Excellent stop on our way out of Death Valley. Server was super friendly and nice. Had a good sense of humor and was very accommodating. Veggie burrito was substantial and delicious. The veggies inside were plump and well-cooked. Sante Fe chicken was also very tasty. The chili wasn't as flavorful as we would have wanted but for those who want a chili on the lighter side, this is perfect. Nice outdoor seating during the sunset. It was a very nice experience. Highly recommend for those passing through!

Just happened upon this adorable place in Shoshone CA. The food was delicious. We had homemade chips and salsa and the combo plate. Great food, great service, friendly and clean. Thank you, Brianna!! P. S. Steve said "everything on the plate was fresh, hot and homemade. Food was excellent and service even better!"

Super cozy and cute spot! Not many options around so we weren't expecting much. Came in on a Tuesday at 9:50 am while a large group of bikers were here, didn't eat until 11:05 am. Our waiter was very apologetic and the other employees were rushing to get everyone's dishes out. The rush in an extremely small town is nobodies fault, however -1 star because there was no line and nobody greeted us when we came in and we awkwardly stood at the entrance for 20 min before someone acknowledged us. I ordered the spanish omelette and it was delicious! Coffee was standard pot coffee. No complaints there. Dining room pic after the morning rush was over.

    Chicken Caesar salad

Friendly service and everything was super clean, including the dining area and restrooms. The chicken Caesar salad was solid, and the salmon was really good with perfectly grilled veggies. The fresh-cut fries were absolutely delicious, and the locally made Death Valley black cherry soda was a great surprise -- so good!

The three stars are for the one lady who is running the show here. Cute little eatery in the middle of nowhere. Clean and tidy but only the two people working(cook and runner) so Review would be five stars if the food was even close to worth what we paid. Don't get me wrong, being in the middle of nowhere you have to expect the prices to be higher than you're used to but for pete's sake, the fries were cold and the sandwich(albeit looks fantastic) was kind of awful? Chewy and unseasoned... bread was 'chewy' like a bagel? Ended up using all the honey mustard to get it some flavor. Would I ever go back? Most likely no, but we just wanted to take her something to eat before spending the day in Death Valley.

During our recent road trip from Genoa to Phoenix (through the Eastern Sierra and back up via Nevada US-95), we stopped for a 2-night stay at the Shoshone Inn. The Crowbar Cafe is across the street, and basically the only place to eat in town or within miles. There is Steaks and Beers in nearby Tecopa (for dinner) that is the subject of another review. We had 2 breakfasts and a dinner here. I enjoyed the comfortable and country cafe (and bar) seating and décor, and found the breakfasts (pancakes and eggs the first morning and poached eggs with bacon, hash browns, and toast) to be plentiful and delicious. Gayle had the same, except for scrambled eggs and sausage the second morning. Although the wait person made an excellent martini before dinner, we both agreed that my fish tacos and her Chicken Santa Fe lacked taste and were overall just so-so. But in this part of outer Death Valley, beggars can't be choosers. Overall service was down-home friendly and responsive. Having a full bar available was also a real plus. Once here, we took our time and really enjoyed our meal-time stays here.

Steaks and beer off a dusty road…read more What a surprise to eat this well in tiny, quiet, Tecopa. The menu is small but thoughtful with great cuts of meat, a few appetizers, soup, salad, pasta, beer, and wine. After a long day of hiking, a glass of wine was exactly what we needed. We started with a luxuriously creamy, well-seasoned potato soup and an orchard salad bursting with blueberries, apples, strawberries, pomegranate seeds, cheese, and a bright balsamic vinaigrette. Then we split a juicy filet mignon, the kind where your knife simply glides through. Even the veggie medley and mashed potatoes were perfection. And whatever you do, don't skip dessert. The warm date bread with vanilla ice cream and date syrup is one of the best desserts I've ever had. A couple notes: look for the neon lights out front because it's incredibly dark and easy to miss the turn. The dining room is romantic but tiny, maybe five tables, so call ahead for a reservation. An immense thank you to the chef and owner for creating such a memorable meal in the middle of nowhere. Unexpected and oh so delicious.

