What am I doing here at 10 on a beautiful Saturday morning? My first Studio Red class - Intro to…read moreStudio Red. Fitness level (and I believe Basic) members get three free classes a month. After talking with Tonya, one of the Studio Red Coaches, I gathered my courage and girded my big boy pants to give it a try. I wasn't feeling 100% when I came in (up late, dogs up early wanting to play on me), but when the 50 minutes were up, my body was tired in a good way, and my brain was ready for more. Tonya showed how to perform the exercises and gave modifications, and kept the class going, spending time with each of us. The three free classes a month seems to be a little used benefit that I will be taking advantage of more often.

They offer some great amenities. However, I've only been a member for 3 weeks. In that time, the movie room has been down for a week. The massage chairs, they only have 8 for the entire facility. One has been down since before I started and another went down today. Now there are only 6 for everyone to share. The pool is a great amenity but they only offer one evening water aerobics class. For working individuals, the morning classes aren't an option. So, all that being said, I am enjoying my membership. There are a lot of cardio machines so usually no wait if you want to do that. A basketball court, intense workout classes, free weights, personal trainers, and much more. It is worth the costs.

This gym has regular people, high level high school kids, college kids playing sports or mature adults that can afford personal trainers, this is not the typical meat-head jacked up jerks walking around flexing in the mirrors. If you are looking for the cheapest, flavor of the month gym this is not your place (a new one just opened up). If you want personal help achieving your goals, great option. If you want to work out by yourself, it is almost a private gym where you have access to everything all the time. Brian has been great for the 9 months I have been here. Personal trainer has exceeded expectations. I could not recommend a better place, they will schedule a free initial session and there is no high pressure sales pitch when I joined.

Interesting that someone would post such falsehoods. What's the longest you've been a member at 1…read moregym? Its been my honor and privilege to be a part of Absolute U Fitness for over 5 years, and have always seen the upmost professionalism in all who work there. The trainers go above and beyond to help all their clients. Each person is treated with respect and trained to the expectations that they have set with their PT. Your post indicates you know nothing of each individuals life style, their training habits or what their goals are. You're insulting those who have benifitted from the trainers expertise and help. People lives have been saved by the people you have insulted in your uninformed rating. Have you even trained with any of the trainers who represent Absolute? I think not. If you're looking for a place to learn a better, healthier lifestyle you will get nothing less than perfection from the professional personal trainers at Absolute u fitness.

BUYER BEWARE!! Many people write reviews to complain and…read morearen't fair in their assessment. I'll keep this fair. GOOD: For Lafayette, the gym is decent in size, offerings (free weights, cardio, machines), and classes. The location and 24 hour schedule are very convenient. If you have kids, they have a great day care that's a moderately fair price. The bathrooms are not dirty. BAD #1: Owner-operator is very involved and ever present; he's not very personable or approachable (one of those grumpy types with zero sense of humor). He tries saving pennies with things like watering down the soap and turning off cooling feature on water fountains. If a woman get pregnant and cannot lift during last 5 months of pregnancy... forget it - he will do nothing for you. The gym is a significantly overpriced for how small it is. BAD #2: Backstory: the biggest gym in Lafayette closed in 2015 on US 26. I found Southside Fitness and so did many of the other weight/power lifters from the closed gym. One by one, they all left - and I mean all. Two told me they had payment issues with the owner and others mentioned non money-related issues with the owner. I found this weird as I've never had an issue at any of my gyms. At the time, I thought those guys were being unreasonable. 18 months after signing up... I found that it was not the said (former) members who were unreasonable. Long story short, the owner likes to have a "Planet Fitness Crowd." So if you move serious weight - either power or body building - the owner will find a way to get you out of there unless you are as quiet as a mouse. This issue does not apply to the majority of gym members: if you don't move heavy weight, you only have to deal with the other things like warm fountain water and watered-down soap (which are no big deal).

Post pandemic the entirety of the staff seems to have cut & run, NOBODY has answered the phones in 8 months. I have left several messages & emails with them and have yet to hear back. I have an active claim with the BBB against this gym as they have not stopped billing me though I have sent multiple notices of cancellation. This business is a fraudulent front to get your bank account information & social security number. I HIGHLY recommend another 24 hour gym with regular staff and month to month contracts
