To say the least, I came in with trepidation of hurting myself and many doubts on my ability to 'keep up'. What I have learnt is the CrossFit is infintesimally scalable and the fact that all levels of people do the same workout feels rewarding and challenging at the same time. I have met beginners like me, veterans who fist-bump me at the end of class with an encouraging word of 'great workout', and amazing coaches who care. The gym is special - and what makes it special is the people. I have had 'WOD- workout of the day' classes with 9 different coaches over the last 3 months. Each one of them has a beautiful smile, an infectious positive energy, and serious coaching chops. The coaches are amazing at guidance, scaling the workouts to match my abilities, and watch over my technique and perfectly balance the push/pull of challenging me without leaving me dejected. I still begrudgingly (lazily) walk in the the box, but I know that all I have to do is show up - and I am in good hands. I always walk out suffering a bit and looking dead, but by the time I get home I feel proud of my achievement that day. Thanks to the folks at CRF7 for being my guides on the journey of building health, fitness and fulfillment. The learning curve 'seems' steep but with a lot of guidance and consistent attendance I am already seeing positive impacts on my health and mental well-being.

I'm sorry but watching a tv screen and rotating through stations just doesn't do it for me. I may as well workout at home! I timed that the actual minutes I was working out for was 33! F35 might be okay if you are new to working out and need some kind of direction. The weights are decent but again I could do this at home. But avoid if you are an experienced athlete and want an actually challenging workout! The instructors didn't seem very knowledgeable either. Having done gymnastics at an elite level, I know the qualities of good athletic trainers. The instructors at F35 would just cheer and point to stations that the tv was showing. Kind of ridiculous! I think I'll take my money elsewhere! Other cons include: -absurd cost -no towels -claustrophobic studio -parking in tight garage

I am usually a big fan of group fitness so it's painful to me to give this such a bad review…read more However it is a major waste of money and I want to advise others to stay away for the following reasons: -Time: you go in thinking you are going to get a full 45 minute workout. However, it should be called F35 bc after the instructor shows what each station is, there is only 35 minutes left and this includes warm up time and time between stations -instructions: basically a tv shows what each station is. And the instructor really only goes around cheering for people. One instructor looked so young and didn't really seem to be that knowledgeable on fitness. -Price: a drop in class is $35. Given that the workout is only 35 minutes after the demo, that's a $1 a minute. -workout: the sets were really short and simple. You may as well just do your own workouts bc you are looking at a tv for instruction on f45 anyways -other: the space is really small and not very nice. They don't even give towels which is absurd for $35 a class. And also they won't stop bothering you to join after you try a class. F45 Is a fad. If you are interested in group fitness try a cross fit studio or literally any other gym. They will rob you of your money here and you won't get that great of a workout.

The coaches at Fairfax Corner are some of the most knowledgeable and motivating trainers. They are always eager to help you improve your technique and answer any questions you may have. Shout out to DeAndre, Michelle, Bul, Denzel, Adam, Shannon and Chris! (I know there's coaches I have yet to meet but that's also because they do cardio classes and I'm not there yet. You'll definitely see me sometime soon though!) I think that's what makes Fairfax Corner stand out are the coaches and environment. The coaches take the time to explain the exercises in detail and make sure that you understand what muscles you are working and how to properly perform each movement. They push you to give it your all, but they do so in a way that is encouraging rather than intimidating. They remember our names, our goals, and our fitness levels, and are always willing to offer personalized advice and support. Overall, F45 classes are truly top-notch. If you're looking for a challenging and fun workout that will leave you feeling accomplished and energized, I highly recommend giving F45 Fairfax Corner a try.

Jeff and Julie are amongst the best crossfit coaches I've ever had the opportunity to train with. They break down each movement down to its most simple step in order to ensure you complete the movement correctly, helping prevent injury and making you stronger. There are always 2 coaches in every class I've attended, sometimes 3 coaches; this gives you a lot of one on one attention! The box is big with loads of space. When class has a lot of people you still do not feel "crowded." They have a good number of bars at all levels (45, 35, and even 25lbs). The plates are in good shape and in the first 2 months there I've seen new ones come in. Plenty of rack space. Oh and a nice stretch mat! The other athletes are pretty cool people. There are some serious athletes at this box but there are also plenty of regular people and even some children. You decide how hard you want to go. There is no judging or intimidation but lots of POSITIVE reenforcement. I love the 2 "big ass fan" helping keep the place cool. Give this place a try regardless of you experience level.

There are enough athletes at every level to give you something to aspire to. The coaches are approachable and programming never gets boring. There are sometimes time-caps but they are not strictly enforced if you want to go beyond them. There are areas in the back to do stretching and finish up if you want to. You can also do your own work out there if you don't want to do the class (needs 24/7 access level.) I love the Sunday workout. It is usually more cardio, a bit more relaxed, usually almost full, and everyone just having a great time during and after the exhausting workout. CrossFit Fairfax is truly the church of my family - just a great group of coaches and athletes united in a desire to get and stay physically and mentally healthy. CrossFit Fairfax is very reasonably priced for the area with family and military discounts. There is a 24/7 option that gives you access to the gym anytime on your own ($15/mo extra.)

