I came across Spandikow & Son Roofing based on a Yelp search when I was in need of a roofing company to help me with an ice dam/apparent roof leak issue this winter. They were backlogged with clients needing similar help, so my request was a bit further down on their job list. But when they got to my request they were diligent in following up with me to see if I still was in need of help (which I was). I was very impressed with their timeliness in getting someone out to provide an estimate of repair. As a first time homeowner, I was a bit worried about what all repairs would be needed and the cost involved. I used Spandico for re-roofing my house in 2021 and was completely satisfied with their work. Their price was also a bit lower than other roofers I compared them to. But this review is about a large storage shed I am building in my back yard. It is 12' x 16' with a barn-style/mansard roof. With a main floor of 8' on a 1' base and a 4.5' attic, I decided to take my wife's advice not to try to roof it myself (at age 70) for safety reasons (even though I have built the rest of the shed all by myself). I wanted to get the shed under roof before winter (the rest of the shed is still being finished up). I just finished the rafters and facia boards in early December, and contacted Spandico to see if they could squeeze me in. They bid the project and told me that it depended on the weather and them finishing up some other jobs they had. Thankfully, 40 degree weather held until Dec. 14, and Spandico sent 2 roofers to do the job on Dec. 12 and 13. Jose and Santiago were nice guys and did an excellent job. They used shingles that match my house and drip edge that also matches my house. Not that my shed is not well made, it is, but it is nice to have a professional roof to keep everything dry. I called Spandikow roofing thinking I had a leak in my roof. They told me it might just be an ice dam...but offered to come out on Saturday to look it over. They were very honest. The area I was concerned about didn't look as bad as my other roofs.( I have a split level house with 3 separate roofs.) On Monday, they emailed me a quote for all 3 portions, allowing me to choose how much I wanted done. They also gave me a quote to install gutter screens, which was cheaper than the company that originally installed the gutters....WOW. So we had them do all the work. They came back within 2 weeks, after they got the permit from the Village. Took them 1 day to take everything off the roofs, replace rotten boards, etc and clean out the gutters. They cleaned everything up before they left. They returned the next day and were done before 1p with all 3 roofs. After seeing our yard, Steve suggested we hold off on the gutter screen until he finds a better product. We have many trees, including several pines. He did not want to waste my money on something he felt would not work. He did some research and ordered a different type of screen, much better for our neighborhood. Overall, I am very happy with the whole process of replacing my roof, re-insulating my attic and tuck pointing portions of my chimney with Spandikow and Son. It was tough to find a company who could fulfill all 3 portions of the job. They quickly provided a thorough, detailed written estimate, including price breakdowns for each portion of the work. This was very helpful. Quick response times to phone calls and emails throughout the process, and they took time to answer all of my questions. On day one of the job, they showed up early and got to work immediately. The whole crew was willing to answer any remaining questions I had. Each step of the process seemed to flow smoothly. At the end of the day, the whole site was cleaned up completely. As far as I can tell, the underlayment alone withstood the heavy rain which fell that night. Day two went just as well as day one, the whole roof was shingled quickly. Again, the crew on site was helpful and were clearly intent on completing the job professionally. My neighbor and I both noticed damage to our houses wood siding due to woodpeckers. We did not know who to contact to fix the holes (which were sizable) as they were located near the roof line on the second story. After a little research, we came across Spandico's name and reached out. Rich came out within a day or two and inspected the issues (that we noticed) and also inspected the rest of our houses and found additional damage (damage that I hadn't noticed). Rich provided a quote to fix the issues which was extremely reasonable. We coordinated a day that Spandico could come out and repair both houses at the same time. They even offered to paint the repaired areas if we supplied them with the proper paint. I was on vacation when the repairs were made - but I put the paint out on the front porch. Spandikow & Sons replaced the gutters on our house and repaired trim that had been damaged by squirrels. We had half round gutters before and we really agonized if the "K" style gutter was right for our house. In the end, the "K" style gutters that Spandikow & Sons installed look better than the half round gutters, more efficiently handle rainwater, and are nearly maintenance-free. The crew finished the entire removal and installation job in one day, cleaned up, and left the house looking better than ever. Most importantly to me, Spandikow & Sons has people on staff able to repair damaged wood. One the gutter installation was done, a guy came back and custom-cut some trim to repair two large holes created by squirrels. The repair job matches perfectly with the existing trim and was completed quickly. I'm very pleased with the entire experience and would highly recommend this company. read more

