Sorry if this is a weird review but I couldn't care less it needs and will be said. so we rode 1300 miles in 6 days on our street legal dirt bikes, adventure riding all over vermont, NH and Maine. I wasn't expecting what we encountered once we got off our bikes in this parking lot..a human? The owner comes out and greeted us out in the parking lot? not the way a used car salesman does when they want to make a sale, but an honest love for people. I believe his name was Frankie but bad with names on low sleep while camping in the most remote woods in new England. In addition to Frankie, his co workers were seemingly just as high spirited and nice. Like i said not the cheap smiles and fake crap, this was different. We spoke in friendly conversations though-out our time there. This was a reminder that i desperately needed, humanity still exist. they were honestly some of the nicest people i have spoken too in an embarrassing long time. * The second best part was the burger! they served up in a timely manner and was hands down the best to date! I was annoying myself out loud saying damn this is good, grunting like a caveman and how i didn't want it to end!!! Haha no joke it was amazing! massive, fresh and well cooked. I was so upset we had to switch up our route on the way out of maine because i told him we would be back the next day for my birthday but wasn't able to make it. like i said, i dont care if no one reads this or if they think this is a fake review or whatever. everyone there that day made a hell of an impact and when i needed it the most. great food and wonderful people! Love this town and the people. Made the mistake of having breakfast here with my family and my sister's. Everything just took forever to get our food. Eventually we got our food after an hour and 20 minutes. Took longer for our kids. Looking at the bill, they decided to get cute with charging for syrup and coffee refills we didn't ask for. A respectable place would have apologized, etc for the insane wait. Wishing we left early with all the red flags as we had a flight to catch and drive to Boston. Between the shenanigans with the bill and service there are so many better options in town read more

This is a cute little diner in the small town of Bethel, Maine. It looks like a diner of old with stools at a counter and several tables and chairs. They also have some outside seating. We wanted breakfast but made do with lunch since breakfast was over. Sis had a basic cheeseburger and chips. It was basic with just burger in a bun with a pickle spear and bag of potato chips. She pronounced it ok. I had a BLT on rye and opted in for onion rings for a small up charge. The sandwich was like I would make at home, but I would add more bacon. The onion rings were basic frozen rings. Both of these were also ok. It took longer than we expected to get our order. So overall, the food experience was not exceptional but acceptable, especially when one is hungry. read more

The best and most unique thing are the coffee mugs. I hate it when diners use the classic diner little coffee mugs. Not here! Here they serve a nice big huge mug of coffee. It is a classic diner in every way....except that they serve beer, wine, and brunch cocktails like bloody Mary's and mimosas. Tight fitting tables, tight bar stools. Limited places to stand while you wait for a table. The waitstaff's friendly and efficient. The food is basic...the toast was overly buttered...I mean insane amount of butter on each piece. The pancakes were huge and very fluffy. The French toast was cooked crisp...which was really nice. The home fries potatoes were very bland...no love in these potatoes...just a little bit of seasoning would have gone a long way. read more

Had breakfast/ lunch. Very busy place. Place was very clean. Extensive menu. Had meat livers omelette, i don't like browned eggs , they were a little brown, english muffin, well done . Also had burger with pepper jelly, very good and well prepared. Also had home cut fries, very good as well. Waitress was alone and really on top of it. We always support small local restaurants when traveling. There are so many jewels scattered across the state of Maine BUT the Crossroads Diner in Bethel is NOT one of them. We were seated promptly, drinks and lunch orders were placed, then we were totally ignored! Hot sandwiches and onion rings arrived cold. The tab was left at table and we waited over 15 minutes for someone to collect payment. The diner was not full; not sure why there was such a delay in receiving our food or collecting payment. We love the Bethel area but will NOT be returning to the Crossroads Diner. read more

Really enjoyed it in here! As with many places during COVID, these folks are short staffed, and waits are a little long, but it's totally worth it. Came here on a Saturday morning and was pleasantly surprised to see mimosas on the menu! They were delicious. I got eggs Benedict, my boyfriend got eggs and French toast. The Benny was delicious. I loved it. I tried the French toast and that was fabulous too. Really cute inside, and there's an outdoor patio too. Our server was so friendly and patient. This instantly became one of my favorite restaurants in town the first time I visited. Starting with a huge bright yellow mug of strong coffee, to an incredible omelette and the griddle fried breakfast potatoes, I was hooked. I became a regular over my extended holiday. Every subsequent visit got better, as the servers recognized me and were always friendly and smiling. It's certainly nothing fancy or faddish about this place, it's the quintessential hometown diner where on any given day there's probably an equal mix of local regulars chatting up the staff to out of towners like myself having one of the best meals they'll have in this beautiful little town. Their rueben is also a must if you're a rueben person. Don't blame me if you have to loosen that belt a notch after trying out my recommendation. It's worth it. read more

