My stepson bought/ is paying for a non-running car from Affordable. He got the nice looking,…read moredecent mileage buick about 6-7 months ago and only was problem free for about 3 weeks. He called and ask them to help or put him in something else and the very rude and unprofessional lady at the front counter told him they weren't doing anything and he got it as is! I tried to help buy having a new fuel pump and filters put in and it helped for maybe a week and then it started messing up again. Leaving him stranded and relying on us and our vehicles to pick up his kids and get to work. After doing some research and asking for help was told to check the fuel pump relays and fuses which are under the back seat. We took up the seat which someone smashed the latches, to find old burnt fuses and relays, an old burnt fuse box and wires that have been cut and spliced and obviously getting hot. It is unsafe and I will not have him put his kids in there car seats on that back seat with it getting hot and shorting out. When he called and asked to speak to a manager the lady at the front counter said she was and he bought it as is. He said can you put me I to something else and she told him only if he owes 2000 or less. This place is a joke and doesn't care about their customers at all.

While I planned this trip into the far north panhandle of Texas I was concerned where I could…read morepossibly stay in the area around Canadian, Texas. This is a neat little town, by the way, right on the verdant Canadian River. So I called the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the nice lady told me about this place. "It's right on the northern edge of town" she said. As a woman travelling alone I am careful to stay only in state parks or commercial RV areas where the ranger/owner lives on site and there are other people around. About this place, I had an image of a remote, out-of-town public area on a highway in full view of any marauder or rapist who wanted to "get" me. I was so concerned about this one night of the trip that I even ordered a can of pepper spray. It turns out this place is quite nice. Yes it is in a public area but well back off of the main highway and tucked behind a rodeo arena. There are about 24 sites, all with electricity at least and most with water. There is a dump site next to the pay box, where you fill out an envelope and put in $10 cash. All sites are shaded. This is a very pleasant area along the Canadian River bottoms and is a model of what a town should do with a public area with naturally occurring trees and habitat. I saw plenty of deer scat during my walks with Cello. There is a high school sports arena nearby, a recreational area with a lake, some sheds with "city equipment" like mowers, a water storage tank, and the rodeo complex. You don't have to park too close to that (because of flies) but even from here (site #17) I can see the horses in the distance and hear their neighing. There is some kind of event tonight and I can hear an announcer in the distance. There are a few people around and I don't feel too concerned. Out of 24 sites, about a third are occupied. Uphill from me are residential areas that look fairly respectable. There are plenty of places to walk without much traffic, around the rodeo arena and the roads leading to the other facilities. It doesn't feel crowded and the trees along the river are within sight. The city has also planted plenty of Chinese elms along the drives. I like it here. Hemphill County has done the right thing with the whole area, and with the RV sites.
