Good mall but... nasty birds flying around in the food court area. I'm praying they don't poop in my food. Not a good look in here. The mall is rather clean so nothing there. Food choices are pretty good. Not as many as some malls but it will do. Great on mall security and its needed. I'm not a fan of "the mall." This mall is big and doesn't have the ambiance of Colonie Center. I'd love to see it reinvent itself like Colonie did and like Destiny USA is... with more experience based businesses. read more

So many stores and so many sales! And having a movie theater in the mall is nice. This mall has 2 floors and is pretty big, but not difficult to walk through the entire thing. And good food options inside. Easy parking. read more

When you love to shop as much as I do, growing up near a pitifully small mall with virtually no good clothing stores is about as bad as it gets. Luckily, Crossgates Mall is only an hour drive away, and is home to my two favorite stores of all time - H&M and Forever 21. Perfect! Now if only gas prices weren't so high, I'd be here all the time. The mall itself is clean, which I greatly appreciate considering the mall in my hometown is pretty disgusting. One negative thing I do have to agree with other reviewers on is the behavior of the kiosk vendors. The first time I walk by a stand selling hair products or whatever, I smile and say no thank you. But the vendor inevitably keeps shouting after me. The next time I walk by another, I shake my head and look the other way. Vendor still doesn't take a hint and keeps shoving their product in my face. Third time I go by, it's all I can do to keep from yelling at them. I don't think they understand that many shoppers just want to be left alone. I can't imagine how they get any customers when they are so pushy like that. Parking can be tricky too, especially on a Saturday or during the holiday season. I feel like I am complaining a lot considering this is a 3 star review, but to get to shop in stores that I actually like, it is definitely worth the hassle and potential risk of being chased down by a kiosk employee or two. read more

Here's an update about Crossgates since I wrote the last one. A few years ago the parent companies of Macy's and Filene's merged. The former Filene's at the end of the mall became a Macy's and the former Macy's is still vacant. Dick's Sporting Goods built a beautiful two-level store where the former Lord and Taylor was. Among other things they have some nice golf stuff there including an indoor putting green. A while back a really fabulous store moved in known as For Love Of Wine (FLOW). They do classes on wine two or three days a week which include tastings. Sometimes the class gets to try a new wine to help decide if the store will stock it or not. Unfortunately one of the attractions of this mall was a Borders bookstore and cafe which closed in early September when the company went under. I think business has suffered from the MB18 rule as the younger set now simply goes to Colonie Center which is in the same general area and also fairly convenient to the bus line between Albany and Schenectady which runs 7 days including holidays. There used to be a nice gaming arcade next to the food court but the MB18 rule killed it off. read more

Terrible mall! Avoid if you can! Just very terrible! Horrible experience. People who come here does not know how to drive they will hit your car and driving in your lane. Food choices in foodcourt is bleh. I like colonie center better with bigger parking lots and people are better drivers in Colonie mall and they have PfChang. A necessary evil. I don't like malls, but this one does what it needs to. The stores are ok, but inside it just feels so depressing.

Crossgates Mall has recently received a much needed sprucing up and they finally got smart and added comfy seating throughout the mall where shoppers can perch for a snack, rest their feet, and scroll their Facebook feed. I think they should consider adding kids play area for tots and continue refining the shopping/entertainment/upscale eatery offerings. read more

May 15th, Myself and a couple friends stopped by for a couple smoothies. The lady behind the counter took our order, and we began to wait for our drinks. Meanwhile the guy making the smoothies dropped a banana peel on the dirty floor and he picked it and did not change his gloves and continued making our drinks. When our drinks where ready they where set on the counter with the straws sitting about 10-12 inches behind them, we grabbed the drinks and then reached for the straws because the guy did not give them to us, then the lady that was taking the orders rudely said " future reverence, do not reach for anything on the counter, it will be handed to you when he's ready" as he was already onto making someone else's order. I thought that was ridiculously rude to say to a paying customer that just purchased a 6 dollar smoothie that ended up tasting like strawberry banana dishwater. Take your business elsewhere. read more

Meh. Boring suburban places (please don't try to convince me that Albany is a "city") usually have pretty good malls because there's nothing else to do. Crossgates didn't wow me, though. The food court is rather small with a limited selection. There are a few actual restaurants, like Melting Pot & Texas de Brazil. There's an adequate selection of stores, but nothing overwhelmingly appealing. Dave & Busters and the movie theatre are nice... And open past 9:30, which is when most of the rest of the place shuts down. read more

Biggest mall I've been to yet! Clean, fun and unlimited stores. Great restaurants, too!

