sold our class A and we were looking for a smaller unit for exploring a few more places now that the kids are "too cool" to hang with the rents.....found an amazing deal on a fabulous Truck Top Camper by Forest River. Amazing value, but the best part was the sales, service, and delivery were the best we have ever had, and this is our 4th unit. if you are scouting out options for your own personal getaway RV, consider making the trek to the Outpost RV....you will not be disappointed !!p

I have to admit that I fell into my superhero fascination much later in life and I came in through…read morethe movies more than the comic books. As a kid, I was completely taken with Batman - the 1966 version. I could watch and talk that Batman for hours. The rest was interesting to me - but I didn't really get a lot of comics as a kid. I did get The Three Stooges comic books - but not much more. As an adult, my appreciation has spread to Daredevil, Black Adam, and the first two Deadpool movies among others. When I walked into the Hall of Heroes in Elkhart, Indiana, I was blown away. The first element of this five-star experience is the off-street parking. That sounds innocuous, but I am a Chicago guy and parking is always a consideration. The next delightful surprise was the price. It was 10 bucks. I had a HoH coupon for a buck off that I had picked up at another museum, the gentleman applied it to my ticket and my buddy's ticket. This gentleman - Allen Stewart - was quick to give us the rundown on the place. He was thorough, before setting us free in the small - but perfectly packed and maintained - museum. The building is divided by Marvel, D.C., and Independents with no one get preferential treatment. This is how a museum should be - just present what you have and let the visitor enjoy. As we worked our way up one aisle and down the next, we saw every kind of action figure you can imagine and some you couldn't. (Who knew they made Hong Kong Fuey action figures?) I got to pose on the bike that Nic Cage rode in "The Ghost Rider," I also got to lay on the Shelby from "Iron Man." (Stewart diligently took pix until I was totally satisfied. I can be kind of a diva.) We also got up close and personal with Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman. There were so many ancillary super-hero themed novelties from Crazy Foam to metal lunch boxes and so many other things I had completely forgotten about. Suddenly my childhood was displayed in pristine display cases. Hall of Heroes covers generations of comic books and comic book iconography that your grandparents will love it as much as your children. If the little ones get bored - there are free arcade games on hand to keep them satisfied. There are bins of reasonably priced comic books and a small shelf for the obligatory souvenirs. Walking back out into the misty autumn Indiana day, my buddy and I discussed how much Stewart knew and his love for the industry. He made the visit exciting. He isn't a ticket-taker. He is the gateway into the superhero universe.

If you're a comic fan this place is fun. If not, the best thing about it is the arcades, which is…read morecool to see. SO it's okay overall. Just a decent historical covering of comics and tons of memorabilia. I wish the back issues were cheaper and they were better organized as I feel whenever things get too tight to peruse it's too filed up, and perhaps a cheapo cutout section might be cool.

We sat outside overlooking the vineyard. Molly was our server. She was friendly and engaging. Lunch was a walleye sandwich with chips for hubby and the fig & prosciutto flatbread for me. The walleye had a crispy crust coating the moist and tender fish. I took a bite of hub's sandwich and it was so good. My flatbread, though, was amazing. I'm all about a good crust and this one was perfection. So crispy, yet light with all air pockets in the crust. Of course, I love anything fig and this didn't disappoint. I ate 3 squares and took the rest with me. Of course being at the vineyard, we ordered a glass of wine. My husband had the albariño and I ordered the sauvignon blanc. I didn't care for the sauvignon blanc. When the manager came by, we raved about the food but I was honest about the wine. She gave me a taste of the chardonnay and she was right. It was good. I was happy she switched my wine. The negatives are the wasps are nuisances, and there were no traps to catch them. I was dodging them the entire meal. I guess it's hazard when dining al fresco. The other annoyance was the water glasses are small, and my water was never refilled and my glass sat empty even with Molly and the manager stopping by during the meal. Since the glass is small, they should leave a bottle of water at the table or make it a point to check and recheck the water glasses. This is a nice stop for lunch on the Michigan wine trail.

The museum is very focused on early Ford V-8 vehicles, but the collection still has a surprising amount of variety. There are beautifully restored coupes and sedans, a bright yellow vintage taxi, a fire truck, exposed engines, old Ford signs, photographs, and other period memorabilia. The vehicles look incredible, with polished chrome, whitewall tires, original-style details, and displays explaining what you are looking at. The building itself is also impressive. The outside has a distinctive Art Deco look, while the inside is clean, bright, spacious, and extremely well maintained. Both the museum and the cars were spotless. Admission costs less than a sandwich, which makes this one of the better-value attractions in the area. Even if you are not a serious Ford expert, it is still worth visiting for the craftsmanship, history, and quality of the collection.

Everything is clean, organized, and thoughtfully labeled. The vehicles are presented with enough space to appreciate their design and craftsmanship. Only 90 reviews so far? That is surprising for a place this large and this well put together…read more The Gilmore Car Museum is much more than a single building filled with old cars. It is an entire campus with multiple buildings, historic-looking streets, a vintage diner, recreated service stations, and separate exhibits covering different manufacturers and periods of automotive history. There is a lot to see, and it would be easy to spend most of the day here without getting through everything. The quality of the environment is what really stands out. The buildings, signs, displays, and surrounding grounds all feel carefully planned and maintained. It has an almost Disneyland-level attention to detail, just without the rides. Instead of simply placing cars in rows, many of the vehicles are displayed in settings that help explain their history and make the experience more interesting. The collection itself is extensive, ranging from very early automobiles to unusual prototypes, luxury cars, and more familiar classics. The vehicles we saw were in excellent condition, and the exhibits included enough information to provide context without turning every stop into a long reading assignment. The staff members we encountered were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly interested in the museum. The entire property was also exceptionally clean and well maintained. Even people who are not serious car enthusiasts could appreciate the history, architecture, and effort that went into creating this place. For anyone interested in automobiles, it is absolutely worth going out of the way to visit.

I'd like to start by mentioning the staff. They were incredibly friendly, welcoming and accommodating. They took the time to explain everything to us and made us feel like we were part of the family. Now let's get to the fun part the cars! I can tell that these curators take time making sure these cars are immaculately clean. They make sure that they give you historical anecdotes and touches and they really care about the community. I really liked their historical section focusing on African-American women and their history with cars. They offer so many dining options although I didn't see any vegan food on the menu I was able to obtain some chips. If you're someone who enjoys an alcoholic beverage, they do have a beautiful bar section as well. My dad enjoyed the peach pie, which you can find in a diner that is retrofitted to look like a historical diner. We also went when there was a car show so we not only had the opportunity to see all the historical vehicles within the museum. We had the beautiful opportunity to see cars from people traveling from around the world. A awesome hidden touch that a lot of people were unaware of is there is a slot car track at the museum take your time explore all the buildings you might be surprised of what you find. I want to thank the staff at the Gilmore car museum. You helped build a beautiful core memory with my dad and I.
