Great place to ride bikes, take a stroll, or go fishing 5/5 Very scenic park. In the fall, it is beautiful to walk in the picturesque fallen leaves.

Fantastic Park for off leash dogs and exercise. Wide open spaces to walk with your spouse and get lost on the trails deep in the woods.

On the surface, north Texas appears flat and somewhat uninteresting. However, as with anywhere, you have to get off the beaten path to find the interesting details that give a place meaning. I had the good fortune to have moved to Plano Texas in 1980 just on the edge of its genesis into a perineal "best places to live" lister. One thing the City government did in Plano in the early days was ,set the stage for controlled growth to yield a desirable and healthy lifestyle. Id say they succeeded since this area has become the epicenter of one of the larger growth areas of Texas. A big part of that plan included an overabundance of green space. The Oak Pointe area consisting of hundreds of acres was developed into a minimally invasive area of parks, trails and entertainment venues. Only a 1/2 mile or so from a major interstate, most people never know it's here. I even forget and today, reminded myself how great it is. They even allow minimal overnight camping, which allows people without time or resources to experience the joys of that. Id say if you live in the area and aren't taking advantage, you need to check it out asap and... Go!!!

This preserve is awesome for taking a stroll in the great outdoors. Upon arrival, you'll see a ton of cars in the expansive parking lot. But don't fret - there are SOOOO many trails here, that it usually doesn't get crowded. Maybe a bit busy, but not "crowded." The thing I like about this trail system is that there is a mix of paved trails and natural trails. I prefer the natural trails since fewer people use them, but the benefit of the paved trails is if you show up and the natural trails are too muddy to hike on, you still have plenty of space to roam in this beautiful preserve. There's a beautiful pond to walk around and you can usually spot plenty of water fowl along the banks. The natural trails that go through the woods meander along the banks of Rowlett Creek. It's a serene setting, but be forewarned there is usually some trash lodged in the branches along the high creek banks - this is due to flood runoff from the roadways, etc. (dumb people littering on the roads and then it gets washed into the creeks). If you get creative, you can get 5 to 6 miles on the natural trails. The trails are rated at easy, as there is VERY minimal incline - but not much choice in this flat part of Texas :( Biking is allowed on the miles and miles of paved trails, but not the natural trails. The pond - fishing, kayaking, canoeing are allowed, but no swimming. There is also an overhead zipline and aerial obstacle course between the trees - this is not free and is provided by a private organization by the name of "Go Ape." Check them out on Yelp. The bottom line is this is a very beautiful trail system that the people of Plano are very fortunate to have!

Nice trail view. Heavily shaded and cool.

Nice little city trail and small lake for yaks or fishing. Paved bike path as well as nature trails through the woods. Surprisingly well kept and free of debris! Kudos to the staff and volunteers. 1 1/2 hour, leisurely 4 1/2 mile hike/walk. Highly recommend.

An oasis in the concrete jungle! Beautiful park with many, many trails, all are worth exploring. Some trails may lead you farther than you expected so pay attention! This is a wonderful park for bird watching, even from the parking lot!

Very nice park and trails. Went on a weekday and was not crowded at all. Plenty of parking.

The biking walking trails are amazing, I never lose perspective of how beautiful this place is. In fact, this time I wanted to write a review that emphasizes how valuable this location is for photos. Ive seen the best sunsets here! Perfect for bridal pics as well as prom. I recently took advantage of the new upgrade on the south east corner of the pond, a stone elevation. I'm posting our photoshoot to show off this location.

This is our go to park for walks and bike rides. The grounds are well maintained and cared for and it's big enough to still have a nice quiet walk even when it's busy. We love walking on the raised wooden walkway surrounded by trees and bushes. During heavy rains, the area is susceptible to flooding but once the waters receeds, it leaves really nice marshes. We normally come here with our girls to let them ride around the paved trails but there's also plenty of unpaved trails to hike as well. There's also a good sized lake in the park that attracts evening and weekend fishermen. You'll also see the occasional row boater or kayaker in the lake. It's also not uncommon to see critters like snakes out and about. Overall great park with nice facilities that's well cared for.

