Very disappointed. We had our roof and gutters replaced in 2022. A leak developed in January 2025. Someone came out and indicated that there was an area that was done incorrectly and that they would come out to fix the issue when it got warmer. We called in April to follow up, but no one returned our call. We continued to call, but where unable to leave a message because the voicemail box was full. In June, we were finally able to leave a message. Someone called and made an appointment to come out. No one showed up. We have left multiple messages, but have not been called back. read more

AVOID THIS COMPANY WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT!!! IF ZERO STARS WERE AVAILABLE, THAT'S WHAT I'D LEAVE!! I hired Gold Standard based on a recommendation from a friend. That was a HUGE mistake. First, the roofers started drinking beer ON MY ROOF at 5pm with an hour and a half of work left. When I told the PM, he laughed and said, "Yeah, I ask them to wait until they are done" Ok dummy, that did a lot of good. Second, the stupid asses that hung my gutters neglected to pitch them correctly and water CASCADED over my gutters and never towards the downspout and has caused ice dams in my gutters for 2 years (I had a friend that does gutters and siding re hang them CORRECTLY) Third, my kitchen ceiling was cracking, splitting and peeling in places where their "painters" did the work. GS blamed it on my cooktop moisture. Ok, dummies, inhad a professional painter with over 35 years experience look at it and fix it tell me that you have ZERO clue as to what you are talking about!! Lastly, when I complained the the owner Erik Ronik, he turned into a total DOUCHEBAG and left a yelling, screaming temper tantrum of a message on my voicemail(nice how he didn't have the balls to actually talk to me like a man, he had to do it like a "telephone tough guy" in my voicemail. If I had my druthers, I'd drag these douchebags into small claims and sue them for what I had to put out in addition to their shotty and quite frankly, shitty work and craftsmanship, but I don't have the time so I'll just leave my HONEST review here, Twitter, Yelp, Google reviews, Yahoo reviews, BBB rating. I was very happy with Gold Standard and the installation of my new roof and Velux sun tunnels. They came on time, cleaned-up after themselves everyday they worked. The owner came after all the work was done to inspect the work that was done. Took a picture of a nail jutting out and had someone come the next day to resolve it. He also touched up a nick on the ceiling where the sun tunnel was placed. This company is very service-oriented and I felt like the price they charged was reasonable. During an ongoing flash flood watch (during Covid lockdown) in Chicagoland, I realized I was getting some water intrusion in the basement. Only 2/3 of our 100+ year old house had gutters, so I sent an email submission through Gold Standard's website on a Sunday at 5pm. They called me Monday by 10am, had Jose out to estimate same day. Work was completed by Wednesday, same week. Our home has some frilly woodwork, and they easily modified the eaves to accommodate the gutter system. Great job, very happy. read more

I reached out to Gold Standard, among many other companies, to get a proposal to have my siding on our house replaced. This wasn't a storm/insurance paid for replacement, but a project I paid for. I had one company "no show", I had one company refuse to meet me at the house unless my wife was there (worst, than the worst "used car salesman tactic) and several others that just weren't price competitive. It came down to two companies, and in the end, we are very happy with the job Gold Standard did. Jim T (their sales guy) was great when he came to meet so he could prepare an estimate. No high pressure sales bs. Once we made a decision to proceed (60+ days later) he kept us informed on the progress (materials, permit, inspection, etc). From the time we signed the agreement to install was only a couple of weeks. My wife is happy, neighbors really like it and I can't find anything wrong with the work they did....and trust me. After a bad wind storm that totally destroyed our roof and damaged our siding, Gold Standard Restoration immediately performed an emergency tarping of the roof to prevent any interior damage to our home. They completed the tarp work in bad weather and at night. This work probably prevented more damage to the house through their prompt action. Interestingly, they would not go up on the roof until they showed me, and I understood and confirmed, that they were fully licensed, insured, bonded, and qualifed to perform the work (peace of mind). Gold Standard met with my insurance adjuster and reviewed the entire damage. Gold Standard worked with the insurance company on the agreed work, the materials, and the cost of the project, to ensure that I would only be responsible for my deductible once the roof was replaced. The work was performed competently and quickly (even though the weather was extremely hot). The Gold Standard roofers and siding men worked tirelessly to ensure that the work was done to my satisfaction and completed with very little disruption to our normal activities. Everyone with whom I dealt at Gold Standard Restoration was professional, courteous, and competent. I am satisfied with the work. I would highly recommend Gold Standard to anyone. read more

I recently had the unfortunate situation of a family of Raccoons rip down my entire soffit and part of my siding. I called Gold Standard and they were out to my house the very next day. Service was prompt, thorough, courteous, and they even offered up alternate solutions than I had come up with that would keep the Raccoons from doing it again! Another concern of mine was that they would not be able to match the white of the soffit. To my surprise, they did so perfectly! Lastly, another thing that stood out to me is how clean they were! There was also a squirrels nest embedded in the soffit. They took the time to clean up all the debris that it caused. Even out of my gutter! Overall, my experience was outstanding. Seriously, I am pretty happy that these raccoons caused some damage because a good contractor is worth is weight in gold! (No pun intended!) Thanks again for the great work! We would like to give George Lombardo 10 stars if we could! He came to us after we had already been denied coverage for our roofs. We were skeptical. We didn't want to paid for anything that wasn't legitimately the insurance company's responsibility. We weren't looking to cheat anyone and we figured the insurance company had already inspected the roofs and given us their answer. George didn't feel their answer was fair. He pushed to have the claim reopened and to have a neutral party make the decision. While we waited for the process to take place, he replaced our roofs. The quality of work was excellent. He only used top of the line materials. The work was preformed quickly and the guys on the job were qualified and professional. George was always available to take my calls or to run over if we needed anything. The only downfall to the process was how long it took. We were told it would take 10 months and it did. Even though we knew it- it felt like forever. However, it was worth the wait! In the end we went from being denied coverage to a $142,000 payment. We are so grateful for everything George did for us! read more

Our house suffered hail damage in Jul-17. I didn't know any contractors, so I waited a few weeks after I filed a claim to see who was getting the work. Seemed like 4-5 companies, so I asked a few neighbors and they recommended Gold Standard. I called them up, Drew came out and gave me his estimate. It was a lot more than what my insurance company had listed. He called and worked with the insurance company and I got a new roof, gutters, some siding, garage door, fascia around house and windows and 2 new chimneys. The cost...just my deductible. He and the office staff worked directly with my insurance company. I didn't have to do more than call and give my insurance company permission to deal with him. They were swamped all summer with claims, so the work took some time, but it did get done and done well. Plus, they've come out a couple of more times to fix issues that weren't really caused by them. Way to go above and beyond what's expected.
