Nevertheless, they saw the problem with birds building nests in the gutters. They suggested repairs and did it for no charge and cleaned out the bird nests. Re-installed windows and sliding glass door incorrectly installed by previous contractor. Rebuilt pressure treated wood deck with improved layout. Derrick's attention to detail and pride in his work translated to a solution that addressed all of my goals and helped me understand mistakes made by previous contractors. He spent hours reviewing options and brainstorming with me as more damage was uncovered and the scope had to expand as we went. I had an idea for angled steps and even though it's a bit complicated he took on the project and built some really cool stairs that make my deck unique. While JJ wasn't the lowest, they were the most comprehensive. For example, all of the other quotes quoted the shingles and work, but JJ Construction quoted shingles, tiles, gutters, and all hardware (new fans/vents/gutters). They are highly skilled. They did not rush the project (who wants a roofer who rushes?) and cleaned up every day. Communication was excellent. They installed Class 4 shingles, which lowered my home owners insurance by 20%. Instead, my sister's roof began leaking within 9 months after the tear-off and re-roof. Not only that it was not a small leak and it was not in one spot. It continued to get worse to the point that she contacted Oury to come out and assess and repair her roof. They sent their son, who looked around on the roof. He made a telling comment..."it looks like your flashing is old and damaged.". I was there with her when he made that comment and I assume that since the roof began to leak so badly and so quickly after it was finished that there was very shoddy workmanship and that they did not replace the flashing when they originally did the re-roof. The son applied some caulk around my sister's dormers. Of course, it continued to leak in her house every time it rained. She finally contacted their office and told them that she was unsatisfied with the quality of their work and nicely asked that they repair her roof as well as pay for the damage to her drywall ceilings in both her living and dining rooms. They immediately "lawyered up". "We don't know anything...it's in our insurance company's hands and our lawyer's hands." All she wanted them to do what a stand-up company would do. Admit their error, and re-do her roof. Instead, she never ever got a response from them or their lawyer despite her repeated followups. Ultimately, she had to go to another roofing company, Apex Roofing (who we would highly recommend) and pay AGAIN to have her roof re-roofed just two years after Oury did their poor job. PLEASE!!