Very nice park east of 75 in Plano. Lots of trails to explore, with the bigger ones either paved or wood, with smaller trails branching off from there. Plenty of trees to provide shade. There's also a really large natural lake to walk around behind the rec center. Parking lot was fairly full, but it's so spread out that nothing really seemed that crowded.

Beautiful park with lots of cool scenery! Trails (both paved and dirt) were fun to hike! Also enjoyed the tons of shade which kept hike enjoyable. Perfect for walking, running, biking! And plenty of parking.

Loved visiting here! Lots of parking available. Some trails were closed for maintenance but the boardwalk was open, as well as the many smaller trails that run from there. Was disappointed I did not get to walk around the lake due to that path being closed. Hopefully I will get to walk it in the near future! Had a great time hiking and walking around exploring this park. Will make this one of the many parks I frequent every month.

This is a nice park. There is a pretty pond there that I really enjoyed. We saw a cute little snake swimming. The trails are ok. I think there's not much to see, but I enjoyed it for what it was. One day I would probably go to the adventure park part one day. You should come here if you are in the area

I discovered this park after joining Plano Pacers last night and seeing that this is our monthly location for 5k races. I walked over to check out the course prior to Saturdays race. I loved everything about it! It's truly beautiful in every sense of the word. What I can say, is on a very hot TX day the park itself (not Legacy trail) didn't seem to have a ton of tree coverage. You'll definitely want a wide brim hat and some sunscreen. The paths, wild flowers, lake, creek, trees, birds, bunnies and so on were all very lovely. I've been running a ton of routes since relocating to the neighborhood and I'm always thankful to find new paths to incorporate in, seeing as though I'm a distance runner and have been trying to put together some ideas for various different mileage options from my doorstep. I was very accustomed to an out and back in my previous city that I could easily get over 20 miles on and have been looking to somehow recreate a similar very straight forward route like that. I will most definitely be looping Windhaven Meadows Park and Legacy Trail into my runs. Highly recommend if you're looking for a gorgeous peaceful place to walk and relax. I can't wait to bring friends and family here!

This is hands-down one of the most thoughtfully designed, beautifully maintained, and inclusive parks I've ever visited. The playground is massive, separated into different sections by age group, which is a lifesaver if you have both toddlers and older kids. Everything is built with accessibility in mind ramps, wide pathways, sensory features, musical instruments, and even mini pretend storefronts that spark imaginative play. The rubberized ground covering is such a bonus for safety too soft, clean, and comfortable for little ones learning to navigate the world. There's also a splash pad right next door, which is an absolute magnet on hot Texas afternoons. Shaded picnic tables and benches are scattered throughout the park, making it easy for parents and caregivers to relax without feeling like you have to hover the entire time. What makes Hope Park extra special is the heart behind it. It was created by the Frisco community with the dream of building a place where all children no matter their ability level could play side by side. You can feel that spirit when you're here. It's not just a playground; it's a celebration of inclusion, joy, and togetherness. Pro tip: It can get very busy on weekends, so early mornings or weekday evenings are perfect if you want more space to roam. Parking is plentiful, and restrooms are nearby. Five huge stars!

It's a great spot for everyone. Pets are welcome (on leashes!), and there is a fantastic playground near the parking lot--perfect for kiddos who still have energy to burn after a hike. Passing this park on an out-of-the-way side street for the last two years, I noticed a "workout area" towards the entrance to the park. I usually work out daily at the recreation center but, recently due to Omnicron, I've been looking for an interesting outside place to get some exercise. I remembered passing this place and decided to check it out. On pulling up I was initially disappointed. I guess I thought the structure should be bigger, more interesting, more challenging! then I started using it. Bam!!! Hello! I thought I was in decent shape for my age but, boy was I wrong. I couldn't even make it through a few exercises on this "adult playground"!!!! It just shows you can't judge a book by its cover or make assumptions. I feel I'm getting a type of physical challenge that I didn't inside a gym. Definite Go!
