First off it's like the house on the rock because once you enter it's a maze and no getting out until the end. This museum is basically the history of camping from the start of recreational camping from the beginning up to modern time with the most basic rigs to the class A motor home. I found it interesting to see how camping/rvs evolved over time from a coffin sized pull along to to a luxury home on wheels. The have various display's including engines and toys. Some displays you can walk in and some are just to look at. The building is massive looking but the museum is on the small side and an easy walk through.

As a kid, I was completely taken with Batman - the 1966 version. I could watch and talk that Batman for hours. The rest was interesting to me - but I didn't really get a lot of comics as a kid. I did get The Three Stooges comic books - but not much more. As an adult, my appreciation has spread to Daredevil, Black Adam, and the first two Deadpool movies among others. When I walked into the Hall of Heroes in Elkhart, Indiana, I was blown away. The first element of this five-star experience is the off-street parking. That sounds innocuous, but I am a Chicago guy and parking is always a consideration. The next delightful surprise was the price. It was 10 bucks. I had a HoH coupon for a buck off that I had picked up at another museum, the gentleman applied it to my ticket and my buddy's ticket. This gentleman - Allen Stewart - was quick to give us the rundown on the place. He was thorough, before setting us free in the small - but perfectly packed and maintained - museum. The building is divided by Marvel, D.C., and Independents with no one get preferential treatment. This is how a museum should be - just present what you have and let the visitor enjoy. As we worked our way up one aisle and down the next, we saw every kind of action figure you can imagine and some you couldn't. (Who knew they made Hong Kong Fuey action figures?) I got to pose on the bike that Nic Cage rode in "The Ghost Rider," I also got to lay on the Shelby from "Iron Man." (Stewart diligently took pix until I was totally satisfied. I can be kind of a diva.) We also got up close and personal with Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman. There were so many ancillary super-hero themed novelties from Crazy Foam to metal lunch boxes and so many other things I had completely forgotten about. Suddenly my childhood was displayed in pristine display cases. Hall of Heroes covers generations of comic books and comic book iconography that your grandparents will love it as much as your children. If the little ones get bored - there are free arcade games on hand to keep them satisfied. There are bins of reasonably priced comic books and a small shelf for the obligatory souvenirs. Walking back out into the misty autumn Indiana day, my buddy and I discussed how much Stewart knew and his love for the industry. He made the visit exciting. He isn't a ticket-taker. He is the gateway into the superhero universe.

We sat outside overlooking the vineyard. Molly was our server. She was friendly and engaging. Lunch was a walleye sandwich with chips for hubby and the fig & prosciutto flatbread for me. The walleye had a crispy crust coating the moist and tender fish. I took a bite of hub's sandwich and it was so good. My flatbread, though, was amazing. I'm all about a good crust and this one was perfection. So crispy, yet light with all air pockets in the crust. Of course, I love anything fig and this didn't disappoint. I ate 3 squares and took the rest with me. Of course being at the vineyard, we ordered a glass of wine. My husband had the albariño and I ordered the sauvignon blanc. I didn't care for the sauvignon blanc. When the manager came by, we raved about the food but I was honest about the wine. She gave me a taste of the chardonnay and she was right. It was good. I was happy she switched my wine. The negatives are the wasps are nuisances, and there were no traps to catch them. I was dodging them the entire meal. I guess it's hazard when dining al fresco. The other annoyance was the water glasses are small, and my water was never refilled and my glass sat empty even with Molly and the manager stopping by during the meal. Since the glass is small, they should leave a bottle of water at the table or make it a point to check and recheck the water glasses. This is a nice stop for lunch on the Michigan wine trail.

They have a heated pool, dog park, playgrounds, basketball court, gazebo, fishing pond, volleyball court, putt golf course, rustic cabins, full hook ups, great camp store with souvenirs, sell great burning firewood, tent sites, activity center, and pull through sites as well. Only an hour 15 min away from the Indiania Dunes National Park. When I was in the camp store she was tell this small group of young girls to stick together and not separate from one another! It's so sweet that she even cares for your kids like she would her own. The lady behind the counter was so helpful, she gave us great suggestions for donuts which turned out to be totally right as to where to go for the best donuts. Wow-what a change and not for the better…read more Definitely downhill from the previous owners. Received tickets for a performance in the Round Barn Theatre and the buffet was an included. The buffet was a joke. Food was bland, over cooked and luke warm at best. Not much of a selection either: mashed potatoes-NO GRAVY!, green beans, Mac & Cheese, Pasta Alfredo, pulled pork and fried chicken. A side salad and roll was brought to the table. Salad was OK the rolls were hard. To be fair the pulled pork was the highlight of the meal. The chicken was so dry and over cooked; even the two adjacent tables we could hear them complain to the staff. Oh and dessert-not included. You'd think for $35+ dessert would be included Our waitress was apologetic but nothing she could do to make the situation better. She did comment how business was slow and I can see why. Definitely will not return to eat but would visit the RBT again as the play was the highlight of the evening.

They had the model t driving experience running, 100 bucks you get a full day training and driving on roads a real model t pretty cool. They also had volunteers with their classic cars driving you around the Gilmore for free. Also pretty neat. And then it's the cars and the buildings and the grounds and don't forget about the little diner all in all it's pretty cool day. If you're in the cars or just history stop by the Gilmore car museum it's definitely worth the stop.
