Queen of Tarts (both locations) is by far one of my favorite tea room/bakeries. They carry only the finest sweets and teas. Everything is homemade. They do an excellent brunch as well. The scones have got to be some of the best ever. I've had a lot in my travels and these are grand. The service is always excellent as well. The decor is as charming as it gets. Proper tea service on floral patterned China, giving all the Marie Antoinette feels. A+.

Friendly service. For breakfast, I loved their vegetarian Irish breakfast that they no longer make, but they do have a traditional Irish breakfast. Only served for breakfast or all day during the weekend. Their pancakes were super delicious (€13). We tried it with honey, syrup, Nutella and banana's. These are served all day and everyday. I also tried their baked beans and kale that came with tomato baked beans and fried kale on bread and topped with fried eggs (€14.5). It was good. Another breakfast item that is served for breakfast or all day on the weekends. Their Caprese sandwich for lunch is addictive and they pair it with a great tasty bread (€11). Their cakes and teas are tasty, I love their chocolate cake. Their coffee, lattes and Mocha are average. But the experience and atmosphere still make them enjoyable. Overall, this is a place that I will always visit.

Visiting Ireland for the first time, on my way to the Guinness Storehouse for a tour, I came across…read moreMannings Bakery. Looking over their case of baked treats, I decided to grab one and had a good experience, overall. I walked in on a Tuesday afternoon and perused the case for a moment, figuring out what was what and narrowing down what I wanted. The inside is a good size with a few tables and some stool seating. The inside is very much a café. It took over 10 minutes to get the woman behind the counter to take my order, but she was fairly busy prior to me walking in. She did a nice job answering my questions though and cashed me out quickly. Afterward, I found a stool and had a seat and waited no more than five minutes before she came over with a tray with everything I ordered! I ordered a custard slice and an Americano. The custard slice description is a golden and flaky puff pastry filled with fresh Irish Cream & Custard Sweet Fondant. The custard slice was nicely sized and had plenty of cream in the middle! I wish the top of the pastry wasn't hard though, it made eating it VERY messy and cumbersome, but it did taste good. The Americano paired nicely with my treat. Once I finished my mid-afternoon snack, I was told I could leave my dishes and they'd pick them up - a full-service café! Manning's Bakery is a cute little bakery/café serving up some delicious looking treats. I don't think I'd order the custard slice again - the top of the pastry being that hard made it cumbersome to bite and cut into and made a mess. The workers behind the counter were friendly enough but came off stressed out still. If I ever come back to Dublin and am in the area, I'd be willing to come back and try another one of their pastries or maybe a slice of one of their cakes!

We had to leave it in the end, and resigned to going another day. To my sheer delight and surprise walking by Crowbar (Button Factory) a second branch of Dolce Sicily has just opened! It's much more spacious and a really comfy cool spot to hang out. The sheer array of cakes and pastries are amazing - they have loads of unusual flavours. I went for the savoury ciabatta with buffalo mozzarella, grilled aubergine, leek omelette (unusual but nice!) and baby spinach. While I did feel the price of €11 for the sandwich was quite steep, you could tell the ingredients were all seriously good quality. It was really gorgeous! You could add soup or a salad for an extra two quid also. I went for their soup which was Roasted Red Pepper & Tomato - really zingy and fresh. We were both pretty stuffed after the massive lunches but decided to go for one of their amazing looking cannolis - WOW. We chose the pistachio cannoli and it was out-of-this-world delicious. Definitely worth a try!

I chose this coffee shop because of the excellent reviews great location and overall atmosphere... I ordered food/coffee, sat in the back corner, broke out my small computer to get caught up on digital artwork that I had fallen behind on... Nearly thirty minutes later I was notified that laptops were not allowed. I hadn't even finished my coffee yet. Dumbfounded... I looked around and noticed a man sitting directly behind me with a giant Ipad with a keyboard attached but no one said anything to him? I am not sure how this makes any sense. Also from my observation, every single person in the shop was staring at their electronic device, so the "no screens rule" doesn't apply here. I wasn't using WiFi on my laptop. But really, cafés have been places for conducting business for centuries and essential for most people while traveling and working remotely. Other than that... this is a cute little place offers a wide range of menu items... maybe only a good place to eat, drink your tea or coffee, read a book or endlessly scroll on your phone? Sure... whatever dudes.