For CrossFit specifically, the energy is great, and you get to learn how to do the movements correctly, but at times (mainly when I first started), I've felt a bit judged and lost. It really depends on the instructor and the time you go. Hyrox, on the other hand, is great since you're usually in groups, which makes it feel more structured and supportive. All of the peak instructors I've had have been really friendly and motivating! The owner is also very welcoming and encourages bringing friends, offering a free trial class so you can see if it's a good fit. *Workouts: Classes usually have about 10-25 people, and you can go at your own pace. I typically go 4-6 times a week, switching up which classes I take. When I first started, the workouts felt tough, but over time, they've become much more manageable (results, yay!). Personally, I'm one of the most unmotivated people when working out alone, and they do a great job of encouraging you to show up at least once a week. The classes are a mix of bodyweight exercises, weights, and cardio, so there's always variety. *Pricing: I pay $159 a month for unlimited classes (~$6.65 a class if you go 6 days a week), which also includes 24/7 access and amenities like massage chairs and saunas. When I first started, I was on the $99 plan for two classes a week, which is a good option if you're not ready to commit fully. *Overall Thoughts: Halo Fitness is a great option for anyone looking for that little extra push. If you're new to CrossFit and have the time, I'd HIGHLY recommend going a bit early and asking questions so you don't injure yourself and don't feel so lost walking around, wondering what you need for the workout and which stations aren't taken.

Expect high energy, upbeat music, dim lights, and plenty of sweat. There is also a Stretch and Mobility class that is great for loosening up tight muscles. The instructors have a very positive attitude and inspire the students. This isn't one of those studios where you'll feel shamed or intimidated. Much of the credit goes to the Studio Manager, Gwen, who is also a fantastic instructor and lovely person. Gwen makes sure that everyone gets a great workout while having a great time in class. No matter what shape you are in, who you will be entrusting your body to is very important. I can say with full confidence that every single one of the what? three bad reviews? Of Sweatbox  should be cast aside because they are irrelevant since none of them talk about the actual sweat method and what it does to your body. Firstly, if you are worried if fat shaming/ageism exists here. The answer is a firm NO. I am older, I am overweight , and I was  welcomed with open arms, made a part of the family immediately, and that has not changed since the first class. I went to one OrangeTheory location a year or so back and was full on fat-and-age shamed and that made my self esteem spiral down into dark abyss for a very long time. Because words hurt, because I am already so vulnerable and frightened to cross the threshold of the gym, I need support, not otherwise. SweatBox is all welcoming, all inclusive type of place. Yes, they are located inside an exact copy of the Globo Gym from Dodgeball, (I got jokes) but just walk to the back of the first floor, to the Sweatbox counter, as far as I understand, gym and them are two separate entities. I purchased a 7-day, $34.00 unlimited trial pass online, came 30 minutes early for the instruction session (important to come early, instructors won't say no to you if you show up 5 minutes prior to class, but ultimately you are shorthanding yourself on the instruction part - don't you want to know as much as you can about bike set up, and components of training? And remember that instructors have other student s  to take care of prior to class) I began my training on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019 and I made sure to come every day, dragging my self in sometimes, even if my body screamed to go get nachos instead. The instructors I've experienced during the trial week were: Alexx G Shawn M Kevin D Ashley D I loved all the instructors, Alexx is all tough love, just as described in his bio, but I love his light show and music choices. Kevin has an amazing aura and energy and makes you feel included. Then comes Ashley, wow. I don't know if she somehow hypnotizes the class, but you get in the zone, stop thinking of outside world, and all you focus on is her voice, her example poses, and her corrections, nothing else. At the end of the class, when you finally come to, you realize that you worked out for a full hour and  never looked at the clock once! Shawn is a rare soul. I have my collection of special, big hearted people, the list is short, but Shawn is on it. First of all the energy during his classes is through the roof, he is so charismatic, you WANT to do good to show him your appreciation. But my experience with him is also more personal. When I felt embarrassed, questioned myself, felt weak, cried like a baby after second class, Shawn in the gentlest of ways supported me, was there for me, helped me get past those hurdles and I cannot be more thankful. He always has words of encouragement, listens with attention, he is present. What an amazing human being. To sum up - 15 lbs. down (results will vary of course) and I signed up for an unlimited monthly. They got me good.

Combined with the music and the trainer giving you encouragement, spinning can be a really good cardio workout. It almost feels competitive with all the numbers and colors on the TV screens too. However, I don't understand the hype with $20-40 spin classes when I can do the same workout at the gym and push myself just as hard. I suppose it's worth it if you need that extra push, but I can't really afford $20-40 per class when i can get a membership at the gym for $30 a month. This was more of a hybrid spin/core class that utilizes TRX trainers, so there's that. And they do provide you with a heart rate monitor strap that gauges how hard you're working and calculate what intensity you should be at based on your endurance. The class itself was a 1:1 that introduced everyone to how a real class would go. We learned the basic movements on the TRX trainers and then were taught how to use the bikes. But it felt really rushed. The trainer was speaking so fast, I couldn't even really understand half of what he was saying. All in all, i got a good workout in though and I enjoyed the cold scented towel at the end.
