's gathering at a church rather than the mortuary, so we didn't end up going to Pain Killers. Even so, I wanted to recognize Austin for the exceptional level of customer service and genuine compassion he showed during one of the most difficult times. The next time I'm in the Rocklin area, I plan to stop by, say hello to Austin, and make sure to give Pain Killers some well-deserved business. Response to owner feedback- Weird you can tell what day I was there. That food was carried to my truck and opened so I could give an authentic picture. I do hope you recently cleaned the patio since I did visit a few weeks ago. I wish you the best of luck. Just a tip on future responses to reviews. You always seem to have an "answer" . Sometimes you just need to chalk it up to a bad day, experience, or something to grow from. You show a pattern which comes off as disingenuous. Anybody who reads your other responses will see its deflection. Sometimes a "Thanks for your review, we identified a few items to learn from and hopefully a future chance at your business will be better". Service was horrible. Sunday afternoon around 4 pm. 1 bartender, 1 patron at bar, 2 establishment based folks "meeting" at a high top in the bar area. Bartender literally told me after we received our drinks that "if she got bored, she would come check on us in the patio" as she moved over to eat her salad (at the bar) and chat with the 1 patron. The patio is filthy. Please pressure wash the outside and maybe wash the furniture covers outside. I mean it gives off the grunge downtown or extremely busy college bar scene but in Rocklin, Ca which is about as grunge as the Hamptons. The menu has lined out times, rather than update the paper document. Food looked standard pub fair, nothing flashy, but didn't have the quality of the old Mac and cheeses Bone Shakers use to provide. Decor is pretty much Bone Shakers, no real heart or specialization, beyond adding the grunge feel. I ordered a specialty fry with my first drink. As I was wrapping up my 3rd drink, I cancelled the order, and proceeded to close out. One of the establishment "gentleman" let me know the food was coming out. I said "at this point, No Thank You". They did offer the food to me at no charge 5 minutes later as I finished my drink outside. It weighed about 10 lbs and was not appetizing looking. You can be the judge. I came here for a little nostalgia and to see how the place had grown since I had been there some years ago. I can check it off my follow up list. read more

I discovered Painkillers on Yelp after hearing great reviews from the local community, and I'm glad I stopped in. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a friendly smile by bartender Ava, who provided excellent customer service. Ava took the time to recommend an IPA since I'm not very familiar with them, and the suggestion was spot on. The atmosphere was welcoming, the conversation was friendly, and you could really feel the sense of community. One thing that stood out to me was how dog friendly Painkillers is. Pretty fun local watering hole for the Rocklin community. Seems like a popular spot. I dropped in on a Friday evening and plenty of people were on the patio. Some smoking cigars, others holding drinks, but all wearing smiles. The bartenders here were super friendly and took great care of us until the end. I lost count of all the beers on tap. Tried a new to me Italian lager called Peroni. It was crisp and light. Then went back to my usual Coors light and 805. Food took a little while to get out but that fave my friend and I more time to drink and conversate. The mutha Cluckin sliders were decent. Nothing spectacular but great bar food! Took the kids to see their favorite cartoon character "Bluey" today. I had no idea this place is a pub. Shocked to see kids in a pub. Who thought it was a good idea to host a dress up cartoon character meet & greet for kids in a pub. Odd to see kids sitting up at the bar on a bar stool. There are two sides one that has the bar serving drinks and the other with table and kind of a stage. They scheduled our reserved table on the side of the bar. We had to get up and go over to bluey. Bluey never visited the side with maybe 6 teserved tables with children. The original time was 12:30p but changed to 11a. Some people didn't get that message and bluey had already left by the time they arrived. We ordered 3 sandwiches, wings & fries. We were told it would be 30 minutes. It ended up being 1 hour. The expectation was the food would be delicious after such a wait. The fries were cold, hollow, and so hard, I was fearful I might break a tooth. Server, said we were out of our regular fries, we got these from Door Dash then fried them. The sandwiches looked good, but were terrible! Damn we were so hungry! The wings were a low pass. When you order food here you have to pay right then. $130 with a tip. When the food is bad at least you have fries. These fries were the worst in the United States. I didn't have the heart to tell the waitress how bad the food was. I did tell her about the cold, hollow, fried hard fries that everyone paid extra for. She was shocked but never offered a refund. The food was amazing the beer is good, but worst service at a restaurant I have had in