I recently purchased my first home, and the home has a small addition that needed to be reroofed in the back of the house, as well as a small cosmetic cupola on the garage roof that I wanted removed. I called several different roofing companies and received four different bids for the work. Of these four, Spandico was the 2nd least expensive, and offered a much better workmanship guarantee than the cheaper option. Nabil was my contact person throughout the project, and he was extremely helpful. He came out right away to give me an estimate, talked me through the project, and got a crew out to my house a couple of days after I contracted them. Everything from start to finish was excellent! Rich met with me to review the project for a new roof (tear off) and additional attic insulation... we worked through some revisions and then I contracted for the project. Steve and Rich were always responsive and provided great input on the work that was to be done. When Todd and the crew arrived they were professional and did a nice job of respecting the job site and cleaning up afterwards. These guys know what they are doing... I obtained three bids for the project... Spandico was competitive, local, responsive, and I knew of them as they had put a new (second) roof on the house in 1993 (the price was a bit higher this time around!). We called Spandico seeking improvement in attic moisture control and ventilation. Their office communicated well with their staff; Rich called back within 48 hours as promised. He checked various possible sources of attic moisture and discovered that a filter mesh on the ridge exhaust vent had been clogged with paint. Rich identified a replacement ridge vent as well as added soffit intake vents (the latter at my request) to bring the intake and exhaust vent areas up to building standards. The installation went smoothly - I asked the installers to set aside the old ridge vent filter so I could see all of it which they did. The old soffit vents were also clogged with years of dust so replacing them was a good call on Rich's part as well. Overall a professional experience. read more

Spandikow provided the most complete estimate of the roofers we had out for quotes. All work was professionally done and it was good to have one company do miscellaneous roof decking, flashing, gutter, downspout, and masonry chimney repairs rather than try to coordinate a bunch of different contractors. Everything they did needed to be done, I have to wonder if the other companies were just going to put on new shingles because that's all they do, or if they wanted to be the low bidder and then surprise us with the additional costs. He reviewed the scope of work, took pictures for me to see what was happen on the roof, and sent an estimate that same day. I love the online system they use for the estimate, deposit, and final payment. Makes live much easier and more efficient. I was able to sign the contract and pay the deposit from my phone that same day. He called the day they were able to start work as a curtsey, but we didn't need to be home. We are a repeat customer of Spandico, we used them on two previous occasions -- for an addition and a repair. This time, we had a complete tear-off and new roof, gutters and chimney replacement. Luckily we had nice weather so the whole job was done in five days. They were here early and stayed until sundown. Every day, the area was cleaned up immaculately. We had the original cedar shake roof and three additional layers of shingles, so there was quite a bit of debris that was cleaned up by the end of the day. We had Spandico roofing out for a quote on a tear off and reroof of our home. they had done our house 20 years earlier and our garage about 8 years ago so we are familiar with them and had no problem choosing them for this job. I contacted Spandikow & Son to repair wind damage to aluminum siding and a gutter downspout. Some of the corners in the siding had blown off and were missing. I was able to request a quote using their web site and received an estimate within two days. I was able to approve the quote online and the work was completed two days after approval. They did a great job and it looks good. They had warned me that the new corner pieces would be brighter due to the fading of the old aluminum siding. This is the second time I have had Spandikow & Son do work for me. They re-roofed the first house I owned. Overall they do quality work at a fair price. We started having water leak into our bathtub from the light fixture. My husband was able to see that the water was coming in from around the chimney, so we knew that we would need someone who could deal effectively with the flashing on the chimney. We left a message and knew that it might be a while, as this occurred immediately following the huge rains at the end of February, but they came out quickly and gave us a quote that we reviewed online. It was all very straightforward and communication was great via email! A special chimney cap was required, but that was quickly ordered and installed. For once it was smart of me to take the suggestion from a coworker! I have been very pleased with the service I have received from Spandikow roofing. We are extremely pleased with our roof inspection and repair service from Spandico. We noticed a roof leak and were able to quickly schedule an inspection using their website. Rich came out the next day and thoroughly inspected our roof. As soon as he came down from the roof, he showed us photos of the issues he found and explained everything to us. He found not only the defect causing the roof leak, but some other issues that needed to be corrected as well. Just a couple of days later they came out and fixed our roof. Spandico was great to work with. Nabil was very professional and responsive and gave us outstanding advice, convincing us to replace our very old garage roof because the garage was so well built. The roofers finished the work in a timely manner and the quality of the work was superb. I also appreciated their willingness to do a partial roof job, replacing the roof on the house that had been damaged during a hail storm along with our garage roof.