Locals hangout! [Randsburg CA]…read more It was a quiet Saturday afternoon when we visited this historic town this past Memorial Day weekend. We were hungry and was hoping that there was someplace to grab a bite here at this mining town. The owner of the Rock and Crystal shop pointed to this "Joint" and mentioned that they make a mean burrito and burgers. While I was still shopping at the crystal store my hubby went over to the bar and asked if the neighboring restaurant could fire up the grill for a couple of cheeseburgers w/ grilled onions (they looked like they were already putting stuff away at 4:30p). They were kind enough to oblige and we got to eat one tasty burger! The burgers were delicious... the grilled onions and seasoning they use really put flavor on those beef patties. Very good! The Joint is a family-owned saloon since 1955 with friendly folks running the bar. Decorated with patriotic flags inside and out. Was probably surprised and not used to seeing a couple of Asians walk in. As we were leaving people were starting to trickle in... looks like the fun was about to start. Found out later that they had a live band entertaining from 8:00p to midnight that evening for Memorial Day Saturday. Fun!! Review #2995

We'd heard from the locals, The Hubb is some of the best food in town and is a popular watering hole for the younger (under 70) crowd. The lady who served us for lunch was rude and seemed bothered we came in. Eventually she brought us our drinks and gave us a heavy sigh as she explained she didn't know why the restaurant was even open for lunch because she had too much to do to prepare for the evening shift. A second older woman brought our meal out (Taco Tuesday special) and tossed it onto our table without saying a word. The ground beef Caucasian tacos were over seasoned but generally edible. The service was absolute trash. My tip was reflective of that. If you have to visit Pahrump, bring your own food and cook at home, in your Air BNB.

We both own property in Sandy…read moreValley and actually love to support the local establishments as opposed to private equity bars etc that are now taking over America. The idle spurs, a once somewhat unassuming bar on Sandy Valleys main drag; has received a facelift on the exterior and also the interior. It has been somewhat transformed into an old time saloon. Kudos on the transformation, a little bit has gone a long way. It has been several years since I have stopped in for a pop here, and my wife has never been. We entered the bar and saw approximately 5 other patrons in the bar; mostly gaming at the bar top and 2 vaping in the lot. I noticed a few patrons out back behind the bar through the back door as well, there is a horseshoe pit back there: I wasn't aware of that. A nice feature if you ask me. We sat down and ordered a beer each, Sam Addams and a Coors light: the beers were delivered cold and promptly and we ran a tab as we figured we would stay for a few beers as our plan was to then go to the Pioneer Saloon. We conversed with one of the locals who came in, a very nice older gentleman who had lived in the area since 1988. What we were unaware of was the fact that it was Karaoke night. At about 640 a man came in, Jim was his name, and began setting up a karaoke stage. Within minutes, people started trickling into the Idle Spurs. Patrons were making their karaoke stage reservations and before I knew what had happened, the Idle Spurs Saloon suddenly was packed and rivaling the occupancy of any Las Vegas locals bar. Brian the bartender is truly a gem. One bartender working about 35 customers and nobody was waiting very long at all for a drink. He crushed it. I'm not quite certain I have ever been in a bar like this one. The locals were all so inviting and friendly. We were the outsiders, albeit land owners there, we don't actually reside in town. Nobody seemed to care, as we were embraced and welcomed by everyone we came in contact with. Jim, who ran the karaoke, has just about every song imaginable in his program. I was so relaxed and felt like such a part of the town, that even I took the stage and sang. The Idle Spurs Saloon is truly a one of a kind stop, harkening back to days gone by, where people weren't glued to a cell or constantly taking selfies or watching tic tok reels. This is a down home, friendly atmosphere where people are friendly, people have conversations, and people genuinely want to get to know one another, similar to what one probably encountered in the 1950's. The Idle Spurs is 100% my new favorite place to go, in the rather rare time that I may want to go out for a beer. Next time I visit I will absolutely try the snack shack, I was already full of tacos otherwise I would have tonight.

We had a friend tell us about this place so we decided to take the drive and see what it was all about. I wouldn't be able to tell you about the drive on the roads, but headed through the desert was a pretty easy ride. The inside looks like an old saloon. The bartender was very nice and you can tell that this is a local bar that drinks are cold and cheap. Do you keep in mind that this is kind of a dive bar so you do get that stale smoke smell when you leave. We happen to have our kids with us and they were able to come in the bar and sit at a table. They do have a food truck, which I heard from local patrons that the fried mushrooms and the pizza are very good so next time we stop off here I will definitely give them a try. The bathroom was clean overall a cool little place to stop and grab a drink when you're out and about.