years. Four people at the bar a very slow night and the bar tender last night acted like she was annoyed. Apparently checking on customers here isn't a thing, you order in one spot. She was more busy looking at her phone than helping customers and messed up our food order too. There was probably two food orders in and you aren't going to check or keep track. Guessing this place will be out of business soon with the horrible customer service. Went here for an Office-themed trivia night and I genuinely don't understand how this place manages to be both expensive and completely disorganized at the same time. From the start, everything felt chaotic and poorly managed. Trivia started late, service was inconsistent, and basic things like plates and items we ordered with our food had to be asked for multiple times. Nothing about the experience felt smooth or even slightly put together. The food was honestly the biggest letdown for the price. It didn't match the cost at all, and it felt like quality just wasn't a priority. Even simple things like condiments were inconsistent, which just added to the overall sense that there's no real attention to detail happening in the kitchen. Customer service made everything worse instead of better. Trying to get clarification on a charge afterward turned into a frustrating, dismissive interaction that felt unnecessarily difficult over a very simple question. It's hard to feel like a valued customer when even basic communication is handled poorly. The atmosphere also missed the mark, what was supposed to be a fun themed night ended up feeling awkward and poorly executed, like the staff didn't really want to be there and the guests were just in the way. (A kahoot game that started an hour late btw) Long story short, the pizza tasted like SpaghettiOs, we weren't greeted or given any actual greeting ever, even at the bar, the dude on the mic kept saying, retard retard retard like it was his word of the day and couldn't say any actual joke for the life of him (so weird and uncomfortable btw like hi?) It was a mess. I was charged $100 for two awful pizzas in a picture of beer, (that was also mid mind you), I tipped 20%, took home the leftovers, which there was plenty of by the way because the food tasted like a lean cuisine, and we still left with a good attitude because I wasn't trying to be negative and wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt. Upon realizing this extravagant charge the next day for the pathetic excuse of a "dinner", I politely called back, asking for (and I quote), a "ballpark estimate price on a pitcher of beer". The middle aged sad immediately gave me some Snark and sassy reply like shit was funny. She asked "anything else??" I went... I guess not? Every ranch cup has a completely different taste (pretty sure they gave us half regular ranch and half PICKLE ranch hi it was rancid! Came in for live music night and ended up staying way longer than planned (no regrets). The vibe was great, the crowd was into it, and Jameson Roads absolutely nailed it. The energy in the room was contagious, the staff kept things moving, and it felt like everyone there was just having a genuinely good time. This is honestly one of my favorite places, I walk inside and I'm always welcomed whether it's for kareoke or for poker this place is literally a second home. If you know me you know painkillers and you know it's a place for the community to come together. Ava the bartender for kareoke is my absolute queen she runs that bar like no other always making sure everyone has a drink in hand and the next song comes on and the best thing about it, no matter if your good at singing or not you will be supported. Summer on Mondays takes care of poker night like a badass, with almost 3 tables every week she makes sure all of us have everything we need and more, keeping all the regulars entertained who arnt even playing, anyways besides the point this place truly is a home away from home and i recommend coming anytime read more

I went to the office trivia night with my girlfriend and some of her co workers, and we were having a pretty good night, we had 2 pizzas and a pitcher of beer. the service wasn't amazing (i understand it's a pub style bar and not a full service restaurant so i understand that people won't be coming to your table to serve you, so that's fine) The pizza was honestly awful, the sauce tasted like someone dumped a can of chef boyardee ravioli sauce onto some dough and called it a day. But overall we had fun, so if that was my only complaint this review would have been 3 or 4 stars. However, the next day we looked at the charge and it was $100! Now I understand inflation is high and everything is expensive now (a big mac is like $11 now) but that didn't seem right. So my girlfriend called and asked for a ballpark estimate on what they charge for a pitcher of beer, and the lady (who by the way answered very rudely) says "$20 dollars" So thn my girlfriend says to her very nicely "Ok well we got 2 pizzas and a pitcher of beer and it was $100 and we thought that seemed a little bit high in price, so we just wanted to call and make sure we didn't get over charged or if that's the price." The lady then pauses for a moment and, instead of asking what we got or