Pretty good. Good place to spend the day. Glow mini golf, Dave n busters, movies, shopping and dining. Had a relaxing day. Good array of $$$ to $ shops. Did a little bit of everything. Ate at UNOs, shopped around, and watched guardians of the galaxy IMAX 3D! Fun times. read more

This mall is big, 2 stories plenty of shopping options but the mall is 90% for women. There are very little mens clothing stores in the mall with the exception of a few half rate suit stores and macy's of course. Even the Macy's could be better. read more

I love this mall! It is easy to get lost here because of all the different directions that it goes in lol There's a movie theatre (IMAX as well), a 2 floor Dick's and a 2-Floor forever 21. It is also minutes away from the countries largest wal mart. Highly recommendable. Having CCS and Zumiez under the same roof is a HUGE plus for me since there are no CCS stores near me , and the closest zumiez is in rocklad county. read more

I've gone into this mall every once and awhile, and every time I head into this mall, it seems way too big to shop it all at once. With two floors and containing some major names such as Best Buy and Verizon Wireless and even an Apple store, there's no reason not to go into this mall. If I ever had more time, I'd take a little more time to shop, but because I don't live there and are able to shop for longer times, I don't tend to shop there all that often(but I do, on occasion). read more

I love the variety of shops they have in this mall, and they are always getting new stores every time I go here. I am used to a mall that is completely dead inside and has no shops opening and/or they're always leaving. I enjoy being able to walk down the mall and have a store in almost every spot. The food variety is also very wide, and I can have something different to eat almost any time I go! read more

Crossgates should be on the family-visit list for Albany parents who are dropping kids off at local colleges or for business travelers with empty blocks of time. Comparable to malls in suburbia. Recently I had 4 hours to kill and had tired of the Albany art museum and other cultural attractions. Found a connector for my GPS in 10 minutes at Best Buy, then saw the Regal movie theater. There was a Johnny Rockets about 30 feet from the movie theater -- movies tickets were discounted if you ordered a Johnny Rockets entree. Stadium style seating and a milk shake! This is the Best Mall that I enjoy going to, because they have Food (which tastes good at Friendly's) Clothing Stores and a Movie Theater called Regal Cinemas in which I saw "Gardians of the Galaxy" at with my Nephew and we had so much fun just spending time with each other!! On my next visit to Crossgates I went to the Shoe Store and came out with Boots that my Godfather bought me. read more

I'm really not that impressed with Crossgates...in fact it makes me yawn. I mean it serves its purpose as a mall; typical anchor stores and a variety of others to satisfy the taste of a variety of people. I actually find Crossgates to be rather bland as it lacks personality (yes a mall can have personality). While you can find some decent wears, I find Crossgates to be very cookie-cutteresque (which is not always a bad thing...just not my thing). read more

This mall was midocre at best. Two floors of stores. The anchor stores at Macy's, JC Penney and Best Buy. The Macy's men's department was small and nothing special. This mall has many of the typical maintstreem stores you would in any suburban mall anywhere in America. In fact there is no high end shopping in Albany at all. The good things: I'm a new mommy and Crossgates has a ton of children's clothing stores to shop at...BabyGap, Children's Place, Gymboree, Macy's, JCPenneys. There are so many different stores to visit no matter what you're looking for. Decent restaurants for sit-down dinners. The bad things: Parking is awful...bad on weekends, worse around the holidays. When it snows they don't do a very good job of clearing the parking lot which was a huge hassle for me this winter with a new baby and a stroller to push from the back of the parking lot. And you have to worry about your car being blocked cuz without visible lines people park three across. Also not necessarily the mall's fault but people do not know how to park! The rows are designed to be used one way and I have constantly come across people going the wrong way and having to maneuver around them. Maybe label the rows with more than just an arrow at the end...one way signs maybe? The mall bans teenagers without adults on weekends to promote a family atmosphere. If that's their concern then why is the nursing area labeled on their map as a certain section but all it contains are stores? No family restroom?! It seems the baby changing stations are in the most inconvenient places too. The bathroom I've always used...the one near the old theater on the 3rd floor...the changer is in front of the handicapped stall and right next to one of those loud hand driers!! Maybe instead of getting new trash cans & painting their benches bright gaudy colors recently they should have figured out how to make the mall more family friendly. read more