Would leave a ZERO if it was available. Ordered 2 Breakfast sandwiches to go...Toasted or grilled English muffin, egg, cheese, bacon and salt and pepper. Get a few miles down the road....NO BACON, English Muffin NOT grilled or Toasted, no salt and pepper...TERRIBLE. Pretty simple order. Previously been to Crossroads for breakfast, sat at counter. Watched the cook...arrogant to customers and wait staff, took forever to get food, and it was only ok. Watched him use fingers to pick up various food items.. Will never go back. I suggest STAY AWAY. On our last trip here a few years ago, this was our go to spot to start the day with an outstanding breakfast ! And we were so anxious to return here for another great breakfast on this trip ! But if I could leave a no star review I would as this place was absolutely horrible ! How someone could screw up everyone's breakfast, they did ! Eggs Benedict was raw liquid, sunny side up eggs were more than half raw liquid. Ham so thin and brittle that you couldn't cut it with a knife ! Potatoes were mush and cold. Stopped in this morning for a breakfast before ATVing in Gorham NH. Clean and nicely decorated. We ordered the Long Road which was so much food but everything tasted good. A little too much salt on the home fries for my personal preference but they were cooked well and home made. The better half ordered a breakfast sandwich on homemade bread and that was good. Coffee is average diner coffee and the OJ was good. All in all Crossroads may not rock your world but it is a good solid place to eat when in the area. Staff was very personable and attentive. We arrived during the breakfast rush on a Saturday. The wait for a table was typical, about 15 minutes. We ordered two coffees and a water. My coffee came in a dirty cup, covered in coffee drips and lipstick. When I asked for a clean one I was met with a crappy attitude; no apology, nothing. A few minutes later we ordered our food, but never actually ate. We sat there for about 40 minutes - no check in, no coffee refills, nothing - and then were told our order ticket never went in. We got up and walked out. The worst thing of all was witnessing our server snip at another customer to get out of her way. You can have the best food (we'll never know, not going back) and ruin everything with a shit attitude. read more

Cute little place to go for breakfast before skiing! My boyfriend got the biscuits covered in sausage gravy and loved it. I got a bacon omelette with potatoes. When I walked in and saw fresh bread rising on the stove it was a sign of good things to come. Great location...if you're headed to Sunday River or Mount Abrams. Hospitality and Service? Friendly and attentive; conversational. Prices? Better than I'd expect as a tourist. Food? The recommended burger was indeed great, not your ordinary slab of mediocre blendered-beef. Stopped on our way to Vermont. Arrived before 2:00 and left after 3:00 and we only ordered a sandwich with fries and a salad! Slow cook service. Fries were hot but extremely greasy and under cooked. They were all out of diet drinks of any kind and the water was lukewarm. Waitress was good however. AVOID this place...we stopped in for lunch just because we saw it on the side of the road. It was a mistake. This is definitely more of a 1.5 star review (you will see why it was not a flat out 1 at the end). One of the first issues was that the wait was very long. For a place with fairly simple diner food like this, it was much, much longer than we would have expected to wait, and the service was not really anything to cry home about either. The waitress seemed a little more interested in some of the other tables than ours, and she kept running away to the kitchen for a while after we asked for things. My BBQ chicken sandwich left a little to be desired. The chicken was bland, and you couldn't even taste the gouda cheese, which was interesting since it's such a strong, smoky cheese. For having so many components, the sandwich was surprisingly lacking in flavor. Worse than the BBQ chicken were the burgers, which my grandma, mom, and grandpa all ordered well-done. They came out very pink in the middle...my grandma's was even red on the outside, to the point that she didn't even want to eat it. They all said that even if they had been cooked the way they had wanted, they would not have been good burgers. None of them could taste their respective cheeses either, and overall they were poor for what would be expected out of a diner burger. My grandpa pointed out the redness of my grandma's burger, and the waitress comped them for the price of hers (but not for my grandpa's or my mom's because we didn't mention those). That was nice, but the way the waitress did it was not overly apologetic. She seemed to prefer to give us a lesson on how we should "just tell them" so they could "make us another one" rather than apologizing, but we were not particularly interested in waiting another hour for another burger. If they hadn't comped us for the one burger, which is my main reason for the 2 stars, or if my sandwich had been worse than it was, this probably would have been a 1 star. This quaint restaurant has tables inside and outside on a porch. Tables were full which could explain the slower service during the lunch hour. Orders at our table included a cheeseburger, a Rueben sandwich, an Eastern Sandwich with fries, and two hot dogs with chili. Everything was very good. Simple, tasty, townie comfort food. Based on the reviews, I expected an absolute dive. It's a small but cozy location. The wait staff was welcoming and engaging. The cooks were also polite (and clean) as they were walking through the dining area on occasion. The portions were right for the price. Our party enjoyed, coffee, eggs, omelets, french toast and hash browns and all approved of the meal. This is not a white table cloth establishment, this is simple, clean, mom and pop dining.