telling us any of the prices, she just says "Is that it?" in a very passive aggressive tone. So my gf says "I guess not, I just wanted to know the prices" but before she could even finish her sentence, the lady hung up on her! So then my girlfriend calls back and says "Hi, I think we got disconnected, I was asking about the price of 2 pizzas and a pitcher of beer. Also what was your name?" and the lady just kept screaming "PAIN.... KILLERS, PAIN.... KILLERS" talking to my girlfriend like she was a child. So finally my gf had enough and she said "Hi I heard you the first time, please drop the attitude!" and then my gf hung up. I know everyone can have bad days, but she should not be answering the phone like that, and speaking to customers in such a rude way. All in all, with the price of the lousy food, the trivia announcer who kept saying slurs making everyone uncomfortable, and the rude worker who answered the phone, I will never be stepping foot in here again. Also, btw I checked the price of a pitcher of beer and 2 pizzas, and the pizzas are listed at $15-17 dollars on their doordash page. So either the prices aren't updated, or we were charged around $80 for 2 pizzas, which I think is completely outrageous. Also a pub that has a wide array of mainstream and craft beer on tap, a full service bar, AND a menu of your pub favorites, served in a "Cheers" atmosphere. If this sounds like your kind of pub, it all comes together at PainKillers Pub and Grub, located in Rocklin, CA. As you enter the pub, you'll notice the large bar, and the friendly staff will greet you with a smile. You'll love the sports bar atmosphere, thanks to the dynamic lighting and the many television monitors tuned to sports. On this early Saturday afternoon, there were a couple of college football games in progress, and the restaurant was tuned into the action. The restaurant/pub is divided into two dining rooms, with the bar separating the main dining room from the somewhat more intimate location that showcases a stage, where live music takes stage on most weekends. The beer menu is posted on the wall behind the beer taps, and features a mix of domestic, craft and local beers. The beer menu is ever changing, so the video display helps you keep up to date. Food menu is an "old school" printed menu. From the "Grub" section of the menu, I went with a "Pepperoni Pizza," and a pint of Busch Light beer. Such a perfect lunch! For starters, at $13.00, this pizza is the Bargain of Gold Country Dining, as was a "small" size pizza - about 13 inches in diameter - and not a "personal" size as I expecting. My host, Auston mentioned to me that he likes his diners to be satisfied. Oh yeah! The foundation of a delicious pizza begins with a quality crust, and my pizza didn't disappoint, as it was based on a freshly baked-to-perfection, golden brown crust. The crust was topped with flavorful pizza sauce, which added taste to the pizza, yet didn't overwhelm all of the goodness. Topping the sauce was a shredded blend of Italian cheese, fresh oregano, and thinly sliced pepperoni. Two cups of "House Ranch" dressing were provided on the side for great dipping. So... I dug in and dipped a slice into the dressing... oh my! Such an amazing pizza! The delicious crust was crispy on the outside, yet tender and juicy on the inside, and held together perfectly. With my first bite, I could taste the crust, sauce, cheese, oregano and pepperoni working together, with the warm pizza contrasted to a dip of the cool ranch dressing. The pizza was well-balanced, and had the perfect meat/cheese-to-crust ratio, which is crucial to make a quality pizza. The $3.00 pint of Busch Light beer - a special price this Labor Day weekend - served as an appetizer and the second pint made for a delicious dessert. The pizza I enjoyed today at PainKillers Pub and Grub was simply delicious! Calling all pizza lovers in west Placer County... this is YOUR restaurant to enjoy delicious pizza! We attended the lunch with Santa event recently. We had to wait over an hour for our pizzas for our kids and we had to follow up with the waitress since she did not come back and check on us nor give us on update on the food status. When I did follow up, another waitress was very rude, did not apologize for the fact that our kids had to wait over an hour, and watch all of the other families get their food first. When I asked for compensation for their mistakes, the waitress said she couldn't compensate us unless we decided to not get the pizza anymore. Typically I would not even ask for compensation, but the pizza they gave us was four skinny pieces of cheese pizza and that was $15. We had ordered 2 so for $30 we got 8 skinny slices, which would equate two regular slices of pizza. It could be they skimped us to just get us anything but the portion size was not it. The lack of empathy was not it, and I had reached out to Auston, the owner via instagram and via his email. He did not attempt to reach back out to me which is really unfortunate as a business owner that you do not look out for patrons that visit your business. Would not recommend. read more

It is a relatively small neighborhood place, which we love, so they don't have 10 wait staff running around to serve you, but these people hustle big time.