The entrances and exits aren't totally obvious. Normally, the place is a decent place. I've sadly been to many malls far worse than Crossgates. The one other draw back of the mall is how it has crushed downtown Albany. Then again, does anyone really care or miss the old days? read more

Best buy store staff go above and beyond to ensure you are satisfied. However, the staff at Geek Squad are unprofessional and have no idea what they are doing when one pays them to complete a simple install. I went to purchase a new computer paid 99.00 for the package which included uploading softeware etc. The first computer aftre one month no longer worked due to geek squad not turning on the anti virus software which I purchased and paid them to upload. The second computer, the same issue, they never turned on my anti-virus nor my firewall. I am thinking that this may be a tactic so taht one gets a virus and has to bring it in for service, I never received the back up disk, again, I paid for this in the same package. When I phoned them and spoke to Mark the geek squad manager he was hasty and rude. Now again, I have to bring my computer there to get the back up disk and leave my computer. Geek Squad staff is terrible and lacks any knowledge. I called the 1-888-best buy number and spoke to customer relations and they were extremely helpful. I will never again purchase another computer from best buy, I will go to walmart where I expect their computer staff to lack the same. At least then I will expect this of them. I certainly DID NOT expect Geek squad to be such GEEKS! read more

Sprint kind of sucks which is why I'm leaving, but I should also mention that I came in because my Galaxy S3 the charging port was messed up and not charging at all. I was up on my contract but I wanted to see if I could hold out for a few months before hopping ship or buying into another sprint phone. So anyway the tech clerk said he couldn't do anything about the charging port and said he recommended I get a insurance replacement. I told him I didn't want to pay $150 for another S3 when I could get a newer phone for the same amount on a less expensive carrier. He got somewhat snippy with me at this point and started on a monologue about having broken phone issues with any carrier. I pointed out that at the moment I had been paying $90 a month for sprint service, and there are loads of pre-paid and other non-contract carriers that offer much cheaper rates for the same type of service I had. His only response was to go on about broken phones... which really have nothing to do with anything Sprint offers because the insurance company (Asurion of course) is totally separate. Fine anyway I'm done with Sprint... even with the 19% federal employee discount from Sprint I am going to be saving $720+ a year on this new service. read more

What can I say, It's a mall. Has 2 floors, but the ability to get lost. I still get lost from time to time and I've been here well over 10 times. Some stores don't seem to be placed in the right locations. The stalls in the middle of the hallways are really annoying when they try and talk to you. There is always a lady with a clipboard at the bottom of the escalator by Best Buy wanting to ask you questions. Although, come to think of it, I don't think I saw her the last 2 times I was there. read more

I only go here for the Apple Store. Otherwise, forget it. Nothing out of the ordinary; nothing you cannot obtain on line. So big I still get lost. Food court stinks and so do the restaurants. Have actually been trailed by the kiosk salespeople trying to give us (UNWANTED) samples. Also, the parking lot has no directional signs, so it's a major pain trying to get out of the lot and onto the expressway. I certainly hope that Apple opens a store somewhere else in Columbia County so I never have to go back to this awful place again. Totally depressing. read more

This is one of the better malls in the area, with a lively atmosphere and clean decor. The shiney and somewhat extravagant interior design seems geared toward the bourgeois, but as said in previous reviews, the stores range in class appeal. Expansive with a decent variety of outlets. It's a great place to hang out with friends (for those who can escape suburbia), But if you look younger than 20, have a valid picture ID with your birth date handy (work IDs and college IDs don't work). read more

The mall itself is really good. I've spent a lot of Sundays there! But that's the thing. I am 17 years old and I cannot be in the mall on Fridays and Saturdays because I am under 18 years old. It's a major flaw in the mall's rules. A good thing is that its never crowded and there are plenty of stores for everyone! But its never crowded because they discriminate against younger people. So, I dont know. It's OK as long as you have an ID or don't want to go during a weekend. read more
